Tang Qingfeng rushed to the city tower to save Tang Qingye as she fell. Tang Qingye, confused by his mixed intentions of capture and rescue, expressed her bewilderment and demanded he put her down. Tang Qingfeng complied, promising no one would seize her. However, on their way home, Xiao Ruyi arrived with guards and arrested Tang Qingye, taking her to her mansion. Tang Qingfeng accompanied them.
Xiao Ruyi, asserting her authority as the Right General of Jingwu Wei overseeing Chang'an's security, accused Tang Qingye of wandering suspiciously at night and declared she would be subjected to "60 big boards" before questioning. Tang Qingfeng understood Xiao Ruyi was trying to force his hand, but he firmly refused to beg for mercy. Xiao Zhihe, Xiao Ruyi’s brother, who was kneeling for his involvement in the Nanshan incident, addressed Tang Qingfeng as "brother-in-law," a remark Xiao Ruyi sternly dismissed.
To his surprise, Xiao Ruyi revealed that Tang Qingye was being well-treated and was enjoying braised pork. Still, Tang Qingfeng, ignoring Xiao Zhihe's earlier advice to be less rigid, rushed into Tang Qingye's room and forcibly took her home. Duo Miaomiao was unfortunately left behind by Xiao Ruyi, dismayed to be kept as a pet. After Tang Qingfeng's departure, Li Fu emerged from the shadows to conspire with Xiao Ruyi.
They planned to investigate the Tang family's situation and undermine Li Yi, using Tang Qingye's purported madness as a key to disrupt Li Yi's engagement to Tang Qingyun. On their way home, Tang Qingye was captivated by a wonton stall. Tang Qingfeng bought her a bowl, and she devoured it quickly. He gently blew on the hot food for her, finding solace in her carefree nature. The next morning, Tang Qingyun visited Tang Qingye.
Tang Qingye's disoriented behavior startled Tang Qingyun, causing her to feel guilty for her past suspicions and convincing her that her sister's "madness" meant there could be no romantic involvement with Li Yi. Later, Tang Qingye discovered a jade pendant gifted by Li Yi, feeling no familiarity with it, and suddenly remembered she had left Duo Miaomiao behind. Tang Qingfeng, seeking answers, sketched a portrait of Abu Chacha in her alien form and assigned his subordinate, Dabao, to investigate.
Dabao soon reported that the weapon used by the assassin was acupuncture needles. Tang Qingfeng and Dabao then visited Doctor Fu at the Imperial Hospital to inquire about the needles. While there, Tang Qingfeng noted the distinctive herbal scent of the Imperial Hospital. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhihe delivered an invitation from Xiao Ruyi for Tang Qingfeng and Tang Qingyun to attend the Chrysanthemum Conference at the Xiao mansion. Tang Qingfeng accepted, but firmly rejected Xiao Zhihe's request to include Tang Qingye.
The rumor of Tang Qingye's mental instability spread throughout the city, greatly distressing Li Yi. His master, however, reminded him of his mother's tragic fate and urged him to prioritize his ambition for the Crown Prince's position over personal affections. To confirm his suspicions, Tang Qingfeng set a trap. He deliberately mentioned to Doctor Fu that Tang Qingye took a walk every day after her meal. He then used braised pork to entice Tang Qingye out of the house.
As expected, the assassin appeared and attacked Tang Qingye. Tang Qingfeng intervened, protecting his sister, which allowed the assassin to flee. Tang Qingfeng pursued the assailant to the Imperial Hospital, confronting Doctor Fu with a mask found in his home and the peculiar herbal scent he had recognized as being from the Imperial Hospital and present on the assassin. Faced with undeniable evidence, Doctor Fu confessed and promptly committed suicide by ingesting poison, leaving Tang Qingfeng disappointed.
Back at the Tang mansion, Tang Qingyun found herself sketching the familiar jade pendant she had seen with Tang Qingye. Tang Qingfeng, observing this, downplayed its significance, aiming to prevent any discord between his sisters, and reminded Tang Qingyun about preparing for the Chrysanthemum Conference. At the Chrysanthemum Conference, Li Yi anxiously inquired about Tang Qingye's health, stirring a flicker of jealousy in Tang Qingyun.
Tang Qingfeng discreetly reminded Li Yi of his princely status and skillfully steered the conversation away. Tang Qingye, having completed her radar emitter, attempted to sneak out of the Tang mansion to test it, but was intercepted by a servant. Xiao Ruyi intervened, sending the servant away and then escorting Tang Qingye to the conference, under the pretext of retrieving Duo Miaomiao. Tang Qingye's unexpected arrival created a palpable shift in the atmosphere.
Upon seeing Li Yi, a flood of painful memories overwhelmed her, causing her an inexplicable sorrow, and she fled. Tang Qingfeng quickly followed after her. Xiao Ruyi, keenly observing Li Yi's reaction to Tang Qingye, confirmed their ambiguous relationship before excusing herself. Meanwhile, Tang Qingyun coincidentally spotted the other half of the jade pendant on Li Yi, solidifying her suspicions about his bond with Tang Qingye.
Distraught, Tang Qingyun returned home in tears, recounting to her mother how she felt betrayed regarding her engagement. At the same time, her mother and a maid were discussing plans to send Tang Qingye away from the Tang family home before Tang's father returned, fearing her behavior would cause further scandal, particularly with Tang Qingyun's impending royal marriage. Learning of this plan, Tang Qingfeng resolved to use this opportunity to uncover the truth behind Tang Qingye's mysterious affliction.
Tang Qingfeng comforted a crying Tang Qingye, intending to take her home. Suddenly, Tang Qingye heard a cat's meow and went searching for Duo Miaomiao. She entered a cat enclosure and discovered a naked man surrounded by felines. After a brief conversation, she realized this was indeed Duo Miaomiao, who expressed immense frustration at being transformed into a "Earth ape" (human). Tang Qingye, perhaps mischievously, pretended not to recognize Duo Miaomiao, further confusing Tang Qingfeng about the man's identity.
Xiao Ruyi then appeared, ordered Duo Miaomiao to be tied up and confined, and invited Tang Qingfeng and Tang Qingye to the living room to discuss the matter. Xiao Ruyi fabricated a tale, claiming the naked man, named Erniu, was her wet nurse's mentally impaired son who had suffered greatly during wartime and whom she had taken in out of compassion. Tang Qingfeng was moved by the tragic story of war's impact.
Tang Qingye, however, inwardly marveled at Xiao Ruyi's impressive ability to lie with a straight face. Bound and humiliated, Duo Miaomiao felt deep resentment towards Tang Qingye for her denial and silently vowed that the Cosmos Federation would hold her accountable.
