The City Owner realizes Chen Qianqian genuinely loves Han Shuo, as the cinnabar dot, a symbol of purity, remains on Qianqian’s wrist, indicating their marriage has not been consummated. However, she suspects Han Shuo used Qianqian to obtain the Dragon Bone. Seeing Han Shuo as ambitious and manipulative, the City Owner vows to strip him of his newfound health, making him "a worthless person again."
She coldly remarks that if she must keep someone around, it should be "an obedient dog," implying Qianqian will be kept in line. Meanwhile, Minister Yang, a hidden agent for Xuanhu City, meets with Han Shuo. She informs him that news of him consuming the Dragon Bone has been sent back to Xuanhu City and thanks him for the diversion created by the fireworks that exposed Chen Chuchu’s activities, allowing her to meet with him.
Han Shuo clarifies he didn't orchestrate the fireworks. With his heart disease cured, Minister Yang states their next step is to seize Huayuan City's black stone mine. After affirming her loyalty due to her family ties in Xuanhu City, Han Shuo asks Minister Yang to protect Chen Qianqian and defend her reputation if any future incidents arise, emphasizing his desire to prevent any further harm to Qianqian.
Chen Chuchu, who sustained severe injuries during her failed mission, refuses to report them to the City Owner, fearing her mother's disappointment and accusations of uselessness. Her subordinate, Zi Zhu, questions how Chen Qianqian knew the Dragon Bone’s hidden location, suggesting favoritism from the City Owner. Chen Chuchu dismisses this, attributing Qianqian’s discovery to mere coincidence, but Zi Zhu presses further, questioning if the fireworks, which also caused Chuchu’s injury, were also just a coincidence.
Chen Qianqian, determined to avoid the upcoming Kung Fu test, stages an elaborate act, pretending that the poison she ingested has rendered her martial arts abilities completely useless, declaring herself "a worthless person." When Han Shuo arrives, concerned, she exaggerates her despair, even feigning a craving for pomegranates she later rejects. She proposes annulling their marriage and urges him to seek refuge with Chen Chuchu, believing this will redirect the story according to her original script.
Han Shuo reveals Chen Chuchu is severely injured and details how the fireworks from the previous night exposed Chuchu’s secret mission, leading to her injury. Qianqian feigns surprise and dismisses the fireworks as a mere "accident." Han Shuo steadfastly refuses to leave her. Once alone, Qianqian congratulates herself on her acting prowess for protecting her life, but she is still frustrated that Han Shuo refused to leave, resolving to find another opportunity to push him towards Chen Chuchu.
Lord Sangqi arrives at Qianqian's mansion, delivering the City Owner's decree: Han Shuo is accused of seducing Chen Qianqian into stealing the Dragon Bone, and as punishment, a rib will be surgically removed from him to appease public outrage and restore order. Qianqian is horrified, realizing her actions have inadvertently endangered Han Shuo. The City Owner arrives, explaining the severe punishment is necessary because Han Shuo "damaged the fortune of Huayuan City."
Qianqian desperately pleads with her mother, offering to take the punishment herself, stating she alone stole the Dragon Bone and forced Han Shuo to drink it. She argues that such an injury would leave the proud Han Shuo disabled, a fate worse than death for him. The City Owner counters that Qianqian wouldn't have caused such chaos without Han Shuo's influence and that Qianqian is now branded a "bane of civilians."
Qianqian vehemently insists on bearing the consequences, proclaiming herself "his rib," and continues to offer her own body for punishment, but the City Owner orders her guards to pull her away. Amidst the chaos, Han Shuo awakens. Qianqian tearfully apologizes, explaining she only stole the Dragon Bone to cure his heart disease, never intending for him to suffer. Han Shuo, now fully recovered and demonstrably powerful, effortlessly breaks his chains, shielding Qianqian behind him.
He then voluntarily offers himself for the bone removal, believing his punishment will exonerate Qianqian. Qianqian, concerned for his life, tries to refuse, but Han Shuo asserts that as a princess, she must face consequences, and his punishment is for her sake. Qianqian, in an impulsive act, declares she no longer wants to be a princess and pleads with her mother to strip her of her title and make her a commoner if it means escaping responsibility.
The City Owner initially rejects this. However, Lord Sangqi intervenes, highlighting Han Shuo and Qianqian's "unbreakable love" and cautioning the City Owner that continued defiance would only worsen Qianqian’s predicament. Ultimately, the City Owner compromises, issuing a decree that Chen Qianqian is "stubborn and disobedient," guilty of stealing the Dragon Bone and "damaging the fortune of the city."
Consequently, she is stripped of her princess title, reduced to a commoner, deprived of all privileges, and confined to her mansion to reflect on her mistakes. News of Chen Qianqian's demotion spreads quickly, shocking many who thought she was the City Owner's favorite. Whispers about Han Shuo's miraculous recovery and enhanced strength contrast sharply with Qianqian, now deemed a "worthless person."
At the Clan School, students gossip about Qianqian's inability to attend and even speculate she orchestrated her demotion to avoid classes. Meanwhile, the Eldest Princess, Chen Yuanjuan, who has been disabled by poison for many years, dismisses concerns for Qianqian, noting Qianqian’s audacity in stealing the Dragon Bone.
Although her attendant points out that Dragon Bone cannot cure Yuanjuan's specific ailment, Yuanjuan, while acknowledging her mother’s continued favoritism towards Qianqian, admits that Qianqian’s willingness to sacrifice her status for someone else makes her "better than before." Later, while struggling to retrieve a book at the Clan School, Chen Yuanjuan is helped by Su Mu, who then kneels to speak to her at eye level. Her attendants object, belittling Su Mu as "just a musician."
Yuanjuan rebukes them, asserting that "musicians are not different from ordinary people" and forbidding gossip. She later reflects that Su Mu is the only person who has ever shown her such respect, making him unique. Lin Qi, gloating over Chen Qianqian's downfall, leads a mob of debt collectors to Yueli Mansion. She asserts that Qianqian, now merely "a commoner," is vulnerable to demands for repayment and retribution.
The creditors recount long-standing debts for luxury goods and outrageous demands for free items. Qianqian, seemingly resigned, instructs her servant Zi Rui to allow the creditors to take everything from the mansion to settle the accounts. Despite her mansion being emptied, Lin Qi is still not satisfied. She brings forward a man who claims Qianqian's reckless horse-riding on her wedding day caused his leg fracture. Qianqian accuses him of trying to cheat her.
As Qianqian expresses her helplessness, Han Shuo steps forward, proclaiming he will "solve" the problem and proudly declares, "I will support you." Lin Qi mocks their "love" and belittles Qianqian’s new status. As Han Shuo warns the crowd not to touch Qianqian, Pei Heng arrives with his private guard.
He reminds everyone that regardless of her title, Qianqian is his fiancée of over ten years and offers to settle all her financial and personal debts at Pei Mansion, even suggesting they take his own leg if compensation is needed. Lin Qi attempts to provoke him by mentioning Han Shuo's recovery and the enduring engagement, but Pei Heng calmly states that Han Shuo's health does not alter his "teacher and student relationship" with Qianqian.
He then powerfully declares that Qianqian, as the City Owner's daughter, the future City Owner’s sister, accompanied by Xuanhu City’s young master, and still his fiancée, "is still the most honorable woman in Huayuan City." Enraged, Lin Qi shoves Qianqian into a large water pot. Han Shuo immediately dives in to rescue her. Chen Qianqian falls ill with a cold. Pei Heng diligently attends to her, and when she struggles to sleep, he plays the Qin, reminiscing about their childhood.
Qianqian expresses gratitude for his care, acknowledging the unfamiliar warmth of having someone look after her when sick. Pei Heng eventually departs, citing the late hour and propriety. Soon after, Han Shuo, who had been secretly listening and grew jealous, enters and roughly administers medicine to Qianqian. He states that since he can't play the Qin, he can only ensure her quick recovery.
Qianqian shares glimpses of her past life as a scriptwriter, recalling times she had to work even when sick, with no time for dating, and being mocked by actors. Han Shuo, attributing her disjointed words to feverish delirium, checks her temperature. Qianqian calls him her "big tiger." The next morning, Han Shuo instructs Zi Rui to lock the doors, particularly against Pei Heng, to ensure Qianqian's rest.
Later, despite being stripped of her title and possessions, Qianqian expresses a sense of freedom and contentment, proclaiming that "with Han Shuo, I have everything in the world." Han Shuo reassures her he has ample wealth from Xuanhu City to support her. Qianqian then playfully questions whether his funds are "dowry" or "betrothal presents," subtly suggesting she wishes to manage them.
Though initially correcting her, Han Shuo eventually relents, instructing Bai Ji to bring the account books and playfully suggesting he'd agree to call them "dowry" if she'd call him "husband." Qianqian is surprised, but Han Shuo assures her he won't force her.
