Moon Envoy leads Zhan Zhao deep into a secret chamber, stopping at a massive thousand-pound stone door. Before the door shuts, she bids him to take care, while Zhan Zhao urges her to leave quickly to avoid implicating herself and Hanshui Palace. Zhan Zhao then puts on a puppet mask and successfully blends into the bell-controlled crowd kneeling before Jing Yiming. Disciples of the Yunying Sect bring Jiao Chaogui, the Chief of Shengyun Stronghold, before Jing Yiming.
Jiao Chaogui finally realizes the truth: the bitter feud over the Changhong Jade between the Tang Sect and Shengyun Stronghold was actually orchestrated by He Bo. Jing Yiming, acting as He Bo, has been using the Tang Sect to challenge and ruthlessly eliminate any martial sect leader who refuses to submit, all in his quest to dominate the martial world. Enraged, Jiao Chaogui denounces Jing Yiming for hiding behind a mask and attacks him, but he is quickly overpowered.
Jing Yiming offers Jiao Chaogui a choice: either persuade the other sects to submit, or consume the Yemotian poison to become a mindless puppet controlled by the ring of a bell. He warns that once the poison enters the heart vessels and invades the mind, it triggers vivid hallucinations and makes the victim powerless to resist, even if ordered to self-harm.
Cruelly, the only temporary relief is to consume more of the poison, which slowly rots the mind and leaves the victim witless. Listening from the crowd, Zhan Zhao finally understands the tragic fate of Bai Yutang's sworn brothers and notices his own inner energy behaving strangely. Just as Jiao Chaogui is about to be forced to take the poison, Zhan Zhao intervenes.
Engaging Jing Yiming in a fierce duel, Zhan Zhao uses his unique family martial arts to counter Jing Yiming's stolen techniques, such as the Dragon Roar Swordplay. Zhan Zhao mocks him, pointing out that despite stealing countless masteries, he only knows the forms without understanding their true essence. To turn the tide, Zhi Hua takes Yu Lian hostage and rings the control bell, prompting the mind-controlled crowd to attack.
Unwilling to harm these innocent victims, Zhan Zhao fights his way out and retreats into a display room filled with weapons and treasures, where he spots his father's legendary Zhanlu Sword. Fortunately, Ding Zhaohui arrives just in time to rescue Zhan Zhao. Outside, Huo Linglong waits anxiously, held back by Moon Envoy.
Hearing Zhan Zhao and Ding Zhaohui approaching, Moon Envoy slips into the shadows to avoid being recognized by her elder brother, while Bai Yutang watches from a distance, relieved to see Zhan Zhao safe. Once reunited, the trio pools their clues. They confirm that Jing Yiming, operating as He Bo, has been using Zhongxiao Pavilion to bribe officials for the Prince of Xiangyang and control the martial world—a treasonous conspiracy to overthrow the court.
Ding Zhaohui shares his observations from the Jing estate. He explains that he had smelled medicine near a heavily guarded courtyard and sneaked in, finding the imprisoned and wounded Yu Lian. She had begged Mrs. Jing for poison to kill Jing Yiming and avenge her brother. Mrs. Jing stopped her, advising her to wait for the right moment. However, Jing Yiming overheard them.
Mocking their plotting, he boasted that ten years ago, he instructed Su Yizhou to instigate the deadly feud between Bawang Manor and the Linyuan Sect, resulting in the slaughter of the entire manor, yet he faced no retribution. Zhan Zhao and Huo Linglong agree that while Yu Lian is a crucial witness, Mrs. Jing likely knows even more. Persuading Mrs. Jing to testify would be a major breakthrough.
Zhan Zhao also mentions seeing the Zhanlu Sword, confirming Jing Yiming murdered Ding's father. Determined to uncover more evidence, Ding Zhaohui decides to return to the Jing estate. Since Huo Linglong is childhood friends with the honorable Tang Sect young master, Tang Tianhao, Zhan Zhao asks her to seek his help in formulating an antidote for the Yemotian poison. Huo Linglong agrees, realizing Bai Yutang's erratic behavior is a desperate attempt to save his brothers.
However, she worries Bai Yutang might try to assassinate the Yicheng magistrate. Zhan Zhao jokingly suggests they buy a fish to shut his mouth, noting that while he, the cat, dislikes fish, that "white rat" cannot live without it. Meanwhile, Zhi Hua advises Jing Yiming to eliminate Zhan Zhao before the upcoming birthday banquet. Jing Yiming agrees and plans to publicly execute Ding Zhaohui at the banquet to intimidate the other sects.
In the meantime, Zhan Zhao privately meets with Moon Envoy, hoping she can introduce him to Granny Hanshui so they can enlist the help of Hanshui Palace to rescue Yu Lian and the other women held at Zhongxiao Pavilion. Moon Envoy, however, warns that Granny Hanshui will not risk her palace, especially with Zhi Hua targeting Zhan Zhao and Zhongxiao Pavilion being heavily guarded.
Huo Linglong finds Tang Tianhao at the Tang Sect's base, carefully stepping around his precious poisonous plants. After Tang Tianhao complains about her ignoring him since running away from her wedding, she manages to convince him to develop an antidote for the Yemotian poison within three days, urging him to stand up to his uncle.
Upon returning, Ding Zhaohui meets with Zhan Zhao and warns him that the Jing family has halted all banquet preparations to focus entirely on hunting him down. On his way back, Zhan Zhao notices he is being monitored, and the Yemotian poison inside him suddenly flares up, forcing him to meditate to suppress it.
Soon after Huo Linglong joins him, Bai Yutang arrives on horseback, furiously demanding they hand over the Yicheng magistrate, while they try to stop him from being manipulated by Zhi Hua.
