Xing Wu was not a greedy person who would do anything for money. When Meng Ruihang offered him money to help act as a lobbyist, it made Xing Wu very unhappy. In the evening, he called his friends to hang out and chat, but everyone made excuses about working the next day and slipped away. At four in the morning, Meng Ruihang was woken up by the noisy crowing of roosters.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Xing Wu's friends. They reminded him that staying here was not free and made him work with them during the day to help carry seafood, saying that the island did not support idle people. Seeing Meng Ruihang urging Qing Ye to go abroad, Li Lanfang also felt uneasy. She spoke with Qing Ye in private, saying that a woman must have sharp eyes, especially when judging men, and must be cautious.
Qing Ye, however, was open-minded. Although she had not received Meng Ruihang's help when she returned to Beijing last time, that was because of Meng Ruihang's mother and had nothing to do with Meng Ruihang himself. Besides, he still remembered to take her to study abroad when she was in trouble. Seeing that young people had their own ideas, Li Lanfang was left somewhat speechless. During a break from unloading cargo at the pier, Xing Wu and Meng Ruihang chatted.
In Meng Ruihang's eyes, Zhazhating was messy and poor, and could not compare to Beijing at all. Xing Wu explained that Qing Ye had already adapted and had the ability to change her environment. Meng Ruihang, however, insisted that taking Qing Ye to study abroad was to fulfill her dream. He even brought up the eighteenth birthday they celebrated together, during which Qing Ye's wish was to study abroad and see the world.
Xing Wu felt a bit sad; if this really was Qing Ye's dream, helping her fulfill it might not be a bad thing. By the seaside, Qing Ye sat alone, lost in thought. Xing Wu walked over and encouraged her to consider Meng Ruihang's suggestion to study abroad. Qing Ye was a bit surprised.
She had thought Xing Wu would try his best to persuade her to stay, but she did not expect him to act as a lobbyist for Meng Ruihang instead. Xing Wu compared Qing Ye to a migratory bird; when the weather changed, the migratory bird would return to its original home, which was an unchangeable fact.
As Xing Wu said this, Qing Ye felt a bit sad, but she still smiled and reminded him that as long as she was in Zhazhating, he had to protect her. She also hoped that if she left one day, Xing Wu would definitely come to see her off. Xing Wu nodded readily in response, saying that of course, he would always keep his word.
He Leling called Qing Ye and told her that Meng Ruihang had actually fallen out with his parents for her sake. Knowing the gravity of the situation, Qing Ye immediately helped pack Meng Ruihang's clothes and luggage, sending him to the station that very day. When Xing Wu returned home and saw that Qing Ye was gone, he thought she had returned to Beijing with Meng Ruihang. Remembering his promise to see her off, he immediately ran to the station.
Meng Ruihang had just boarded the bus to Beijing. Before leaving, he told Qing Ye to remember to call him right away if she faced any difficulties in the future. Qing Ye nodded with a smile. Just after seeing Meng Ruihang off, Qing Ye saw Xing Wu arrive out of breath. Their eyes met, and they smiled at each other.
Qing Ye explained that she had packed a lot of clothes to sell off, hoping to at least get a comfortable mattress to make Xing Wu feel more relaxed and comfortable when he rested. The two picked out a mattress and rode back together. Looking into Qing Ye's eyes, Xing Wu asked her if she regretted not going back to Beijing.
Qing Ye smiled and said that she had already adapted to life in Zhazhating, and in the future, she wanted to repeat her studies here, get into a domestic university, and live a good life. Before long, Qing Ye had completed her school transfer procedures in Zhazhating. Xing Wu rode his bike to take Qing Ye to school himself. While Qing Ye was processing her transfer, Xing Wu also ran into his homeroom teacher under the teaching building.
