Xu Chengyi and Xia Yan rushed back to the company after receiving an urgent call about Confidante Planet. Ling Wei informed them that the platform had been hacked, and users' information, including accounts and photos, was posted online starting at 6 p. m. two hours prior. Despite efforts to delete the posts, the information was spreading exponentially and going viral, with some even selling user accounts and photos. Ling Wei had already reported it to the internet police.

Xu Chengyi instructed everyone to cooperate with the police to minimize the damage and fix the security breach. He assigned two technicians to examine the "Show Me" database to ensure its integrity, emphasizing that it must not go wrong. When asked about the attack's origin, they reported the hackers used a proxy abroad but were likely domestic, possibly from Xinzhou.

As they were shorthanded, Xu Chengyi decided to personally work on locating the hackers, while Ling Wei assisted the IT department, and Xia Yan handled PR and media. Xia Yan was tasked with drafting an announcement to apologize to Confidante Planet users and reassure Show Me users that their databases were separate and secure, as most Show Me accounts were bound to credit cards. She also suggested holding a press conference as soon as possible.

Shortly after, the Chairman arrived, visibly angered by the crisis. He chastised Xu Chengyi, pointing to the plummeting stock index of SG Technology and the significant damage already incurred. Xu Chengyi promised to resolve the issue within seventy-two hours, but the Chairman remained skeptical about his ability to do so. Ling Wei intervened, suggesting they discuss the matter in a private office to allow the team to focus on their tasks.

Separately, Yan Chang Jun discussed the hacking incident with an employee, anticipating that SG would quickly patch the security loophole. However, he noted that the more significant challenge for SG would be ensuring customer information security. He observed that while SG was in crisis, their partner, New Key (NK) Technology, remained unaffected.

This led him to deduce that the mastermind behind the attack was intentionally avoiding NK, which could make NK a prime suspect, or even result in the blame being shifted onto them. Yan Chang Jun deemed this a vicious and challenging maneuver. Meanwhile, Xia Yan expressed her frustration about the relentless rumors and lies spreading online, with posts cursing Confidante Planet appearing non-stop since last night. She suspected it was a deliberate, organized attack by paid trolls.

Ling Wei brought up the possibility of Yan Chang Jun's involvement to Xu Chengyi, recalling his college expertise in internet security and natural hacking abilities, which made him adept at finding security breaches. However, Xia Yan argued that the method of using paid trolls didn't seem like Yan Chang Jun's style, suggesting it was a general organized attack.

Xu Chengyi agreed that it appeared to be an organized attack and that they would only know the truth by finding the actual hackers and trolls. As Xu Chengyi and Ling Wei were preparing to leave for a board meeting before the press conference, Xia Yan received a call from Yan Chang Jun. He asked her to meet him downstairs, stating that SG must be in disarray.

Downstairs, Xia Yan asked Yan Chang Jun if he was involved in the hacking incident, given his past. He countered by asking if Xu Chengyi suspected him and pointed out that a hacker is also skilled at anti-hacking. Yan Chang Jun offered his help as a friend, but quickly clarified that his assistance would not be free. Xia Yan declined his offer, citing potential negative impacts on New Key due to their cooperation with Confidante Planet.

Yan Chang Jun dismissed her concern, then subtly began to undermine Ling Wei, claiming Ling Wei's talk of a boyfriend was a facade and that no one had ever met him. He suggested Ling Wei was manipulating Xia Yan, who had let her guard down, with the ultimate goal of pursuing Xu Chengyi.

Xia Yan refused to believe him, demanding proof, but Yan Chang Jun simply told her to consider his words and call him when she was ready to cooperate. Xia Yan reiterated her suspicion about his involvement in the attack, but he did not directly answer. On their way to the press conference, Xu Chengyi, Xia Yan, and Ling Wei were ambushed by a mob of reporters.

As Xia Yan and Ling Wei tried to clear a path, a reporter deliberately flashed a blinding light into Xu Chengyi's eyes. In a protective instinct, Ling Wei pushed the reporter, who then retaliated by kicking her violently, causing her to fall. Xu Chengyi immediately carried Ling Wei away to the hospital, while the reporters loudly accused SG Technology of assault. Xu Chengyi instructed Xia Yan to stay behind and placate the media, telling her the conference was postponed.

At the hospital, Ling Wei apologized to Xu Chengyi, explaining that her action was a pure instinct to protect him. Xia Yan arrived shortly after, reassuring Xu Chengyi that Ling Wei had only sustained a bump. However, Xu Chengyi expressed deep concern for Ling Wei, recalling how she had previously injured her lower back, almost leading to paralysis, while carrying him after his own accident years ago.

He described Ling Wei's difficult upbringing, how she came from a poor mountain family, supported herself through scholarships and part-time jobs, and worked tirelessly in the computer room, where she initially hurt her waist. Xia Yan was touched, acknowledging Ling Wei's significant sacrifices for Xu Chengyi. Later, Xia Yan received a text message from Yan Chang Jun with an address for the trolls.

She tried calling him back but got no answer, so she quickly sent a message to Xu Chengyi and left for the location. Moments later, an employee in the office also discovered the trolls' address and sent it to Xu Chengyi, who noticed it matched the address Xia Yan had texted him. Realizing Xia Yan had gone alone, Xu Chengyi immediately called the police and rushed out to find her.

Xia Yan reached the address and began taking photos of the premises. The people inside confronted her, demanding her phone. Xu Chengyi arrived just as they were about to grab Xia Yan, and he quickly pulled her away to flee. However, they were chased, caught, and severely beaten. Xu Chengyi bravely shielded Xia Yan from the blows until the police arrived and arrested the suspects. Xia Yan took a bleeding Xu Chengyi to the hospital, deeply distressed by his injuries.

Despite his wounds, Xu Chengyi downplayed them as mere scratches and urged Xia Yan to check on Ling Wei instead. When Xia Yan visited Ling Wei, she informed her that they had found the trolls' address and they were currently being interrogated. Ling Wei was eager to know the mastermind behind the attack, but Xia Yan explained that they would only get answers after the police interrogation. Meanwhile, Xu Chengyi secretly visited the ophthalmology department.

The doctor revealed that his eyes, already injured years ago and exacerbated by a recent car accident and the flash from the reporter, were in serious condition. He was suffering from a vitreous hemorrhage, which could potentially lead to blindness if not treated carefully. The doctor emphasized the need for rest and continuous treatment, including an MRI. Later, Ling Wei, noticing Xu Chengyi's presence near ophthalmology, discreetly inquired with the doctor, learning the severity of his eye condition.

She confronted Xu Chengyi, threatening to tell Xia Yan if he didn't reveal the truth. Xu Chengyi reluctantly admitted he might go blind, expressing his fear of worrying Xia Yan, who was already blaming herself for the recent events. Ling Wei, recalling their shared history of injuries, urged him to seek treatment in America, where she knew the best ophthalmologist.

However, Xu Chengyi refused, stating he couldn't leave due to the critical situation at SG Technology and his promise to Xia Yan to protect her forever. Ling Wei, feeling a surge of jealousy, then left to wash some fruits. Separately, Lin Hao was struggling with his business. A crucial contract remained unsigned because President Kang had consulted a fortuneteller who advised against signing it that month.

Lin Hao suspected Han Shuang's mother, Han Mingzhu, was behind the delay and ordered his employees to investigate. At the same time, his landlord called, reminding him that his office rent was due next month and he owed six months' rent; Lin Hao pleaded for an extension, promising to pay the full six months. Zhao Xiaolei called Lin Hao at work to offer to bring him dinner, but he reacted angrily, scolding her for calling during business hours.

Later, Zhao Xiaojun, an employee, questioned whether Han Mingzhu truly interfered, suggesting it was more likely due to Lin Hao's dinner with President Kang. That evening, Zhao Xiaolei felt uneasy after seeing photos of Lin Hao with other entrepreneurs online. When Lin Hao returned home, she tried to comfort him about his business troubles, but he was irritable and blamed Han Shuang for ruining his deal. Zhao Xiaolei offered to talk to Han Shuang, but Lin Hao vehemently forbade her from interacting with "those people."
