Under the persistent urging of Zhigang, Zhang Xiaoman reluctantly helped push a car out of a muddy pit. However, the incident left him feeling deeply awkward around Yan Xiaodan, especially after Zhigang teased him about Xiaodan being his "little girlfriend" and claimed he hadn't charged the driver a cent only for Xiaoman's sake. To avoid the embarrassment associated with the roadside scam, Xiaoman began avoiding Xiaodan at school.

Meanwhile, Sun Lulu had become completely infatuated with Xiaoman after seeing his performance. She began visiting his classroom frequently, using complex math problems as an excuse to seek help from Meng Ge, though her eyes remained fixed on the door, waiting for Xiaoman to appear. One afternoon, while Xiaoman and Dongdong were playing with a ball in the classroom, the ball went off course and struck Lulu directly in the forehead.

While Dongdong panicked and made a melodramatic scene about not being able to live if something happened to her, Xiaoman simply picked her up and ran toward the infirmary, a scene witnessed by a silent Xiaodan. Lulu was delighted by the attention, and even after being patched up, she remained convinced that Xiaoman was her hero. Dongdong, who harbored his own feelings for Lulu, misinterpreted her reaction as lingering anger.

Seeking a way to apologize with a "sense of ritual," he begged Xiaoman to ghostwrite an apology letter for him. As school let out, Xiaoman intercepted Lulu and handed her the letter. This sparked a double misunderstanding: Lulu assumed the letter expressed Xiaoman’s own feelings, while Xiaodan, watching from a distance, grew resentful, believing Xiaoman was sending Lulu a love letter.

Tensions between Xiaoman and Xiaodan deepened until she learned from her family that Director Hou had limited the pilot recruitment brochures to cadres' children. Recognizing Xiaoman's dream of flying, she secretly tucked a brochure into his desk. However, Lulu found it first. After comparing the handwriting to the unsigned apology letter, Lulu was certain both were from Xiaoman. She handed him the brochure herself, letting him believe she was the one supporting his ambitions.

Confused by the lack of application details, Xiaoman sought advice from Director Hou, who dismissed him by claiming the recruitment process was strictly for those with high motivation and impeccable character. Xia Lei suggested asking Yan Wenyuan for help, but Xiaoman refused to face Xiaodan or her father while they were still in a "cold war." Instead, Xiaoman, Xia Lei, and Dongdong set up a makeshift training camp at a spot they called the Mahavira Hall.

They focused on lung capacity, with Xiaoman holding his breath in a large water bucket for three minutes while his friends joked about "Sima Guang smashing the vat" in case he passed out. Xiaodan watched them from the shadows, eventually softening her stance and drafting a professional training plan. She gave it to Xia Lei, swearing him to secrecy. To further the training, Ding Guoqiang welded professional-grade equipment for Xiaoman to practice anti-vertigo techniques.

After a series of intense spins and a successful "elephant spin" test where he walked a straight line, a dizzy Xiaoman accidentally stumbled into Xiaodan's arms. Feeling confident, he returned to Director Hou to formally apply, only to be met with a cold rejection. Hou revealed that he remembered Xiaoman from the roadside incident and judged his moral character as flawed, accusing him of being a scammer.

Xiaoman’s frustration boiled over until he discovered that both the brochure and the detailed training plan had actually come from Xiaodan. He went to her to express his gratitude and clarify that the letter Lulu received was actually written for Dongdong, finally ending their conflict. Indignant on Xiaoman's behalf, Xia Lei decided to take action against Director Hou’s unfairness and sneaked into the school at night. To his surprise, he found Xiaodan there with the same intent.

Working together in the dark corridors, they used ink and paper to create numerous large-character posters. They detailed Hou’s practice of favoritism and his decision to only register his own nephew for the pilot recruitment. By the time the school day began, they had covered the bulletin boards and walls with posters demanding equal opportunity and "Support for Zhang Xiaoman." Director Hou arrived to find the entire school body staring at the evidence of his misconduct, leaving him stunned and speechless.
