Senior Mu visited Chonghua Palace, where Luo Yinfan had secluded himself. He and Qin Ke discussed Chong Zi's situation, with Qin Ke mentioning Yu Xuzi's report of Chong Zi attacking someone while with Wan Jie. Senior Mu dismissed Yu Xuzi as a villain, believing there was a misunderstanding and that Chong Zi wouldn't act without reason. Luo Yinfan then appeared, curtly stating his disciple didn't need external judgment and asked them to leave.

Qin Ke pressed him, questioning if he would unconditionally believe Chong Zi as her master. Luo Yinfan retorted that it was none of their business, but Senior Mu observed that he clearly still held Chong Zi in his heart despite his words. Luo Yinfan, reflecting in solitude, thought of Chong Zi. He felt she had taken advantage of his affection, doing as she pleased, and hoped she would learn from suffering.

He then looked at a handwritten note from Chong Zi detailing an improved recipe for Jade Wheel Cakes, which brought back a memory of her enthusiastically offering him poorly made cakes, a moment of their shared past. Meanwhile, in the Land of Tribulations, Gong Keran, dressed in a red wedding gown, came to Chu Bufu.

She declared that whether immortal or demon, if one loves someone, they should meet and stay together without being constrained by rules, as those rules are the true inner demons. Chu Bufu was deeply moved, expressing his lifelong wish to see her smile and pledging his unwavering commitment to her, regardless of life, death, happiness, or misfortune. With Chong Zi as a witness, Chu Bufu and Gong Keran exchanged vows, tying their hair together as a married couple.

Gong Keran was a radiant bride, and even the formidable Demon Lord seemed to revert to his gentler past self. Witnessing their profound love, Chong Zi felt a deep sense of longing. Yunji arrived at Chonghua Palace, apologizing for her unannounced visit. Luo Yinfan assumed she was there to persuade him regarding Chong Zi, but Yunji clarified she was merely delivering the vine flute as promised.

She then urged Luo Yinfan, as Chong Zi's master, to remember their deep understanding of each other. She warned that if he, too, doubted Chong Zi like others, he would truly push her into the abyss of disaster, emphasizing that it was not too late to salvage the situation. Moved by her words, Luo Yinfan departed alone for the Land of Tribulations.

When questioned by Qin Ke and Yu Du, he revealed that the Councilor (Min Yunzhong) had deliberately withheld information and ordered disciples to deceive him, forcing him to act independently. He sarcastically asked if they wanted him to execute Chong Zi on the spot, then assured them he had a plan to break through the barrier. Inside the Land of Tribulations, Gong Keran playfully blindfolded Chu Bufu, reminding him of a childhood game and asking him to find her.

As he searched, she confessed her love for him, saying it was deeper than she had ever imagined, and that their time together had been the happiest of her life. She believed their shared destiny in this life was ending due to their past wrongs, but promised to be his wife in the next life, asking him not to forget her. When Chu Bufu removed his blindfold, Gong Keran had vanished, leaving him in heartbroken despair.

Chong Zi witnessed the tragic farewell, her heart aching. The surrounding landscape, once transformed, now reverted to a desolate state. Chu Bufu played his zither through the night, and by morning, his hair had turned completely white from grief, appearing aged and haggard. Chu Bufu buried Gong Keran, knowing his own time was short. He then revealed the truth to Chong Zi, acknowledging his past state of mind.

He recounted how his master had once ordered him to lead three thousand Changsheng Palace disciples to Kunlun to escort the demon sword to Nanhua for purification. However, an incident occurred one night in Chenzhou, resulting in the death of his master and fellow disciples at the hands of the demon sword. Chong Zi was furious, condemning those who manipulated Chu Bufu's desire to save people, causing him to become a demon.

She then pressed him to reveal the demon sword's true host. Chu Bufu confessed that Chong Zi herself was the host. He explained that upon their first meeting, he detected the evil breath within her. Out of pity for her bruised and bullied state, he cast a small spell to hide her evil breath, preventing Tian Zhixie from finding her. This act inadvertently led her to become Luo Yinfan's disciple.

Chong Zi was overcome with remorse, believing her own evil breath had harmed him. Chu Bufu reassured her that he had never regretted helping her, emphasizing that the Ni Lun's Sword would cause endless trouble if not purified. He admitted his own failure in cultivation led him to make wrong choices. He further explained that the immortal world blamed him for the deaths and chaos caused by the demon sword, eventually causing him to lose his mind and act recklessly.

He implored Chong Zi not to repeat his mistakes, revealing that the Ni Lun's Sword had forced him to swear an oath: if he disclosed the truth of the sword sacrifice, he would die. He urged her to take the sword back, atone for her sins, and stay close to her master, warning her against the sword's temptations until it was purified.

Despite Chong Zi's desperate pleas for him to stay, Chu Bufu insisted that the demon sword, though sought by many, was merely a "piece of rotten iron" as its demon qi resided in him, and told her that she wouldn't wish for such a life. He made her promise never to become a demon, telling her, "if you live, I live." He accepted his errors, declaring that from then on, there would be no Chu Bufu, and no Wan Jie.

With his final words, Chu Bufu collapsed, leaving Chong Zi heartbroken. Suddenly, a deafening sound echoed as the barrier around the Land of Tribulations dissolved. A familiar white figure, Luo Yinfan, emerged. Chong Zi, a mix of overwhelming grief and relief, rushed into her Master's arms, weeping uncontrollably. Luo Yinfan comforted her, assuring her that Chu Bufu's choice was his own and not her fault, and that many things had been predetermined since he took that fateful step.

He then showed her a wisp of Chu Bufu's primordial spirit entering the demon sword. Luo Yinfan explained that Chu Bufu had sacrificed himself, and his primordial spirit remained within the sword. He promised to find a way to separate the primordial spirit from the demon sword, offering Chu Bufu a chance at rebirth. Luo Yinfan returned to Nanhua with Chong Zi and the Ni Lun's Sword.

The entire Nanhua sect celebrated, choosing to overlook Chong Zi's past transgressions, including the incident with the Tianmo Token. Min Yunzhong and Yu Du collaborated with Luo Yinfan to purify the demon sword, finally fulfilling their master's last wish and bringing the sword back to Nanhua. While commemorating his senior, Luo Yinfan privately knew that the complete purification of the demon sword would also mean Chu Bufu's final disappearance from the world.

He raised his wine cup in a silent toast to his old friend, choosing to conceal this painful secret from Chong Zi. Through a past conversation with Chu Bufu before his transformation, where Chu Bufu urged him to care for Chong Zi and mentioned that "she doesn't treat you just as her master," Luo Yinfan unexpectedly realized the depth of Chong Zi's feelings for him, which complicated his emotions.

Chong Zi, perceiving Luo Yinfan's subsequent coldness, mistakenly believed he was still angry with her. Her attempts to bake cakes for him failed, so she offered him fresh fruit instead. Luo Yinfan, without appetite for the fruit, was nonetheless drawn to her imperfectly made cakes, tasting a few bites in secret. Chong Zi confided in a small clay figure, lamenting that the more she cared for her master, the more inept she became. She expressed that despite eagerly anticipating their reunion, his current coldness made life even more difficult than her time in the Land of Tribulations.
