Long Qing, caught off guard, stumbled but quickly resumed his fierce battle with Ning Que. As Zi Mo and the West Shrine Fallen Calvary surrounded Ning Que, Long Qing seized the opportunity to strike, unleashing a torrent of attacks. Ning Que, employing all his techniques, was gradually overpowered, bleeding from his nose and mouth.

Despite being severely injured, Ning Que struggled to his feet, defiantly stating that his story was his to write and Long Qing would not be the victor. Long Qing scoffed, declaring that today's story belonged to him, and he, as the protagonist, made the rules. Believing victory was assured, he then mockingly asked if Ning Que had any last words. Ning Que declared he would not die so easily.

Recalling Slow Li's promise to rush to his aid if called, Ning Que desperately shouted for his Eldest Brother, but Slow Li did not appear, leaving Ning Que feeling a flicker of disappointment. Realizing his life was in peril, Ning Que pleaded with Long Qing to spare Sangsang. Long Qing refused, stating that no one would underestimate the future High Priest of Light, and he feared she would avenge Ning Que.

He also hinted that Sangsang possessed unique benefits, potentially even greater than Ning Que's, which he desired to absorb. Long Qing then explained his Grey Eyes skill, a technique learned from the almighty book, akin to the Demonic Cult's Gluttony, that could devour a cultivator's mind power, consciousness, and cultivation.

He taunted Ning Que, comparing him to a tenacious cockroach, and reveled in the idea of giving Ning Que hope only to see it turn into despair, mirroring his own past suffering. Long Qing also observed Ning Que's surprising resilience despite his injuries, realizing that Ning Que was possessed. He expressed satisfaction, noting that Ning Que had accumulated many powers from the Academy, the Demonic Cult, Liu Bai, and Yanse Master, all of which Long Qing coveted.

He fantasized about devouring Ning Que and Sangsang's pure Haotian brilliance to reach the peak of the Stage of All-Knowing, or even transcend into immortality. Ning Que retorted that Long Qing was being too greedy. Long Qing activated his Grey Eyes skill to devour Ning Que's cultivation, but Ning Que, in a surprising turn, utilized the attack to break through his own bottleneck.

Their battle resumed, but Ning Que, weakening, was saved by the timely intervention of Sage, who remotely scolded Ning Que for fighting instead of rushing to Mount Wa. Sage, annoyed at having to interrupt his dinner to help, easily knocked down Long Qing and the Fallen Calvary with a pair of chopsticks, telling Ning Que to continue his journey.

Meanwhile, at West Shrine, Hierarch Xiong Chumo, convinced that Ning Que was the Son of Lord of the Deceased based on Wei Guangming's past vision and Ning Que's survival of the Lin family massacre, declared his intent to protect the world in Haotian's name. He ordered Ye Hongyu, the High Priest of Jurisdiction, to descend Peach Mountain and kill Ning Que.

Ye Hongyu refused to act without conclusive proof, stating she would only kill Ning Que if he was definitively proven to be the Son of Lord of the Deceased. Later, the High Priest of Oracle informed Ye Hongyu about Long Qing's attack on Ning Que and Sangsang, and how the West Shrine Knights Ye Hongyu had previously exiled had become Long Qing's Fallen Knights.

He urged Ye Hongyu to protect Sangsang, the Daughter of Light and future High Priest, to Mount Wa, subtly hinting that the Hierarch might soon order her to kill Ning Que. Ye Hongyu agreed, asserting that her loyalty as the High Priest of Jurisdiction was to the Light, not merely the Hierarch's personal agenda. With Sangsang still unconscious, Ning Que found a temporary respite at an inn.

Chen Cun, a priest from Qi Xing Tao Temple, offered to transfer his divine radiance to Sangsang, but Ning Que, aware of Chen Cun's limited cultivation, politely declined and instead asked for wine and water to help warm Sangsang. Back at the Academy, Chen Pipi showcased his new invention, a self-heating hot pot, which Slow Li playfully named "Self-heating Hot Pot" and personally inscribed. Sage enjoyed Chen Pipi's cooking.

Hearing of Ning Que's predicament, Jun Mo expressed concern for Sangsang, fearing she might not reach Mount Wa in time. Sage, however, remained calm, stating that he had already helped Ning Que once and it was now West Shrine's turn to protect their future High Priest of Light. Ye Hongyu soon located Ning Que and Sangsang.

Ning Que immediately urged her to help Sangsang, asking her to use her cultivation to expel some of the debilitating cold from Sangsang's body, enabling her to endure the journey to Mount Wa. Without hesitation, Ye Hongyu transferred her own divine radiance to Sangsang, sacrificing her original cultivation and leaving her visibly weakened. Sangsang soon awoke, expressing profound gratitude to "Sister Tao-Addict" and recalling Ning Que's assertion that Ye Hongyu always threatened to kill him but never truly intended to.

Sangsang pleaded with Ye Hongyu not to harm Ning Que, suggesting that despite their conflicting paths, they were similar and should be friends. Ye Hongyu firmly reiterated that Ning Que was a dangerous enemy to West Shrine and she would kill him if they met on a battlefield. She then instructed Sangsang not to reveal to Ning Que that she had given her divine radiance.

Ning Que, despite Ye Hongyu's earlier declaration of intent to kill him, asked if she had decided to return to West Shrine, reminding her that she had been forced to flee West Shrine after offending High Priest Mo Yu. Ye Hongyu affirmed her decision, asserting her independent will and her right to choose her own destiny.

Ning Que reminded her of a past promise to protect Sangsang if he died, a promise Ye Hongyu clarified by stating that he would not die without her permission. Ning Que, desperate for Sangsang's survival, reiterated his trust in only the Academy, Li Zhongyi, and her, offering his own life if Sangsang recovered. Ye Hongyu, however, dismissed his words, confirming that she was indeed the person who wanted to kill him most.

She promised that neither he nor Sangsang would die "yet", adding that she didn't want him to waste away with worry before she had the chance to kill him herself. Ning Que, determined, pledged to live fiercely until Sangsang was well. Ye Hongyu formally promised that he would remain safe until Sangsang's recovery, though she jokingly threatened to revoke the promise if he continued to tease her about her obsession with killing him.

Ning Que quickly conceded, even offering to present himself to her for execution if Sangsang was cured. When asked when they would depart, Ning Que replied, "Tomorrow morning, if Sangsang's condition is stable." Ning Que expressed his worry about the long and perilous journey ahead, and what might happen if they failed to reach Master Qishan before the Yulan Festival.

Ye Hongyu, with her Jurisdiction Sword in hand, unequivocally promised that they would face no further obstacles on their way to Mount Wa, vowing to kill anyone who dared to stand in their path. As Ye Hongyu departed, Ning Que showered her with exaggerated praise and well wishes. She, in turn, commanded him to proceed quickly, warning that if Sangsang was not cured, Ning Que would face her Jurisdiction Sword.

At Mount Wa, Master Qishan had sensed the approaching deadline for Sangsang's arrival, and as the leaves began to fall from a nearby tree, he grew concerned. Far away, Hierarch Xiong Chumo informed Luo Kedi, the Chief of Jurisdiction Division, of his plan to use the upcoming Yulan Festival on Mount Wa to expose the Son of Lord of the Deceased.

He ordered Sect Tian Qing to bring the ancient Tian Qing magic vessel, the Yulan Bell, which, when rung, would force the Son of Lord of the Deceased to reveal himself to the world, making him a target for all. Great Master Bao Shu of Sect Tian Qing prepared to bring the Yulan Bell to Mount Wa. Along the way, he encountered Qu Ni, who was already convinced that Ning Que was the Son of Lord of the Deceased.

Qu Ni insisted on accompanying Bao Shu to the Yulan Festival to personally witness Ning Que's true form and ensure his demise. Bao Shu reluctantly agreed. After days and nights of relentless travel, Ning Que and Sangsang finally arrived at Mount Wa. Overjoyed, Ning Que shouted loudly for Great Master Qishan. However, Mo Shanshan suddenly appeared on horseback, advising him not to waste his breath. She explained that the Mount Wa Cave was thousands of meters from the foot of the mountain, and Master Qishan would not be able to hear his cries.
