Resumen del episodio 13 de Loving Strangers
> Resúmenes de Loving Strangers
During a high-stakes meeting at Sen'an Pharma, Jiang Jiaqi delivers a scathing rebuttal to the official narrative regarding a clinical trial subject’s adverse reaction. While the company claims the guardian admitted to concealing a drug allergy history to expedite the trial, Jiaqi dismisses this as a fabrication intended to disqualify the subject and bury the data. He argues that since the patient had never used Alteplase before, the concept of a "history of allergy" is logically impossible.
Jiaqi reveals the truth: a Sen'an representative manipulated the guardian, Mr. Wang, into signing the statement by falsely promising his father could continue the trial. Jiaqi insists that the subject’s sudden cerebral infarction—occurring four hours after taking SA-0988 despite no prior history of the condition—must be reported to the authorities as a Suspected Unexpected Serious Adverse Reaction (SUSAR). He demands that Phase III trials be extended to ensure safety, even as Vice GM Gao and others sit in stunned silence.
Gu Chen, visibly unnerved by Jiaqi’s defiance, warns him not to let personal emotions cloud his professional judgment. Jiaqi counters that as the head of the Pharmacovigilance Department, his "emotion" is his professional conscience. He reminds everyone that with over ten million Alzheimer's patients in China, even a one percent adverse reaction rate would mean ten thousand victims. Following the meeting, Jiaqi’s mother calls to invite him and his wife, Yijun, over for her signature crispy ribbonfish.
When Jiaqi calls Yijun, she claims she is too swamped with work to attend. However, Jiaqi later overhears Gu Chen turning down a dinner invitation from Vice GM Gao because he "already has an appointment," confirming Jiaqi's suspicions that Yijun is with Gu Chen. During their secret meeting, an anxious Gu Chen pressures Yijun to convince Jiaqi to leave the company, fearing the Chairman’s growing fondness for him.
Later that evening, Jiaqi’s mother stops by with a portion of the ribbonfish specifically for Yijun. Yijun then presents Jiaqi with information about a startup in the Jiangbei High-tech Park, enticing him with promises of tax exemptions and rent-free office space if he quits Sen'an. Jiaqi remains cold and disinterested, walking out to take the trash downstairs to avoid further conversation. The Chairman and Gu Chen later go camping at Baihua Mountain.
Jiaqi, having learned the location, arrives uninvited, much to Gu Chen's dismay. While the Chairman enjoys stories of rural life, Jiaqi enters the tent to look for salt and discovers one of Yijun’s gloves tucked near the bed—confirming her presence at a previous camping trip. Outside, Jiaqi catches Gu Chen attempting to text Yijun and forcibly deletes the message, warning Gu Chen that any attempt to contact her now would result in his professional ruin.
As they pack up the camp, Jiaqi finally unloads his deep-seated resentment. He mocks Gu Chen for the naked ambition and insecurity he has shown since their university days in the choir. Jiaqi exposes the hypocrisy of Gu Chen’s affair, stating that a man so obsessed with power and status would never actually marry Yijun, a divorced woman with a child and no social standing.
Gu Chen, unable to deny the truth, falls in the heat of the tension and sustains a head injury. Jiaqi drives him toward the hospital but delivers a final ultimatum: Gu Chen must break up with Yijun immediately without letting her know that Jiaqi has discovered their betrayal. As a silent threat, Jiaqi pointedly stuffs Yijun’s other glove into the crevice of the car seat. Back home, Jiaqi finds Yijun on a video call with their son, An’an.
The boy asks for help with a school project to record a "special skill" of his father's. An’an suggests soccer ball-juggling, but Jiaqi, emotionally drained, gives a hollow response. When his brother, Jialu, calls him out for a drink, Jiaqi immediately leaves the house to escape the suffocating presence of his wife. Meanwhile, Jialu is at a tavern with Youyou, a young actress from his project.
He offers a rare apology for his harsh criticism of her acting, though he suggests her agent was foolish to place her in such a low-paying role. Youyou quietly admits it was her own choice to follow him, even as Jiaqi arrives to seek solace in drink.
