Mr. Shao confronted Lady Hong and Bai Suche with his Tai'e Sword. Lady Hong scoffed, questioning his power if his sword were neutralized, but Mr. Shao dismissed her "parlor tricks" as insufficient to counter the Tai'e Sword. Liu Yan then appeared, disguised as a healer, and exchanged taunts with Mr. Shao. As their forces engaged, Mr. Shao confronted Liu Yan.

Mr. Shao asked why Liu Yan, a descendant of the All-Seeing Tower, had turned to evil, but Liu Yan simply challenged him, asking whether Tang Lici would arrive to save him before he perished. Meanwhile, Tang Lici pursued a different path, a strategy pre-arranged with Mr. Shao to have the latter act as bait to draw out Liu Yan while Tang Lici rescued Zhong Chunji. Yu Qifeng’s adopted son, suspicious of Tang Lici, accompanied him.

He questioned Tang Lici’s unhindered progress, suggesting collusion with Liu Yan's Unfettered Guild. Tang Lici explained that Liu Yan's specialty was toxic sorcery, with seemingly harmless plants concealing deadly venom, contrasting this with the unpredictable nature of human treachery. He revealed he had been secretly neutralizing the poisonous flora and found a zombie parasite on Yu Qifeng’s son, removing it just before it could infect him. Tang Lici then affirmed he was not the Yique Yinyang, despite the son’s suspicions.

Soon after, a human puppet of Yu Qifeng appeared. Deceived by the puppet, the adopted son, who had long harbored a grudge against Tang Lici for killing his foster father, stabbed an unguarded Tang Lici in the chest. Believing Tang Lici was now mortally wounded, the puppet revealed its true nature, boasting of the impending destruction of the Sword Association and its plans to conquer the Citadel and Azure Abode Palace.

The puppet praised its "good son" for the attack but then turned on him, attempting to kill them both. The adopted son, finally seeing his father’s monstrous betrayal, realized he had been used. Urged on by Tang Lici, he pulled the sword from Tang Lici’s chest, condemning the puppet as not his true father before collapsing. Freed, Tang Lici swiftly defeated the puppet. Yu Qifeng’s son, filled with remorse, apologized.

Tang Lici instructed him to rest and await backup while he proceeded to rescue Zhong Chunji. Tang Lici soon located Zhong Chunji, finding her in a room protected by traps and a poison mist. Hua Wuyan, Liu Yan's disciple, appeared, explaining he was instructed to delay him. Hua Wuyan revealed a "Moonlit Mirror" that allowed them to monitor the battle outside, where the Central Plains Sword Association was being slaughtered.

He taunted that if Tang Lici left the cage-like trap he was in, Zhong Chunji would be forfeit. However, Tang Lici revealed that the figure in the cage was merely an illusion, stating that "without self, form vanishes," having already escaped the trap. Tang Lici confronted Hua Wuyan, who acknowledged his inability to win in a direct fight.

Hua Wuyan revealed his past as a child outcast called a "monster" until Liu Yan rescued him, telling him his "cursed power" was a gift. Hua Wuyan proclaimed his life’s sole purpose was to serve Liu Yan. Tang Lici attempted to reason with him, saying even monsters had choices beyond corruption, but Hua Wuyan defiantly stated this was his chosen path.

He then unleashed a self-destructive technique, sacrificing himself to win once for his master by causing the area where Zhong Chunji was held to flood. Submerged in the rising waters, Zhong Chunji's consciousness drifted, haunted by childhood memories of abandonment. She fought against despair, vowing to "become fate’s master." Just as she was about to succumb, Tang Lici appeared and rescued her. He transferred some of his vital energy to her and noticed a butterfly tattoo on her back.

Meanwhile, Mr. Shao’s forces were overwhelmed, and many disciples were poisoned by Hua Wuyan’s lingering blood mist, which had mutated and rendered antidotes useless. Mr. Shao, seeing the dire situation, resolved to unleash the full power of the Tai'e Sword to vanquish Liu Yan, even at the cost of his life. However, Liu Yan had anticipated this, revealing a "Frost Bind" trap specifically designed to neutralize the sword at that moment, aiming to plunge Mr. Shao into absolute despair.

Just as Mr. Shao was being frozen, Wanyu Yuedan arrived. Invoking a celestial array, she dispelled the widespread poison. Tang Lici arrived shortly after and saved Mr. Shao. Mr. Shao, now reunited with Zhong Chunji, vowed to protect every disciple and slay Liu Yan. Tang Lici confronted Liu Yan, accusing him of pointlessly sacrificing Hua Wuyan.

Liu Yan retorted by taunting Tang Lici about how many had died for him to save Zhong Chunji, and mocked him for his deceptions at the Azure Abode Palace, revealing he had found the All-Seeing Tower empty. Tang Lici dismissed the provocations, stating that Liu Yan had exhausted all his tricks. He then gave the signal to Shen Langhun, who ignited explosives planted throughout the Peony Tower. The entire structure was obliterated. Liu Yan, to preserve his strength, hastily retreated.

The Central Plains Sword Association celebrated their hard-won victory. In the aftermath, some disciples criticized Zhong Chunji for her reckless actions, which they believed led to heavy casualties. Tang Lici accepted Mr. Jiang’s apologies for his past doubts but expressed concern that Liu Yan’s escape meant he would commit worse atrocities in the future. As everyone recovered, there was still no news of Mr. Puzhu. Elsewhere, Lady Xifang Tao, looking at the night sky with an injured Puzhu, wondered about her reasons for joining the Unfettered Guild and contemplated their shared fate.
