> Resúmenes de Archives: The Nanyang Mystery
Lu Junxiang cornered Zhang Haiqi, confidently declaring that she had run out of places to escape. However, Zhang Haiqi remained unfazed, having already prepared a way out. Just as Lu Junxiang's men rushed into the chamber, the ocean water that had begun pouring into the underground ruins suddenly breached the walls, violently flooding the area and sweeping the henchmen away. Seizing the opportunity, Zhang Haiqi pinned Lu Junxiang down by trapping his leg under a massive boulder.
She then unleashed a living Evil God, leaving the helpless commander with no chance of survival. Meanwhile, Zhang Hailou was desperately searching for the final medicinal ingredients in another sector of the flooded ruins. As he navigated the passages, he came across a warning symbol carved into the stone. He instantly recalled a lesson from his youth when Zhang Haixia had taught him about the secret symbols used by Archives agents.
Zhang Haixia had specifically warned him that this particular symbol represented the highest level of danger—a sign indicating a deadly, inescapable path from which no agent had ever returned alive. Despite the warning, Zhang Hailou's sole focus was saving his brother. Without a second thought, he dove into the deep pool. The immense pressure and lack of oxygen quickly took their toll, causing him to choke and spit blood.
Just as his strength failed and he began to drown, Zhang Haiqi appeared and pulled him to safety. Zhang Hailou regained consciousness in a temporarily safe outer passage, surprised to find his mentor beside him. Zhang Haiqi gave him a life-saving medicine and explained that she had managed to swim to his location.
She revealed that the Archives were equipped with a self-destruct defense system; once the Dragon-Sealing Stone was opened from the inside, the underground channels connected, allowing seawater to inundate the entire facility. Zhang Haiqi harshly reprimanded him for his recklessness, pointing out that he had failed to appreciate people while they were alive and was now foolishly throwing his own life away. Seeing his unwavering determination, however, she softened.
She noted that they had a six-hour window before the tide ebbed, which would cause the deadly jellyfish to recede from the waters and give them one final opportunity to retrieve the herbs. Before making another attempt, Zhang Haiqi decided it was time to show Zhang Hailou the true nature of the Southern Archives. She led him deeper into the facility, showing him ancient animal skins used to record the mysterious tattoos of the Zhang family.
She explained that the clan originated from the deep mountains of northern China, where they engaged in a highly specialized line of work. Over a thousand years ago, the family established the Western Archives to investigate anomalies in that region, while the Southern Archives was the youngest branch, founded only eighty years prior through cooperation and funding from the imperial court.
Over time, as the core family population dwindled, the Archives began adopting orphans from the Nanyang region, giving them the Zhang surname and training them to become agents. To further illustrate her point, Zhang Haiqi showed him the preserved body of Zhang Ruipu, an agent who had lived for over a century. She pointed out his elongated fingers—a physical trait developed through specialized training to crack complex mechanisms.
She explained that true Zhang family members possessed unique tattoos inked with a rare mixture of herbs and bird blood, which only appeared when their body temperature rose. This formula enhanced their physical capabilities, slowed their aging process, and altered their blood. Because Zhang Haixia already bore this tattoo, he was considered a true member of the family, whereas Zhang Hailou was still just an ordinary mortal.
Zhang Haiqi then demonstrated how the local hot springs worked in tandem with Zhang family blood to rapidly heal her own wounds. She instructed Zhang Hailou to enter the mineral-rich waters. As he immersed himself, the intense heat and medicinal properties made him lightheaded, and he drifted into unconsciousness. When he finally opened his eyes, he discovered a striking tattoo etched onto his skin and felt a sudden, extraordinary surge of physical strength.
Fully transformed into a true member of the Zhang family, he dove back into the dangerous waters and successfully retrieved the remaining herbs. With the ingredients secured, Zhang Haiqi immediately set to work brewing the antidote for Zhang Haixia. Several days passed before Zhang Hailou finally woke up from his exhaustion. He found himself resting in the Dong family's villa, the very place where he had lived with his mentor and brother during his childhood.
Feeling incredibly energized, he tested his new abilities by effortlessly leaping across the high roof beams of the courtyard. Zhang Haiqi spotted him and jokingly threatened to use him to patch up the roof if he broke it. When Zhang Hailou asked about his brother, she smiled and revealed that the medicine had worked, and Zhang Haixia had actually awakened a few days before him. Eager to see his companion, Zhang Hailou immediately ran off to find him.
