Huo Yan then led a team to the fifth floor for search and rescue. Luo Jie reported reaching the fourth floor and confirmed no open flames in the hallway, allowing search and rescue teams to proceed. During their efforts, firefighters discovered the fire’s origin at the bottom of the fourth floor. Amidst the chaos, as residents were being evacuated and injured individuals attended to, new dangers emerged.
Falling sparks ignited a nearby perfume workshop, causing the fire to intensify and spread. Doctor Yan Lan, who was evacuating a trapped little girl on the first floor, became engulfed in flames after an explosion occurred just as she handed the child to a firefighter. She was thrown back and lost consciousness.
Deputy Chief Luo, having just descended, learned of Yan Lan's predicament and instinctively tried to rush back into the blaze to save her, but Chief Chen restrained him, reminding him to obey commands. From his position on the fifth floor, Deputy Chief Huo contacted Chief Chen, explaining that the fire was spreading rapidly from the first floor and advised against entry from the ground floor.
He then identified the east window on the fourth floor as the optimal rescue point and instructed the aerial ladder truck to prepare. Yan Lan eventually regained consciousness. She heard a voice through her walkie-talkie, guiding her to move away from the escalating fire on the first floor and ascend the stairs. The calm, reassuring voice was familiar, reminding her of the man who had guided her during the tunnel incident, bringing a sense of security.
Following the instructions to cover her mouth and nose, stay low, and close windows, she made her way upstairs. She encountered a blocked window and a locked bedroom door. The voice on the walkie-talkie urged her to break it open, assuring her of success. After successfully breaking the door and thanking him, the voice, identified as Deputy Chief Huo, asked for her name.
Soon, Deputy Chief Luo, who had taken charge of the aerial ladder, located Yan Lan on the fourth floor and safely brought her down. During the descent, Yan Lan lost consciousness again but was assured that the little girl she saved was safe. She woke up later and thanked Deputy Chief Luo, who then cautioned her against rushing into dangerous situations.
Mistaking Wu, a firefighter who came to assist with a hose, for the man on the walkie-talkie, Yan Lan felt a connection. Her friend, Bai Xiaolin, enthusiastically approached Wu, praising Yan Lan as a kind and beautiful doctor from Southeast Hospital, and insisted that Wu add Yan Lan on WeChat. They exchanged contact information and tentatively agreed to a dinner date.
Meanwhile, Liu Xuan, an ambitious doctor at the hospital, observed Deputy Chief Luo, recognizing him as a frequent visitor and a fire station deputy chief. At the hospital, Professor Ye announced a new joint research project between their hospital and the Dongshan Fire Station to study Fire and Medical Joint Training practices. He chose Yan Lan to assist him, much to Liu Xuan's dismay.
Liu Xuan had previously tried to secure a spot by talking to Professor Li, but Professor Ye ultimately selected Yan Lan for her outstanding abilities. Separately, a representative from Han's Pharmaceuticals pressured Director Li to issue a fraudulent safety report for their monoclonal antibody samples, which had been destroyed in the tunnel accident. Director Li expressed reservations, but the representative casually dismissed his concerns, implying that a new sample would arrive soon.
Later, Liu Xuan approached Deputy Chief Luo as he was leaving the hospital, having visited his sister. She tried to add him on WeChat, offering to provide updates on Yan Lan to pique his interest. Deputy Chief Luo, who had no prior recollection of Liu Xuan, agreed to add her once she mentioned Yan Lan. Back at the fire station, Wu's colleagues excitedly offered him dating advice, some suggesting he be a gentleman and others urging him to act confidently.
Feeling overwhelmed by their unhelpful suggestions, Wu sought Deputy Chief Huo's advice. Deputy Chief Huo, admitting he wasn't an expert either, offered a high-tech solution: he would discreetly coach Wu through an earpiece during the date. On the night of the dinner, Yan Lan received a call from Bai Xiaolin, who unexpectedly canceled, leaving Yan Lan to dine alone with Wu. Yan Lan found Wu's formal demeanor, as he repeated Deputy Chief Huo’s coaching, quite odd.
Unbeknownst to them, Liu Xuan had overheard the dinner plans and brought Deputy Chief Luo to the same restaurant, hoping he would see Yan Lan with another man and give up his pursuit of her. Her scheme, however, did not work as Deputy Chief Luo remained undeterred. Liu Xuan and Deputy Chief Luo joined Yan Lan and Wu at their table.
Liu Xuan made pointed comments implying Yan Lan and Wu were on a date, but both Yan Lan and Wu tried to clarify it was merely a thank-you dinner. Deputy Chief Luo generously offered to pay for everyone and then helped Yan Lan cut her steak. When Liu Xuan tried to get him to cut her steak, he playfully refused, telling her to learn to be independent.
During the meal, Yan Lan sincerely thanked Wu for helping her twice—during the tunnel rescue and the recent fire, praising his calming voice on the walkie-talkie. Wu, still following Deputy Chief Huo's instructions, recited generic lines about a firefighter's duty. Deputy Chief Luo, having spotted Deputy Chief Huo observing them from an upper floor, chuckled at Wu's "hard work." Despite Deputy Chief Luo's attempts to subtly interrupt, Yan Lan pressed Wu for more details about the tunnel rescue.
Finally, Wu confessed that he was not the one who had guided her, but rather Deputy Chief Huo. Yan Lan looked up, stunned, as Deputy Chief Huo, visibly embarrassed, quickly settled the bill and left the restaurant.
