On the day of Hua Rong's arranged trial marriage, she was already dressed while Duanmu Bai arrived to escort the bride. As the sedan chair was carried away, assassins suddenly attacked and seized it. Meanwhile, Princess Ling was anxiously waiting in a room, unaware that the "bride" was actually Qian Dayou in disguise. Qian Dayou then rescued her. Duanmu Bai, having orchestrated the kidnapping to save Hua Rong, believed he was rescuing her.

He was prepared to abandon everything and roam the world with her. However, when he opened the sedan chair, he discovered it was not Hua Rong inside, but the captured Prince, who had been involved in Duanmu Qingcang's schemes. Qin Shangcheng had anticipated the Prince's plot, replacing Hua Rong with him. The captured Prince, now exposed, pleaded for mercy from Qin Shangcheng, blaming avarice and coercion by Duanmu Qingcang.

Qin Shangcheng, however, sternly refused, citing the many victims of the Prince's schemes, including the deceased Prince Consort and the people of Tianchu, and especially Hua Rong, who would never forgive him. The captured Prince then handed Duanmu Bai a letter from Hua Rong. In her letter, Hua Rong returned Duanmu Bai's grandmother's bracelet and explained that she understood his intentions but wanted to prevent further misunderstanding.

She revealed her prior marriage to Qin Shangcheng, stating that her heart held no room for anyone else, and advised Duanmu Bai to forget her. After knocking out the guards, Hua Rong, praised by an impressed Princess Ling as "Swordswoman Huahua," rendezvoused with Qin Shangcheng and the others. As they made their way, a group of archers attacked, nearly hitting Princess Ling before Qian Dayou bravely used his backside to shield her.

Despite the continued pursuit by Duanmu Bai's men, they managed to escape to a farmyard near the city gate. With the entire city under strict lockdown, Hua Rong suggested taking an underground route. Zhang Xian confirmed that Xiao Xing and the other girls rescued from Utopia had already been safely sent out of the city via a secret tunnel.

Hua Rong explained their elaborate plan: through their hidden operatives, they had not only discovered the enemy's grain supply route but also identified Wang Song as a mole. They then cleverly leaked false information to Wang Song, causing him to lower his guard, which ultimately allowed them to dismantle Duanmu Qingcang's entire operation.

Princess Ling, upon finding a will left by the deceased Prince Consort Nie Yu, learned that he initially became a spy to win her favor but later embraced his duty to the country, wishing her to find true love. Princess Ling then bid farewell, stating she would return to Tianchu as the head of the Fairy Spy Corps, with Qian Dayou promising to always be there for her.

With their mission accomplished, Qin Shangcheng led Hua Rong to a riverside for a final, special gift to culminate their honeymoon. Hua Rong delightedly pointed out a rainbow, but Qin Shangcheng revealed an even grander surprise. He recalled the rare phenomenon of a mirage, described in "Travel Notes of Yunhe", which creates illusory images of cities, towers, and trees. While rare elsewhere, mirages appeared frequently in South Desolation.

Qin Shangcheng revealed that he had dispatched his men to research the mirage patterns in South Desolation since their arrival. Having meticulously calculated the precise time and location, their images were now being projected as a mirage across the South Desolation sky. Holding Hua Rong's hand, Qin Shangcheng declared this the day to publicly announce their marriage to all of South Desolation, sealing their declaration with a kiss.

Watching from afar, Duanmu Bai witnessed the mirage of Qin Shangcheng and Hua Rong embracing. Recognizing Qin Shangcheng from his earlier appearance in Tianchu and recalling Hua Rong's earlier "rainbow" remark, Duanmu Bai finally understood her strange behavior and the true nature of their relationship. Meanwhile, Duanmu Bai, facing his father, Duanmu Qingcang, accepted responsibility for the defeat in the Tianlu war, attributing it to his own softheartedness and emotional decisions.

When his father prepared to punish him by severing an arm, Lan Tian intervened, offering his life in Duanmu Bai's stead, acknowledging his own negligence in Chu Fengling's rescue. Duanmu Qingcang dismissed Duanmu Bai's "soft heart" as a weakness, but then accepted Duanmu Bai's offer to go to Tianchu as a hostage instead of Lan Tian taking the punishment. Returning to Tianchu City, Hua Rong was overjoyed to reunite with her father, General Hua Mantian.

She presented him with the Eight Treasures Kirin Dagger, which her father recognized as his late wife's cherished possession, stolen by the treacherous Wang Song, a slave trader and traitor to their country. General Hua was delighted to have the dagger back and proud of his daughter, calling her a "swordswoman" and a "great hero."

Though happy for their reunion, General Hua, upholding tradition, insisted that Qin Shangcheng and Hua Rong sleep in separate rooms until a formal wedding ceremony could be held to officially "marry off" his precious daughter. He invited Qin Shangcheng to share his spacious room, much to Qin Shangcheng's dismay.

That night, Qin Shangcheng attempted to sneak out of General Hua's room to see Hua Rong but was immediately caught by the General, who, accustomed to light sleep from years of military service, awoke at the slightest disturbance. The next morning, Qin Shangcheng, with the help of Zhang Xian and Qian Dayou, prepared a loving breakfast for Hua Rong. However, General Hua intercepted it, enjoyed the meal himself, and praised Qin Shangcheng, leaving nothing for Hua Rong.

Frustrated, Qin Shangcheng instructed Zhang Xian and Qian Dayou to constantly monitor General Hua's movements. Later, when Hua Rong accompanied her father to the drill ground, Qin Shangcheng followed, desperate to find a moment alone with her. That night, he used sleeping incense on General Hua, confident it would ensure deep sleep. He then slipped into Hua Rong's room, only to have General Hua suddenly appear, seemingly recovered from the incense.

Hua Rong, quickly pushing Qin Shangcheng to hide, feigned being startled by her father's visit. Qin Shangcheng had to leap out the window to return to his own room. Later, he vented his frustration to Zhang Xian and Qian Dayou, lamenting that dealing with a father-in-law was far more challenging than facing formidable enemies. Determined to spend time with Hua Rong, Qin Shangcheng decided to shadow her and General Hua during their outing. However, his plan was thwarted when he was ambushed by a group of beggars and drugged.
