Chen Qianqian, having foresight into the original storyline, strategically arranged for Zi Rui to pretend to be asleep in the storeroom. As expected, Su Ziying discreetly placed a defense map there and then sent a secret report to Chen Chuchu. Realizing Su Ziying's intention to frame her, Chen Qianqian decided to allow the plot to unfold, hoping to use this opportunity to relinquish her position as Young City Owner.
Upon receiving the anonymous tip-off, Chen Chuchu swiftly assembled her guards and headed to Yueli Mansion. However, she found that an accuser had already arrived. Su Ziying, who worked in Chen Qianqian's mansion, now reported her for plotting rebellion. As Chen Chuchu's forces began their search, no defense map was found. Su Ziying, convinced of his own discovery, led them to the alleged hiding spot, but instead of the map, they uncovered a collection of portraits of Pei Heng.
Han Shuo had anticipated Su Ziying's scheme and had Bai Ji secretly swap the defense map with these portraits. Pei Heng arrived shortly after, witnessing the scene and the scattered portraits of himself. Su Ziying, cornered, desperately insisted that Chen Qianqian was cunning and must have replaced the map after noticing his intentions.
When accused of colluding with Chen Chuchu, Su Ziying quickly denied her involvement, claiming he acted alone due to a deep-seated private grudge against Chen Qianqian, whom he believed was brutal and undeserving of her position. Chen Qianqian, bewildered, wondered when she had ever offended him. Chen Chuchu, despite the chaotic outcome, ordered Su Ziying to be imprisoned for framing the Young City Owner, awaiting his punishment.
Later, Han Shuo came to Chen Qianqian, revealing his role in swapping the map. He proudly declared that he would always protect her and gloated that Pei Heng would now be too ashamed to face her. Chen Qianqian was furious, accusing him of ruining her plan and humiliating both her and Pei Heng. She mockingly suggested they divorce if he was so bothered by the situation.
Han Shuo immediately backtracked, offering an excuse that the portraits were likely old, forgotten items she kept out of youthful curiosity. He then warned her not to mention divorce again. Word of Chen Qianqian secretly keeping Pei Heng's portraits quickly spread, damaging Pei Heng's reputation and sparking city-wide gossip. Despite the scandal, Pei Heng, who had secretly harbored feelings for Chen Qianqian, visited her.
He dismissed her apologies, expressed his enduring affection, and confessed that he now understood his true feelings for her after Han Shuo's appearance. Pei Heng declared that he would no longer yield her to anyone and had already requested the City Owner to annul her marriage to Han Shuo so that he could marry her as per their childhood engagement. Distraught, Chen Qianqian rushed to her mother, the City Owner, adamantly denying any romantic feelings for Pei Heng.
Her mother, however, questioned her sincerity given the discovered portraits and expressed her long-standing disapproval of Han Shuo's character, favoring the familiar and dependable Pei Heng. Chen Qianqian proposed a compromise: she would agree to divorce Han Shuo but pleaded not to be forced into marrying Pei Heng, reasoning that she couldn't break Pei Heng's heart right after Han Shuo's.
The City Owner agreed not to push her into an immediate marriage with Pei Heng but insisted on the divorce from Han Shuo. Chen Qianqian asked for time to discuss it with Han Shuo, describing him as a "tiger with a bad temper" who needed careful handling. Meanwhile, in prison, Su Ziying desperately demanded to see Chen Chuchu.
Later, a servant from Pei Heng's mansion delivered a box of red beans to Chen Qianqian, explicitly stating they were a token of love, not for cooking. Han Shuo, witnessing this, became enraged, throwing the servant out and ordering Bai Ji to scatter the red beans at Pei Heng's gate. He passionately reiterated his love for Chen Qianqian, declaring he couldn't live without her, and subtly warned her that he could become uncontrollable if pushed too far.
Feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her true feelings and the chaotic plot, Chen Qianqian sought advice from the three old storytellers. Using fruit analogies, she described Pei Heng (Peach) confessing to her (Orange) and her fear of Han Shuo (Banana) reacting violently, recalling his original destructive tendencies.
She reminisced about two crucial scenes from her original script's ending: Chen Yuanyuan (Apple's sister) choosing Su Mu as her husband during the Double Seventh Festival's embroidered ball event, and Han Shuo's subsequent bombing of the city, which would injure the City Owner. With the Double Seventh Festival fast approaching, Chen Qianqian worried that Han Shuo, despite the changed circumstances, might still revert to his original violent plan. Unbeknownst to Chen Qianqian, Han Shuo met with Xuanhu City officials.
They informed him of their City Owner's orders to plant explosives and assassinate Huayuan's City Owner during the festival parade, aiming to conquer Huayuan City in the resulting chaos. They pressed him to act, reminding him that his heart ailment was cured and the black stone mine awaited. Han Shuo, however, remained hesitant, asserting that the time was not right yet and warning them against acting rashly.
The officials expressed their frustration, accusing him of wavering for a woman and reminding him that Chen Qianqian could become his maidservant after their victory. At a banquet hosted by Chen Qianqian in her mother's stead, Chen Chuchu, under the influence of alcohol, cornered Han Shuo and confessed her feelings for him, recalling when he saved her. Han Shuo firmly rejected her advances, advising her to keep her feelings to herself to avoid causing trouble, especially for Chen Qianqian.
Chen Chuchu retorted, questioning why Chen Qianqian had everything when she didn't even truly love him and hadn't yet rejected Pei Heng's engagement. Han Shuo vowed to invalidate that engagement. During the banquet, Xuanhu officials, deliberately provocative, demanded that Chen Qianqian pour them wine or perform a dance. Pei Heng intervened, defending Chen Qianqian's status and Huayuan City's custom of female superiority.
Chen Qianqian then facetiously offered to have Han Shuo perform a dance, recalling his past performance at the Music and Dance Academy, which prompted the Xuanhu officials to quickly back down, unwilling to embarrass their Young Master. The City Owner, having observed the Xuanhu officials' early arrival and suspicious conduct, ordered Chen Chuchu to covertly investigate the city's defenses.
She also decided to test Han Shuo's true feelings for Chen Qianqian by ordering their divorce and arranging Chen Qianqian's marriage to Pei Heng, leaking this news to Han Shuo. Han Shuo's jealousy surged, deepening his indecision regarding the Xuanhu invasion plan. Later, as Pei Heng walked Chen Qianqian home, he reiterated his love and devotion. Chen Qianqian, however, clearly rejected his romantic advances, stating that her feelings for him were of friendship, not romantic love.
She then asked him to inform her mother that he didn't love her, hoping to annul the marriage order. The next day, Chen Qianqian visited her elder sister Chen Yuanyuan and found Su Mu attending to her. Chen Qianqian asked Su Mu to spend more time with Pei Heng to help him cope with her rejection. While doing so, she inadvertently mentioned Su Mu and Chen Yuanyuan's mutual affection, "spoiling" their unacknowledged feelings. Chen Yuanyuan was initially flustered but soon smiled upon realizing the truth in her sister's words. Chen Qianqian quickly made her exit.
