> Resúmenes de A Robot in the Orange Orchard
Lu Sen was pleased to receive his necklace back. He asked Friday if she had seen the return address, which bore the name "Mung-Bean-Eyed Stingy Monster." Lu Sen quipped about his deep-set eyes while Friday commented on the sender's thoughtfulness and the cute packaging. Lu Sen explained that the orange-shaped necklace was a gift from his father to his mother, significant because his parents had planted an orange tree together in the greenhouse when he was little.
His father had given his mother the necklace because she loved oranges, symbolizing "the only precious being in one's heart." Friday found the story "so romantic" and remarked that Lu Sen sounded like a human when he spoke like that. She also wondered if he was feeling down about his relationship. Perceptive about Lu Sen's mood, Friday suggested a walk. Lu Sen decided to take her to the greenhouse, a place previously off-limits to everyone.
He told Friday she was now a "cutie," so he would allow her entry. Inside, Friday was awestruck by the beauty. Lu Sen shared that the greenhouse held his fondest memories, especially the orange tree, which had grown from a small sapling. Friday praised his dedication to its care and promised to care for him similarly. She then asked if he ever felt lonely, like the solitary tree.
Lu Sen admitted he felt different lately and asked Friday what she observed. She noted that his eyes had changed, showing "anticipation of building a close relationship," meaning he wanted to make friends. Lu Sen was surprised she could discern this, and Friday gently reminded him that "everyone needs a friend."
Lu Sen confessed that he had long been accustomed to a solitary life due to a "very special allergy" that prevented close contact and could even be deadly if he wasn't careful. He demonstrated by letting out a sudden, loud shout, which startled Friday. He emphasized that this condition must remain a secret, especially from outsiders, as he was only telling her because he considered her a friend.
Friday inquired if Kang Li'er knew, and Lu Sen confirmed she did not. Friday then suggested that Lu Sen's recent changes might be connected to Kang Li'er. Lu Sen recalled that Kang Li'er had proposed marriage, which had "frightened" him, as he only considered her his best and only friend in the world.
Friday pressed further, asking if he felt anything beyond friendship for Kang Li'er, describing feelings like restlessness when apart and sudden ease when together, as if "the whole world seemed to have disappeared." Lu Sen found himself relating to the feeling of wanting to "not do anything." Friday advised him to let Kang Li'er feel his dependence and to spend more time with her. Lu Sen, however, mentioned his allergy made him want to keep a distance.
Friday urged him not to dwell on his illness, pointing out how naturally he acted with her, and suggested he could be the same with Kang Li'er. She offered advice on using "gentle and determined" eye contact to build trust. Just as Lu Sen was contemplating this, he announced that the ingredients he ordered had arrived and quickly left, with Friday following. Meanwhile, Kang Li'er made a stylish appearance at IMU to visit Li Zhan.
He was happy to see her, making a flirtatious remark about her visit causing office gossip. Kang Li'er teased him about his "smooth talker" ways, offering to teach him how to attract women. Li Zhan feigned disinterest in dating, especially with her beauty around. Kang Li'er presented him with a gift, and Li Zhan, having nothing prepared, offered to buy her anything she desired.
Kang Li'er, however, simply asked him to accompany her to Lu Sen's house for dinner, saying she had already made arrangements. Li Zhan appeared hesitant, confirming if she was serious about him joining her at Lu Sen's. Back at the manor, Lu Sen decided to prepare a 13-spice crayfish dish, recalling that Kang Li'er couldn't eat spicy food and missed authentic crayfish while studying abroad.
He asked Friday to wash the crayfish, but Friday, programmed to "tremble and scream at multilegged animals and insects," reacted with fear. Lu Sen, finding her reaction amusing and human-like, criticized Dr. Fu Yang for adding such "functions." He then called Team Alpha, offering them double pay to wash the crayfish, much to their dismay. As they left the Alpha team to deal with the crayfish, Lu Sen started cooking. Friday expressed surprise at his culinary skills.
Lu Sen explained that he learned to cook out of necessity, having grown up "eating alone" and eventually getting tired of instant noodles because he "couldn't eat other people's cooking." He revealed that having "premium ingredients" simplified the process. Later, Lu Sen asked Friday to help him choose a suit. Friday suggested he wear something Kang Li'er would like. Lu Sen remembered a suit Kang Li'er had given him.
Friday enthusiastically approved of his choice, calling him "so handsome" when he was dressed. Friday then made to leave, saying her work was done. Lu Sen, however, stopped her, insisting she stay. He argued that the large house would seem "strange" if Li'er found him alone, and reminded her of his recent near-fatal allergy attack, implying he needed her presence for safety. Friday agreed to stay.
Lu Sen then informed her that "a stranger" (Li Zhan) would also be present and he did not want him to know she was a robot. He instructed her to "act like a normal person" and assume the role of his "personal assistant," reminding her to drop her robotic "etiquette hands" and remain in "friend mode" all night, without her usual "jumping around." When Kang Li'er and Li Zhan arrived, Li Zhan immediately felt slighted.
His seat was far from Lu Sen's, his cutlery was different, and he wasn't even offered a water cup, unlike Kang Li'er. He observed Lu Sen drinking water while he had nothing. Lu Sen coldly told him to "be quiet at the dining table."
Kang Li'er, trying to ease the tension, mentioned that she had bought both Lu Sen and Li Zhan the same suits (which they were both wearing), reminiscing about their childhood when they were often mistaken for twins and hoping they would stop their bickering. Li Zhan then inquired about Friday, and Lu Sen introduced her as his "personal assistant." Li Zhan, ever suspicious, questioned why Lu Sen needed a human assistant when he typically preferred "full A. I. home appliances."
Lu Sen deflected the conversation by offering Kang Li'er duck. Friday then served the food, explaining that Lu Sen had prepared the Chinese dishes especially for Kang Li'er because of her time abroad. Kang Li'er praised Lu Sen's thoughtfulness, and Li Zhan sarcastically echoed the sentiment. Li Zhan then challenged Friday, asking if the meal was truly prepared for him, expressing distrust and jokingly asking if Lu Sen intended to poison him.
Friday clarified that Lu Sen had also prepared crayfish, with various dipping sauces, for Kang Li'er. When asked about her own preference, Friday admitted she liked spicy crayfish, which Kang Li'er couldn't eat. Li Zhan seemed to notice something unusual about Friday. He suggested they all sit together, but Lu Sen quickly interjected that Friday had already eaten. Kang Li'er tried to ask for Friday's name, but Lu Sen abruptly introduced her as "Xing."
Kang Li'er then mentioned seeing many people in work uniforms in the manor, asking their purpose, to which Lu Sen vaguely replied, "Cleaning." Li Zhan brought up his big data projects at IMU, expressing that they felt "not very valued" compared to Lu Sen's focus on A. I. home appliances. Friday subtly hinted that Lu Sen might not be entirely indifferent to human-related projects. Li Zhan retorted, accusing Lu Sen of "deliberately targeting me."
Kang Li'er intervened, suggesting they stop their arguments, then asked Lu Sen if she could secure a position at IMU with her qualifications. Lu Sen welcomed her, stating she could have "any position." Li Zhan then cynically proposed, "Wouldn't you be better off as the wife of the boss of IMU?" Kang Li'er, to everyone's surprise, admitted that her family did have such plans.
Feeling like he was brought there solely to be "the first to know about your marriage," a furious Li Zhan abruptly left. As he departed, Lu Sen instructed Xing to serve soup to Kang Li'er and then "throw away everything that guy has used" as punishment. Outside the manor, Li Zhan called someone, ordering them to "keep an eye on" the "female assistant in the villa," stating he found her "very problematic."
Back inside, Lu Sen was still annoyed about wearing the same suit as Li Zhan, declaring he simply didn't want "an outfit clash." Xing playfully teased him about being jealous. Lu Sen asked Xing to choose another outfit for him, one that she liked. He then confirmed that the others hadn't suspected her true nature and praised her "good awareness" in maintaining her human facade.
