The Story of Pearl Girl
The Story of Pearl Girl is a historical romantic drama directed by Xie Ze, led by Zhou Lusi, Liu Yuning, and Daddi Tang, co-starring Shang Xinyue, Tang Zhenchao, and Xie Keyin.
The drama is adapted from the novel "Kun Shan Yu Zhi Qian Zhuan/昆山玉之前传" by Tan Tianyin, which tells the story of Duan Wu, a young girl who picks pearls, escapes from the pearl farm in order not to be abused and joins a merchant caravan from Yan Zijing and goes to Yangzhou together. With her wisdom and courage, she breaks through the limitations of local jewelery merchants by using her jewelery harness and earns herself a place in the guilds, and eventually becomes a generation of businesswoman.

Sinopsis
In Hepu, a pearl-harvesting slave named Duanwu escapes from the human-devouring pearl field during the Dragon Boat Festival, overcoming countless obstacles. She crosses paths with a Western merchant, Yan Zijin, and the gentle scholar, Zhang Jinran. Joining Yan’s caravan, she pushes forward, reaching closer to the dazzling world of gemstones.
However, on the journey through the northwest, Duanwu uncovers the secrets of her own origins and becomes entangled in Yan Zijin’s mysterious vendetta. Loved ones perish, and her beloved departs. Renaming herself Su Muzhe, she ventures into Yangzhou, determined to seek the truth even if it costs her everything. Yet, with a heart as clear as a mirror, she refuses to let hatred consume her, establishing the “Mirror Platform” and working alongside Zhang Jinran to bring justice to old grievances.
Yan Zijin, who had once resolved to bear all his burdens alone, eventually lets go of his own vengeance, standing beside her against the storm. With everything settled, Su Muzhe achieves new heights at the gem fair, inspiring many other women once bound by fate to pursue lives of renewed purpose.
