> Resumos de No Pain No Gain
Pei Qian reviews his latest project, "Deserted Island Sharpshooter", secretly hoping its mediocrity will finally lead to a financial loss. When Huang Sibo suggests hiring gaming influencers for marketing, Pei Qian insists on using Teacher Qiao. He frames it as an act of gratitude because Teacher Qiao’s previous videos—both the criticism of "The Lonely Desert Road" and the praise for "God-Level General"—brought in significant traffic.
Pei Qian tells Sibo to spend the rest of the ample budget on influencers in unrelated fields, such as beauty and food bloggers, to ensure the marketing is as disjointed as possible. Sibo meets with Teacher Qiao, who is initially insulted by the humiliatingly sycophantic script Pei Qian provided. However, seeing the staggering payment offered, Teacher Qiao quickly agrees to the deal, claiming he can memorize the script in ten minutes.
On the day of the launch, "Deserted Island Sharpshooter" goes head-to-head with "Bullet Mark", a blockbuster from Sky Fire Studio. Thanks to Pei Qian’s cringeworthy script—which has Teacher Qiao praising the game’s loading screen as being worth three thousand yuan—the streamer is ridiculed by his audience. Meanwhile, a critical bug appears: the game lags uncontrollably whenever a player attempts to fire.
Sibo is devastated and takes full responsibility, unaware that Pei Qian secretly ordered the bug's insertion into the game's most vital mechanic to guarantee its failure. In the office, the staff hears strange noises from Pei Qian’s room and assumes he is crying in despair. In reality, Pei Qian is overjoyed. He treats the dejected team to a lavish meal and insists that everyone receives their full bonuses and takes the afternoon off.
The staff is deeply moved, interpreting his behavior as a heroic effort to hide his own heartbreak. Determined to save the project, Sibo, Bao Xu, and Lin Wan decide to fix the game in secret. Since Pei Qian forbids overtime at the office, Lin Wan invites them to her surprisingly luxurious mansion to work.
Inspired by Bao Xu playing "Tile-matching" to relieve stress, Sibo hits upon a radical idea: instead of just fixing the lag, they will turn it into a unique battle mechanism. They hire an outsourcing team to implement a mini-game system. Now, whenever the game lags during a shootout, players must compete in a round of "Tile-matching", "Match-3", "Snake", or "Gomoku" to determine the winner of the duel.
While Pei Qian dreams of losing enough money to finally buy a luxury apartment, he wakes up to find the game’s reputation has completely reversed. The bizarre addition has become a viral sensation, and Teacher Qiao’s nonsensical commentary has trended in the "Guichu" video section. Frustrated by his unintentional success, Pei Qian meets with Sima and threatens to terminate their contract. Sima suggests that if gaming comes too easily to him, he should try a different industry.
This gives Pei Qian a new idea: he will pivot to a physical business to incur even larger losses. He tasks his loyal friend, Ma Yang, with opening a high-end internet cafe as a first step toward "corporatization." Pei Qian chooses a massive, remote warehouse near the university city specifically because it is hard to find. He hires Zhang Yuan to manage the place, discovering the man is a jack-of-all-trades who can assemble computers, sing, and bartend.
Pei Qian happily pays him three salaries to handle all roles, further inflating expenses. He names the venture "Fish-Catching (Mo Yu) Internet Cafe" and outlines a "C in the morning, A at night" model, serving expensive coffee and cocktails alongside high-end meals priced 30% above market rate. The success of Tengda begins to worry its competitors. Zhou Muyan of Sky Fire complains to Li Shi, the son of the Fu Hui Group’s chairman, that Pei Qian is stealing their users.
Li Shi decides to investigate the new Fish-Catching Internet Cafe. On opening day, Pei Qian ensures failure by forbidding any discounts or flyers, claiming that a high-end brand should rely on customers discovering it "by surprise." The cafe remains empty as the staff stands awkwardly at the door. When a rare potential customer finally walks in and hears that the price is a staggering 20 yuan per hour for a standard seat, he immediately leaves in disbelief. Li Shi watches from afar, convinced the entire project is a ridiculous blunder.
