Jiang Jiaqi is taken away by the Inspection Office for questioning, a development that quickly reaches CEO Gu Chen. Gu Chen summons Mr. Gao, criticizing him for the clumsy and short-sighted attempt to frame Jiang. While Gu Chen acknowledges that Jiang is an obstacle, he points out that the real force blocking the SA-0988 drug approval is actually Pang Jian.

However, since the investigation has already started, Gu Chen decides to use the situation to his advantage to eventually force Jiang out of Sen’an Pharma. Meanwhile, office rumors claim Jiang accepted a bribe of 200,000 yuan in e-commerce gift cards, leaving his colleagues in disbelief. Zhou Yu’an, who secretly took the cards from Jiang’s desk, realizes the situation is escalating. Fearing that Jiang will check surveillance footage and report her, she decides to "return" the items to clear the air.

She enlists the help of a janitor she knows, instructing him to turn the cards in and claim he found them in a trash bin on the night of the incident. She specifically tells him to hand the bag over to Pang Jian’s faction, ensuring it serves as evidence of Jiang’s innocence rather than his guilt.

Determined to clear his name, Jiang Jiaqi intercepts Zhou Yu’an after work and follows her onto the metro, pleading with her to return the cards and tell the truth. However, their confrontation is misinterpreted by a "helpful" bystander who thinks Jiang is harassing the young woman. The stranger shoves Jiang out of the train car just as the doors close, leaving him stranded on the platform.

Jiang quickly calls his brother, Jialu, and their uncle to intercept Zhou Yu’an at the next station. Despite their efforts, the two men focus entirely on the escalator while Zhou Yu’an slips past them unnoticed using the stairs. Later that evening, the uncle buys fresh seafood for Jiang’s wife, Yijun, advising Jiang to keep his family together during this professional crisis. Unbeknownst to Jiang, Yijun is secretly involved with Gu Chen.

She contacts the CEO, suspecting he is behind the bribery trap, and asks him to stop targeting her husband. She promises Gu Chen that she will proceed with her divorce from Jiang once she has enough time to manage it. At home, Yijun tries to gauge if Jiang actually took the cards and suggests he leave the cutthroat environment of Sen’an Pharma. Jiang refuses, insisting he cannot leave while his reputation is tarnished by a false accusation.

A high-level meeting is held to decide Jiang’s fate. Pang Jian, who recruited Jiang and has known him for over a decade, steps up as his primary defender. During the debate, the bag of cards is produced, having been turned in by the janitor who claimed Jiang had discarded them in the trash. Pang Jian argues that Jiang’s act of throwing away the bribe proves his integrity, making the anonymous tip look like a malicious trap.

The deadlock is broken when the Chairman arrives and calls Gu Chen and Mr. Wang downstairs for coffee. The Chairman makes it clear that since the cards were recovered and Jiang is a veteran employee, the matter should be dropped to avoid a public scandal. Consequently, Jiang is officially reinstated. Later, Gu Chen, Pang Jian, and Zhou Yu’an find themselves sharing an elevator. Gu Chen’s second, secret phone begins to vibrate in his pocket.

To prevent Pang Jian from becoming suspicious of the persistent noise, Zhou Yu’an quickly reaches into Gu Chen's pocket and pulls the phone out for him. Shortly after, she overhears Jiang Jiaqi reciting his wife's phone number to a property manager regarding a parking space renewal. She recognizes the digits immediately—they match the contact information she saw on Gu Chen’s hidden phone. The shocking truth dawns on her: the CEO and Jiang Jiaqi’s wife are having a private affair.
