Ye Hai, however, brought up Dong Zilong’s recent act of sabotaging the lab equipment and blaming him for it. Despite this, Ye Hai suspected Dong Zilong knew Liu Lan’s secrets and decided to stay in contact with him, viewing him as a potentially useful source of information. An Fei told Mo Liang about her encounter with Dong Zilong, whom she remembered as a supposed reporter who gave her a business card and then fled.
Mo Liang dismissed it, saying their famous Poseidon experiment naturally attracted such people. He then tried to shift the conversation to lunch, but An Fei deflected by talking about a meteor shower and romance novels. Mo Liang noted that An Fei was becoming more and more like him. Just then, Ye Hai arrived. Mistaking Ye Hai for the one who damaged the lab equipment, Mo Liang confronted him.
Ye Hai denied it, and An Fei backed him up, but the situation escalated into an argument. Ye Hai drove An Fei to the Poseidon experiment’s launch ceremony. He playfully woke her up by phone, then surprised her by waiting outside her building despite earlier teasing her about not giving her a ride.
On the way, An Fei attempted to grab some data from Ye Hai’s car, distracting him and causing them to crash. Ye Hai sustained minor injuries, but his immediate concern was An Fei, who had lost consciousness. After ensuring she was not in critical danger, he instructed Duan Xiche to care for her at Shili Hospital and rushed to the ceremony.
At the launch, Mo Liang confidently announced that the Poseidon experiment would commence its first test at Blue Port, assuring everyone that previous equipment issues had not hindered progress. However, the ceremony was thrown into chaos as part of a scheme orchestrated by Dong Zilong. He leaked two audio recordings and incited reporters to relentlessly question Mo Liang and Liu Lan about marine pollution.
The first recording was of Liu Lan instructing her staff to quickly dispose of fish from the polluted test site. The second was of Ye Hai expressing his disagreement with the experiment. The media immediately pressed Mo Liang about the use of high-frequency sonar and confronted Ye Tian about Ye Hai's public protest.
Realizing the project's safety plan had serious issues and that he was being targeted, Mo Liang took full responsibility and announced the temporary suspension of the Poseidon experiment, promising a clear explanation. She observed his stress and presented him with a stone, explaining it symbolized unwavering constancy and her hope that he would always stick to his dreams.
Mo Liang recognized it as a keepsake from her diary, and An Fei reaffirmed her commitment to her own projects to reveal the true nature of the experiment. Returning home, An Fei found Ye Hai waiting outside. She angrily accused him of withholding equipment and stopping the Poseidon experiment. Ye Hai clarified that he had been used by someone to target Mo Liang.
An Fei stated that while she disagreed with high-frequency sonar, she did not reject the entire experiment, emphasizing its value and her reliance on professional information from Dr. C to rebuild the project. Ye Hai, noticing her distress, expressed concern for her health and reminded her she should be in the hospital. Meanwhile, An Fei also sought a shared apartment near the lab. Her friend Ming, chatting with her, received a text from Duan Xiche, who was also looking for a room. Unaware that Duan Xiche was Ye Hai's assistant, Ming excitedly informed An Fei about an available room, and she quickly rented it. Duan Xiche then called Ye Hai, who, after initially refusing a shared room, immediately agreed upon learning the other roommate was "beautiful."
An Fei moved into the shared house, admiring its charming landlady and her cat. She was directed to her room on the upper floor and inquired about the other room. The landlady cheerfully informed her that a "handsome guy" lived next door, adding that she specifically "took care of her eyes" since research work could be boring. To An Fei's astonishment, that "handsome guy" turned out to be Ye Hai.
