Upon his return to the country, Lan Qi immediately contacted Wu Tianyi. Initially, Wu Tianyi was irritated, assuming it was another debt collection call. " You know how to push. It's not time to pay back the money. I know it all day long." He quickly changed his tone upon recognizing Lan Qi's voice, explaining, "I thought it was a harassing call. Now this liar is too rampant. You see, you almost missed it."
Lan Qi said he had tried to visit Wu Tianyi's home but the address had changed, and he obtained the phone number from Wu Tianyi's workplace. Wu Tianyi remarked that constantly living in the same place can be tiresome. Lan Qi inquired about his well-being, to which Wu Tianyi replied, "I am very good, very good. It is rare for you to miss me." Lan Qi offered to treat him to dinner at Minglehui at 7 PM the next day.
Wu Tianyi insisted on paying, but Lan Qi politely declined, stating that he should treat an elder. They both agreed to meet. At a seaside photoshoot, Fang Lu arrived late and found herself excluded by the other groups. When she couldn't find a group, the coach instructed her to stand alone, forming her own group. Moments later, Hou Jue and Wu Shiyi walked over. Hou Jue teased Wu Shiyi, saying, "Who is like your face every day?"
to which Wu Shiyi responded, "This is my job." Overjoyed to see Hou Jue, Fang Lu enthusiastically rushed towards him, tripping in her excitement. She quickly introduced Hou Jue as her "Marquis brother" to the coach and the rest of the crew, who were visibly impressed by his handsome appearance. Hou Jue then spoke on Fang Lu's behalf, portraying her as a naive newcomer to society and asking everyone to be lenient and approach him with any issues.
He then presented Fang Lu with a necklace, claiming it was a birthday gift, despite it not being her birthday. Fang Lu was ecstatic, expressing her gratitude. Shortly after, Hou Jue had to depart for a rescue mission, entrusting Fang Lu's care to the crew. Observing this, some participants envied Fang Lu's good fortune, while others cynically commented that a necklace was not an engagement ring and that future outcomes were uncertain.
To bolster her image, Fang Lu boldly declared that Hou Jue had already proposed to her and that they would take wedding photos after the program. This fabrication successfully earned her a prominent C position for the next segment, with the director even planning a special behind-the-scenes episode to cover her wedding photoshoot, excited by the "topic." Later, Wu Tianyi and Lan Qi shared a meal.
Lan Qi learned that Wu Shiyi was working as a bodyguard and expressed his interest, remarking on how "handsome" such a profession was. Knowing Lan Qi's true intentions, Wu Tianyi gave him Wu Shiyi's phone number. Lan Qi acknowledged that his persistent interest in Wu Shiyi had never escaped Wu Tianyi's notice over the years.
Following this, Lan Qi went to Wu Shiyi's company, first stopping to buy 51 roses, a playful gesture referencing her name, Wu Shiyi, which sounds like "fifty-one." Meanwhile, Hou Jue dictated an email to Wu Shiyi, intending to apologize to Bao Xiaohan for his previous rude behavior during a meeting. The email included valuable internal documents from Hou Jue's college friend, a hotel decorator, hoping it would smooth things over.
Bao Xiaohan's polite response, expressing how Hou Jue’s words had enlightened him, surprised and pleased Hou Jue. Wu Shiyi then criticized Hou Jue, telling him he was "running amok in the company" and acting like a "fox using a tiger's power" by relying on his father Hou Zhirong. Wu Shiyi remarked that it was good Hou Jue was realizing his mistakes. Wu Shiyi then received a call from Lan Qi and went out to meet him.
She informed Hou Jue that a friend was visiting before stepping out. Lan Qi greeted her warmly, commenting that she hadn't changed in ten years, and presented her with the large bouquet of roses. Wu Shiyi inquired how he found her, and he explained he had met her father for dinner and gotten her number. Lan Qi hinted that Wu Tianyi had informed him about her past struggles and expressed hope that his return wasn't "too late."
He invited her to dinner, but Wu Shiyi explained that her 24-hour protection contract meant she had no personal time. Lan Qi, having anticipated this, jokingly suggested she work for him after her contract ended in two months. Just then, Hou Jue, observing their cheerful conversation, conspicuously announced he was going out. Wu Shiyi introduced Lan Qi as her old friend and Hou Jue as her client.
Lan Qi, perceiving he was interrupting, quickly took his leave, promising to call Wu Shiyi again. As soon as Lan Qi departed, Hou Jue returned to his office. Hou Jue then confronted Wu Shiyi, calling Lan Qi her "old flame" and urging her to "stay away from such people," whom he declared "dangerous" and "treacherous or deceitful," claiming he was only acting "for her own good."
He asked if Lan Qi intended to propose, and upon learning it was a possibility, Hou Jue reminded Wu Shiyi of her 24/7 work obligation, implying she couldn't get married. Wu Shiyi, finding his concern overwhelming, abruptly ended the conversation. Later, Wu Shiyi brought the massive bouquet of roses home. Sister Zhang helped her arrange them, asking about Lan Qi's profession.
Wu Shiyi explained that Lan Qi was a hotel manager, currently overseeing several resort hotels, and was in his early thirties. Sister Zhang approved, remarking on his suitable age and career. Hou Jue, hearing this, interrupted, counting the 51 roses and scoffing at the "old-fashioned" gesture. " This is a total 51. If you call Wu 11, you can send 51 flowers. What should I do if I call it 250?"
He then declared that such "trivialities" only "fool women," and told Wu Shiyi that women are often "cheated by such small things." Sister Zhang defended the gesture, saying sometimes "old-fashioned talent works," and told Wu Shiyi not to mind Hou Jue, calling him an immature child engrossed in his phone.
Mary informed Fang Lu that the director was indeed planning a spin-off to film her wedding preparations with Hou Jue, and also presented a lucrative brand endorsement offer from Chairman Hao of the "Dream Come True Company," potentially worth "millions a year." However, the chairman's offer came with a hidden caveat: he wanted Fang Lu to accompany him to Dubai for a "business investigation."
Fang Lu was deeply conflicted, refusing to go, fearing that Hou Jue would discover the truth and sever all ties with her. Mary, in turn, pressured her, emphasizing the significant financial loss—sixty percent of the million-dollar deal, totaling 600,000—that Fang Lu would incur if she backed out. Mary also threatened to expose Fang Lu's "previous shit" if she didn't comply. Under duress, Fang Lu reluctantly agreed.
Wu Shiyi browsed old university photos sent by Lan Qi, which Hou Jue also saw. He commented on how cheerfully she smiled back then compared to her usual serious demeanor now, wistfully remarking that he would have treated her much better if he had known her during those days. Wu Shiyi retorted that if he had known her when she practiced Sanda in college, she would have "hit him" for being annoying.
Hou Jue rebuked her for advocating violence in a law-abiding society. At the wedding shop for the photoshoot, Fang Lu discreetly sent the photographers away, telling Hou Jue that he only needed to help her choose a wedding dress, omitting the fabricated engagement story. Hou Jue found the situation peculiar, questioning why a "buddy" would pick a wedding dress when it was usually the fiancé's role. He jokingly asked Wu Shiyi, "You and your old lover chose a wedding dress?"
Wu Shiyi was then asked to bring a wedding dress to Fang Lu in the changing room. There, Wu Shiyi overheard Fang Lu on the phone with Mary, reiterating her reluctance to go to Dubai for the "business investigation" and her sincere desire to pursue a genuine relationship with Hou Jue. Fang Lu worried that if Hou Jue found out about Dubai, he might not even remain friends with her.
Wu Shiyi entered, startling Fang Lu, who feared that her bodyguard had overheard their conversation. Meanwhile, Hou Jue had a casual conversation with the cameraman, asking about the show's broadcast schedule. To his shock, the cameraman revealed that Fang Lu had told the entire crew that Hou Jue was her fiancé and that they were soon to be married, which was why the director had specially arranged the current photoshoot. Realizing he had been thoroughly deceived, Hou Jue was enraged.
He immediately left the wedding shop with Wu Shiyi without informing Fang Lu. The director's team soon caught on to Fang Lu's deception, with one crew member confronting her, "They don't know about your marriage. Fang Lu, I'm puzzled. Are you leading a fool on here? People started to cheat before they became popular. You are so bold." As a result, Fang Lu was abruptly removed from the program.
Later, Bao Xiaohan discovered a photo of Fang Lu and Hou Jue at the wedding shop, which the manager had posted on social media. Fang Lu frantically called Mary, blaming Wu Shiyi for overhearing her phone call in the changing room and exposing her lies to Hou Jue.
Mary, however, dismissed Fang Lu's worries, telling her not to "panic" and to "put your heart in your stomach," promising to sort things out the next day before abruptly hanging up, claiming she was busy. A sudden emergency alert was issued: a mountain climber, Shi Aishan, a 36-year-old TV director, had gone missing. Rescue teams were immediately assembled, with Hou Jue and Wu Shiyi joining the search.
Shi Aishan's wife, with her five-year-old child at home, insisted on joining the perilous search herself, prompting the team leader to try and calm her. The team was briefed on the terrain and search sectors, with the public security department assigned to Area A, the armed police to Area B, and their team to assist in Area C. The missing person's last known contact was approximately six hours prior. They were warned about complex weather conditions and to prioritize safety as they embarked on the search.
