Yijun visits her mother-in-law’s home to investigate the cause of Jiang Jiaqi’s facial injuries. Sticking to their agreed-upon cover story, Jiang Jialu lies, claiming that he and Jiaqi got into a fight during a soccer match after Jiaqi slide-tackled him. Their mother, overhearing this, becomes furious at Jialu’s recklessness and strikes him, even threatening to ban him from playing soccer for life. At the office, Jiang Jiaqi initially plans a hotpot dinner with his colleagues and invites Zhou Yu'an.
However, a text from Jialu warning him that Yijun has arrived at the family home forces Jiaqi to leave early to manage the situation. He tells his colleagues to enjoy the meal on his tab. During the dinner, Zhou Yu'an leaves shortly after arriving, and a drunken Dong Yalin confides in a colleague about his crush on a woman at the company who is already engaged, naively believing he still has a chance.
Meanwhile, Yao Dongshan continues his secret project of stashing cash inside empty wine bottles, motivated by his plan to move back home once he fills five or six of them. On another front, Jiang Jialu grows anxious about Ai Youyou, who has joined a film crew.
While out on a delivery job with his uncle, Jialu tries to coordinate a visit, but Youyou tells him over the phone that she is exhausted from re-recording lines at the studio and simply wants to sleep, urging him not to come over so late. Gu Chen, seeking leverage, hires a photographer to tail Zhou Yu'an and Jiang Jiaqi. He obtains photos of them at a nursing home and a confrontation between Jiaqi and Yu'an's debt collector, Chen Ren.
When Gu Chen demands an explanation, Yu'an remains unfazed, arguing that she is simply following his strategy by using her tragic backstory to win Jiaqi’s sympathy. She warns Gu Chen that attacking Jiaqi for his well-known kindness will only backfire and alienate their colleagues. However, Yu'an has her own counter-move; she had someone secretly take photos of Gu Chen meeting with Yijun.
She orchestrates a situation where Gu Chen sees these photos, leaving him rattled by the realization that he is also being watched. Later, Jiang Jiaqi and his colleagues spot Deng Ning and Luo Lingling—both married—acting intimately after work. Dong Yalin records a video, hoping it will secure the Vice GM position for Jiaqi by exposing a scandal, as the Chairman despises such misconduct. However, Jiaqi immediately deletes the video, insisting he will only compete for the promotion through honorable means.
The tension between Jiaqi and Zhou Yu'an peaks when Yu'an sees that the gloves she gifted him remain unopened on his desk. Dejected, she throws them away. That evening, she follows Jiaqi into the street and confesses her feelings. In an emotional outburst, she challenges him to strike her to snap her out of her obsession. When Jiaqi tries to push her away, he accidentally knocks her to the ground.
Zhou Yu'an walks away in silence, leaving a conflicted Jiaqi behind. Unbeknownst to them, the entire incident is captured by Gu Chen’s photographer. In the aftermath, Jiaqi takes a leave of absence, and a guilt-ridden Yu'an suggests he should fire her to protect his reputation. Finally, Yijun warns Gu Chen over the phone to stop contacting her, as she is certain they are being followed.
