Ever since learning about Lin Sufen's illness, Ye Xiaomei has matured significantly overnight. She took on all household chores, meticulously organized Lin Sufen's life, and prepared various nutritious meals, even if they didn't taste good, which greatly comforted Lin Sufen. Guo Sanshuang encouraged his grandfather, Guo Jiangdong, to prepare his best dishes to please Lin Sufen. Guo Jiangdong, having lost his sense of taste, was worried he wouldn't do well, but Guo Sanshuang cheered him on.

Guo Jiangdong meticulously prepared a dish but lacked the courage to give it to Lin Sufen. Guo Sanshuang handed him a glass of wine to embolden him, which Guo Jiangdong drank in one gulp. A group of people burst into the nursing home, demanding answers from Guo Sanshuang. They were family members of Old Mrs. Xu, looking for a gold pendant. Guo Sanshuang then realized that Grandma Gui had stolen Old Mrs. Xu's gold pendant and given it to him.

Wu Hui arrived to mediate, and Guo Sanshuang admitted that he had pawned the gold pendant to pay off a debt. Wu Hui was unsure how to proceed and called Lin Sufen, who was at the hospital receiving treatment with Ye Xiaomei. Ye Xiaomei secretly called Wu Hui back, promising to handle the matter quickly and asking Guo Sanshuang to wait for her at the nursing home entrance.

Ye Xiaomei then took Guo Sanshuang to a loan company to see the boss, Sun Er Niang. Guo Sanshuang, seeking commission to pay off his debt, introduced Ye Xiaomei as a client who needed a large loan. Ye Xiaomei then explained her grandmother was ill and required a significant sum for treatment in Beijing. She proposed mortgaging her old house for 750,000 yuan and presented a property certificate.

Sun Er Niang verified the address, 29 Jiefang Road, Jianshe District, Unit 416, which was 65 square meters and south-facing. Despite the location not being worth that much, Sun Er Niang agreed to sign the contract immediately, after Ye Xiaomei pressed for urgency. Seizing the opportunity, Ye Xiaomei asked to buy back the gold pendant, claiming it was a family heirloom. Sun Er Niang initially balked, stating its price had increased from the 3,600 yuan she paid.

Ye Xiaomei insisted, appealing to their "friendship." Sun Er Niang reluctantly agreed to sell it. Ye Xiaomei then claimed she hadn't brought her ID card and promised to send it the next day, asking for the cost of the gold pendant to be deducted from her loan. Sun Er Niang, believing the property certificate was real, kept it and let them leave with the gold pendant. After successfully retrieving the gold pendant, Ye Xiaomei and Guo Sanshuang were ecstatic.

Ye Xiaomei revealed that the property certificate was a prop borrowed from her friend's advertising agency, and the detailed address was her ex-boyfriend's. They returned to the nursing home and gave the gold pendant back to Old Mrs. Xu's family. To Ye Xiaomei's dismay, Lin Sufen arrived from the hospital to oversee the situation. Ye Xiaomei angrily rebuked Lin Sufen for leaving the hospital against doctor's orders.

Lin Sufen, asserting her authority as the dean, insisted they return to the hospital so the doctor could thoroughly explain her condition to Ye Xiaomei. The doctor showed Lin Sufen's Liver Function Test results, explaining that GPT and TBIL levels were rising, indicating hepatic failure. He confirmed that intervention surgery was not an option and only intravenous glutathione for liver protection could be administered for a few days to see if the indices improved.

When Ye Xiaomei asked about targeted drugs, the doctor explained they also damage the liver and couldn't be used if the liver function was too poor. Ye Xiaomei was devastated. Unwilling to give up, Ye Xiaomei spent the night researching online, looking for renowned doctors for liver cancer. Her searches yielded grim results, with forums suggesting treatment for advanced liver cancer was futile, urging acceptance and pain management. The harsh reality dawned on her: Lin Sufen's condition was irreversible.

The next morning, Ye Xiaomei arrived at the nursing home early. She pulled Shi Changsheng aside during the morning exercises to ask about folk remedies and nutrition bottles. Shi Changsheng, promoting longevity, showed her an out-of-print collection of folk prescriptions, claiming they could cure any disease. He then strongly recommended Guo Sanshuang's nutrition bottles, calling them a "secret recipe" that boosts immunity and prevents cancer.

Meanwhile, Guo Sanshuang met with his company manager, who was upset that Sanshuang had given away four sets of nutrition bottles as "test cases." The manager accused him of trying to scam him and demanded he either sell ten sets or compensate 3,000 yuan for the four lost sets. Just then, Ye Xiaomei called for Guo Sanshuang, quickly buying ten sets of the nutrition bottles, much to Sanshuang's relief and the manager's delight.

The manager praised Guo Sanshuang, suggesting he had found a major client in the nursing home president's granddaughter and would soon make the entire nursing home their clients. Ye Xiaomei took the nutrition bottles home and immediately mixed a cup for Lin Sufen. Lin Sufen, having accepted her fate, urged Ye Xiaomei to give up. Ye Xiaomei refused, insisting the product was effective. Lin Sufen reluctantly took a sip but instantly vomited.

Ye Xiaomei tried to make another cup, but Lin Sufen protested, expressing a desire to dedicate her remaining energy to the nursing home. Ye Xiaomei, now irritated by any mention of the nursing home, watched as Lin Sufen, in defiance, drank the entire cup before secluding herself in her room. Later that night, Lin Sufen woke up in agonizing pain. As she struggled to get a glass of water, she collapsed, overwhelmed by severe abdominal pain.

At the same time, Ye Xiaomei received a message from an online acquaintance named "Blessing." She rushed to meet the woman, who claimed to be a cancer patient herself. The woman showed Ye Xiaomei her test results, with AFP levels dropping from 1400 to a normal 7. 5, attributing her recovery over ten years to an old Chinese doctor's medicine, despite losing her hair from chemotherapy.

Overjoyed, Ye Xiaomei immediately went to the home of the old Chinese doctor, Dr. Ge, at Number 61, Longhu Alley. Dr. Ge initially denied his identity and tried to dismiss her, saying treating patients would shorten his lifespan. Ye Xiaomei tearfully pleaded, explaining her grandmother's terminal cancer and that only he could save her, promising to kneel at his door until he agreed. After a long wait, Dr. Ge finally let her in.

He demanded 99,000 yuan for three months of treatment, excluding herbs, to compensate for his "shortened life span." Ye Xiaomei eagerly agreed and stepped out to make calls to gather the money. Suddenly, a group of people stormed in, accusing Dr. Ge of being a ruthless old fraud who had cheated their families. They claimed he and the "cured woman" were partners, moving from place to place to deceive people.

Ye Xiaomei, distraught, defended Dr. Ge, insisting she had seen the cured woman with her own eyes. The accusers told her she had also been cheated. Ye Xiaomei, in despair, begged Dr. Ge to speak up and confirm he could save her grandmother. Later, Lin Sufen sat with another elderly resident, Xiang Mei, looking at an old photograph.

Lin Sufen lamented that out of all the people in the picture, only she and Xiang Mei remained, and soon only Xiang Mei would be left. She revealed her terminal cancer diagnosis and her plan to disclose it to everyone soon. Lin Sufen expressed contentment with her life, having enjoyed a peaceful era. She asked Xiang Mei to look after Ye Xiaomei after her passing, as Ye Xiaomei would take over the nursing home. The two women embraced.

Meanwhile, Guo Sanshuang's grandfather, Guo Jiangdong, was again preparing a dish, an orange cake, in the kitchen. Guo Sanshuang encouraged him, offering advice on how to impress someone, suggesting that winning Lin Sufen's heart was important. Ye Xiaomei spoke on the phone with "Sister Eva," who offered to feature Ye Xiaomei's comic strip "Mother" on the front page for Mother's Day, due the next night. Ye Xiaomei, sounding tearful, promised to try to finish the ending.

She then experienced a flashback of herself as a young child being left by her mother, feeling scared and alone. Back at the nursing home, Lin Sufen arrived, prompting Ye Xiaomei to express her frustration about her grandmother's disregard for doctor's orders. Lin Sufen maintained that some critical decisions required the dean's presence.

When Ye Xiaomei offered to handle the tasks, Lin Sufen handed her a stack of documents, instructing her to make decisions promptly with Hui's help, and not to call her if she couldn't manage. Ye Xiaomei, still defiant, accepted. Sitting at Lin Sufen's desk, Ye Xiaomei saw a drawing of the "Sunshine House Nursing Home" with a child's message: "Xiao Mei, Mom is back. Give me a hug, Mom. Mom is finally back. I missed her so much!"

Guo Jiangdong approached Ye Xiaomei, asking about Lin Sufen's favorite foods, colors, and hobbies. Ye Xiaomei, stressed and overwhelmed, snapped at him, demanding they talk another day. She then turned her anger on him and Shi Changsheng, accusing them of being selfish and only thinking of themselves, contrasting their behavior with Lin Sufen's lifelong dedication to others. Guo Sanshuang brought food to Grandma Gui, who, enjoying her meal, admitted she had done wrong but commented that Guo Sanshuang was "worse." Later, Lin Sufen privately met with Guo Sanshuang and candidly revealed her cancer diagnosis, expressing her worry for Ye Xiaomei's future once she was gone.
