> Resúmenes de Granting You a Dreamlike Life
Xu Xingcheng sought to expand his influence by forging alliances with the Hong and Lin families. He told Hong Zhengbao and Lin Daoshan that his efforts were for a better future for himself and Hong Lan. However, Hong Zhengbao found Xu Xingcheng's idea "interesting" but explained that his family had many internal issues. He also stated he was too old to expand their business, suggesting that the younger generation, particularly Lin Qikai, should consider it later.
Lin Daoshan echoed this sentiment, agreeing that they were old and it was already difficult just to maintain their current ventures. Xu Xingcheng acknowledged their stance but, after they left, he angrily mumbled that the "two old things" looked down on him. Soon after, Xu Xingcheng received a report that Hong Lan and Luo Fusheng had been seen acting intimately at a cafe.
Fueled by rage and alcohol, he returned home reeking of alcohol and confronted Hong Lan, accusing her of being disrespectful and unfaithful. Hong Lan, maintaining her innocence, asserted that her long-standing friendship with Luo Fusheng was well-known and she had done nothing wrong. She pointed out that Xu Xingcheng's anger stemmed from his own insecurity and inferiority to Luo Fusheng. Enraged, Xu Xingcheng ordered her to stop mentioning Luo Fusheng, threatening unpredictable consequences, and then violently assaulted her.
Hong Zhengbao, unaware of the abuse, had earlier expressed regret over marrying Hong Lan to Xu Xingcheng, lamenting his misjudgment. Meanwhile, Tianying's voice had fully recovered. She met Luo Fusheng and sang for him, fulfilling her promise that he would be her first audience. Luo Fusheng was delighted by her performance of a song prepared for their opera film, describing it as "dream-like." Tianying promised to invite him to the film's premiere, to which he readily agreed.
The next day, Xu Xingyuan took Hong Lan to a quiet art gallery, a place Hong Lan frequented when upset. Xu Xingyuan noticed bruises on Hong Lan's arm and asked if Xu Xingcheng had hit her, but Hong Lan tried to dismiss it, claiming she fell. Soon, Lin Qikai arrived, having been called by a worried Xu Xingyuan. As they walked, Lin Qikai inadvertently pulled Hong Lan's arm, exposing a severe bruise.
Hong Lan again claimed she fell, but Lin Qikai and Xu Xingyuan clearly understood Xu Xingcheng was responsible. Lin Qikai, furious, immediately rushed to the police station to confront Xu Xingcheng. Lin Qikai demanded to know why Xu Xingcheng had physically abused Hong Lan. Xu Xingcheng, unrepentant, argued that as Hong Lan's husband, her treatment was his private matter.
He then tried to manipulate Lin Qikai by painting Hong Lan as a manipulative woman who used others, including Lin Qikai and Luo Fusheng, for her own benefit, and married him only for the sake of the Hong family. Lin Qikai vehemently denied this, stating that Hong Lan had said nothing to him and silently endured her pain, and he had discovered her injuries himself. He asserted that he knew her true character from living with her.
Lin Qikai then confronted Xu Xingcheng, asking why he married Hong Lan if he knew she loved Luo Fusheng, arguing that he should have treated her kindly, as she was like a sister to them. Xu Xingcheng retorted that Lin Qikai should not compare Hong Lan to Xu Xingyuan. Lin Qikai expressed deep disappointment, calling Xu Xingcheng's heart "vicious" and lamenting that Hong Lan's only "sin" was marrying him.
Xu Xingcheng, in turn, blamed Lin Qikai and Luo Fusheng for his own unhappiness, asking why neither of them married Hong Lan if they cared so much for her. He declared that since he couldn't have Tianying's love, he would make Hong Lan suffer the same pain and torment with him.
Lin Qikai, realizing Xu Xingcheng was beyond reason and following in his father's wicked footsteps, declared that he would no longer consider their past brotherhood and severed all ties with him. Lin Qikai then informed Luo Fusheng about Hong Lan's suffering. Luo Fusheng, who had suspected Hong Lan's unhappiness with Xu Xingcheng, was enraged and wanted to immediately confront Xu Xingcheng.
However, Lin Qikai stopped him, explaining that Xu Xingcheng was no longer the man they knew, and any impulsive action would only lead to further retaliation against Hong Lan. He revealed he had already tried to reason with Xu Xingcheng to no avail, concluding that the only way to help Hong Lan was to get her away from Xu Xingcheng, though they currently had no legitimate means to do so. That same night, Xu Xingcheng entered Hong Lan's room again.
He mocked her for feigning arrogance with him but playing the pitiful victim in front of others, especially Lin Qikai. Hong Lan ordered him to leave, but Xu Xingcheng asserted his authority, declaring her his wife and then violently grabbed her neck, vowing to keep her with him as his punishment to her. Meanwhile, Tianying and Huang Xinghan continued their work, filming during the day and preparing for their revolutionary "night scene."
Huang Xinghan cautioned Tianying about the inherent danger and the lack of remuneration, but Tianying affirmed her commitment, stating that the best acting was found in real life, as he had taught her. She expressed her readiness for the risks and her preparation for various contingencies, and they agreed to "cooperate happily" in this perilous new venture. That night, Xu Xingcheng secretly met Feiyan, a Japanese spy, as Hong Lan, suspicious of his movements, secretly followed him.
Feiyan, after offering Xu Xingcheng a "victory tea" he wasn't yet worthy of, admonished him for his failed "soft approach" to the Hong and Lin families, whose leaders refused to cooperate. She warned him that the Japanese's patience was wearing thin, and if he failed to secure the families' loyalty, they would intervene directly, leaving him without leverage. As Feiyan concluded, Hong Lan accidentally made a noise, alerting Xu Xingcheng.
He pursued her, but Tianying and Huang Xinghan, who had been monitoring Xu Xingcheng, intervened. Tianying feigned tracking a suspect, implying danger, and Xu Xingcheng, distracted and wanting to protect her, abandoned the chase, offering to escort Tianying back, claiming the "suspect" had escaped. Tianying subtly reminded Xu Xingcheng of his initial aspiration to be a good policeman. Huang Xinghan, while with Hong Lan, could not disclose details but revealed Tianying had saved her.
He warned Hong Lan that Xu Xingcheng was cunning and she must show no signs of her discovery to protect herself. Hong Lan assured Huang Xinghan of her discretion and gratitude. Luo Fusheng and Lin Qikai visited Hong Zhengbao, informing him of Hong Lan's evident unhappiness and physical abuse at the Xu household. Hong Zhengbao, filled with remorse for his misguided efforts in arranging the marriage, lamented Hong Lan's suffering.
Luo Fusheng insisted on bringing Hong Lan home immediately, but Hong Zhengbao urged him to handle another urgent matter first, promising to deal with Xu Xingcheng himself. It was revealed that the Xinglong Pavilion had been contracted by the Japanese to assassinate Hong Zhengbao during a business meeting, as he refused to align with them. The Japanese offered a substantial sum, which Qian Kuohai reported to Lin Daoshan.
Qian Kuohai reaffirmed Xinglong Pavilion's loyalty to Lin Daoshan, crediting him for their success over the Hong family. Lin Daoshan, knowing Hong Zhengbao's stubborn nature would prevent him from retreating, instructed Qian Kuohai to feign loyalty to the Japanese and "put on a good show" but secretly protect Hong Zhengbao during the ambush. Hong Zhengbao, despite warnings from his attendant that the Japanese meeting was a trap, resolved to attend.
He believed that retreating would show weakness and lead to future oppression, so he intended to "give them a head-on blow" to assert the Hong family's strength. As his car approached, it was ambushed. Hong Zhengbao recognized the initial attackers as Xinglong Pavilion members attempting to warn him, a gesture he appreciated despite their past animosity. However, the Japanese, distrusting Xinglong Pavilion, sent their own forces. In the ensuing firefight, Hong Zhengbao was mortally wounded.
Luo Fusheng arrived just as Hong Zhengbao was dying. With his last breaths, Hong Zhengbao apologized to Luo Fusheng for his past wrongs, admitting he had misjudged him and had been misled by Xu Xingcheng. He also expressed regret for once asking Luo Fusheng to kill Tianying, acknowledging the difficult position he put him in. Luo Fusheng revealed that Lin Daoshan had informed him of the danger, which is why he came.
Hong Zhengbao, referring to Lin Daoshan as his "big brother," declared he had lived a worthwhile life and wished to be brothers with him again in the next life. Overwhelmed with grief, Luo Fusheng desperately pleaded with his godfather not to die. Hong Zhengbao, expressing his deep concern for Hong Lan, who had never known hardship, entrusted her safety and care to Luo Fusheng before passing away in his arms.
Lin Daoshan was deeply shocked and saddened upon hearing of Hong Zhengbao's death. Xu Xingcheng also learned of the assassination and confronted Feiyan, expressing outrage that she had killed his father-in-law when the plan was only to warn him. Feiyan calmly explained that Hong Zhengbao's defiance left them no choice but to eliminate him, asserting that with Hong Zhengbao gone, the Hong family was leaderless and their fate was now entirely in their hands.
Back at home, Hong Lan mourned her father. A close associate, referred to as Sister Shuang, comforted her and confirmed that Hu Manli had been sent back to her hometown as requested. Hong Lan expressed her profound sorrow and vowed to avenge her father's death, which she believed was caused by Japanese treachery, and to ensure he received a dignified funeral.
Sister Shuang confirmed that invitations for a grand funeral, expected to be attended by all Dongjiang's prominent figures, had been sent out. Sister Shuang then suggested that with Hong Zhengbao gone, it was time to appoint a successor and asked Hong Lan if she felt capable of taking over. Hong Lan, however, revealed that she had a more suitable person in mind: Luo Fusheng.
