Xu Feng survives a near-fatal wound thanks to the protection of his immortal perception, but both he and Lin Muhan are captured and brought to the Qinghong Sect. In the main hall, disciples report that while the members of the Sun Moon Cavern have been apprehended, several individuals from Lingji Mountain and the Tianyuan Sect are still at large. Lin Muhan remains defiant, mocking the sect as "wild chickens" and threatening them with his father’s wrath.
Unmoved, Futian orders his followers to extract Xu Feng’s immortal perception immediately. Meanwhile, Lord Baori questions Futian’s hesitation regarding Lu Qianqiao, the man who escaped the paper mill, hinting at lingering sentiments. Lord Tiling intervenes, reminding Baori of the hierarchy within North Xiang. Later, Lord Tiling questions Zuo Yingying, also known as Vajra Xunmu, regarding the security failure at the paper mill.
Zuo Yingying dismisses the accusations, claiming that as a mere Foundation Building cultivator, she could not have prevented the intrusion. She subtly taunts Tiling, suggesting that a master of the Void Stage should find it simple enough to recapture the escapees personally. Elsewhere, Bai Zongying and Jiang Ji seek refuge at an inn after escaping an ambush. As they discuss their pursuers, Bai Zongying expresses growing doubts about their mission.
While the sect views the Wushuang Society as demonic practitioners, Bai Zongying notes a difference; true monsters have beast-like, cruel eyes, whereas the Wushuang members possess clear, courageous gazes. Sima Randeng soon arrives with news of another ambush, reporting that Lin Muhan has been lost. Sima Randeng urges Bai Zongying to abandon the injured Lingji Mountain disciples and flee, but Bai Zongying refuses to sacrifice his allies. The Qinghong Sect soon catches up to them at the inn.
Lord Tiling mocks the disciples for burning the library, declaring that none shall escape. During the struggle, Bai Zongying orders Sima Randeng to take Jiang Ji and retreat, sacrificing his own freedom. He is subsequently overwhelmed and taken prisoner. In a maple forest, Sheng encounters the one-armed Jin Lun and confirms he was the one who rescued Little An.
Realizing Jin Lun survived his fall into the abyss, Sheng fears the treacherous Xia Xuanzi is also alive, putting Xin Mei in grave danger. When Jin Lun confronts her about her coldness, Sheng offers a hollow apology, reminding him that he chose to involve himself in her life. She claims her heartless nature is an inheritance from her father and warns him to stop following her. However, her journey is interrupted when she is wounded by Xia Xuanzi’s black crows.
Unconscious, she is discovered by Lord Tiling and dragged to the sect’s dungeons. In the dark cells, Sheng is reunited with Xin Mei. Their emotional meeting is observed by Lord Tiling, who cruelly mocks their bond. Meanwhile, Futian learns that Dharma King Niankong’s heart meridian was severely damaged by Bai Zongying. Lord Baori suggests that among their "human pills," there are Nascent Soul cultivators whose golden liquid can be refined to save Niankong.
Baori and Zuo Yingying enter the prison to seize Xin Mei. Despite Sheng’s desperate protests, Xin Mei agrees to go with them to prevent the guards from harming her sister. Lu Qianqiao returns to the ruins of Liubo Temple alongside Chu Ying. He finds the temple destroyed and discovers a tombstone for his master, Duan Xianyin, which bears his own name as the one who erected it. The sight triggers his suppressed memories.
He recalls that Duan Xianyin was actually a heretical cultivator who tortured him to study the resilience of his War Demon physique. He remembers the truth: he and another boy had poisoned and strangled her together. Lu Qianqiao realizes he had fabricated a peaceful past to avoid feeling like a wandering ghost without a home.
At the Tianyuan Sect, Sima Randeng returns alone and reports the ambush to the Sect Master, claiming Bai Zongying insisted on staying behind to protect others. Upon hearing that they have been separated for ten days, the Sect Master realizes it is already too late to mount a rescue. Back at the Qinghong Sect, Xin Mei is brought before Futian. She mocks his claim of being the Nirvana Divine Phoenix.
Lord Baori demands her immortal perception be harvested, and while Zuo Yingying attempts to delay the process by suggesting Xin Mei be used as bait for Lu Qianqiao, Futian decides to proceed. However, as he attempts to seize her soul-core, the blood pact between Xin Mei and Lu Qianqiao acts as a powerful shield, thwarting the extraction. Far away at Liubo Temple, Lu Qianqiao feels an agonizing sensation through the bond, sensing that Xin Mei is in peril.
