Resumen del episodio 1 de Fate Chooses You
> Resúmenes de Fate Chooses You
Long ago, the War Demons were cursed by the gods with the "Five Imperfections" for their defiance: blood-boiling mania, an inability to feel pain or sleep, and the loss of color vision and taste, where everything tasted of rot. As their thousand-year sentence neared its end, the gods vanished and the heavenly ladder was severed.
Desperate, the War Demons tried to sacrifice half of all living beings to regrow the Jianmu Tree and reach heaven, but they were eventually exterminated by a coalition of humans and the Youhu Clan, led by High Priest Yuan Zhong. Any surviving War Demon seeking to become human had to endure five agonizing trials—peeling skin, carving flesh, scraping bones, purifying blood, and gouging the heart—a process requiring a blood pact with kin for even a sliver of hope.
In Wei County, a cultivator named Xin Mei arrived at the local prison to meet Lu Huai (also known as Lu Qianqiao), the former magistrate sentenced to death by a thousand cuts for corruption and inflating grain prices during a famine. Xin Mei, cursed with a fate that brought death to her husbands, needed to marry three times to dissolve her "widowhood" energy; her two previous fiancés had already perished.
She hoped that marrying a death-row prisoner would clear her curse so she could finally be with her heart's true desire. Lu Huai, having no surviving family, agreed to the arrangement simply because he didn't want to be forgotten and hoped someone would burn joss paper for him after death. While Xin Mei appeared to be a young woman, she had actually been practicing cultivation for sixty years at the Xin Xie Manor.
Returning to her old neighborhood at Tianshui Lane, she found her aunt had passed away and her childhood friend, Sun Yao (Chubby), was now an old man. During a gathering, she modestly performed a "water to ice" spell, explaining that her cultivation had stalled at the mid-level of the Qi Cultivation Realm due to a past mistake.
Her old neighbors spoke of Lu Huai with pure hatred, describing how he had ignored imperial decrees during a devastating flood in the Yong region. Instead of lowering grain prices for refugees, he accepted bribes and allowed merchants to hike them, later behaving so arrogantly in court that his sentence was upgraded to a slow execution. Despite learning of his reputation, Xin Mei returned to the prison to finalize the marriage.
She promised Lu Huai that she would honor him not just on holidays, but also on his birthday and death anniversary, and would ensure her future descendants did the same. Lu Huai accepted and provided her with money for wedding supplies. He also gave her a "Green Lotus Treasure Jade Ring," a high-grade magical artifact he claimed was just a blessed charm for protection.
Around this time, a guard named Liu Ge was nearly killed by Lu Huai for disrespectfully sniffing Xin Mei’s handkerchief, an incident that Constable Chu Ying had to cover up. Xin Mei’s master sent word through a magical messenger, urging her to return to the manor. He noted that her cultivation had already dropped three times because she kept meddling in mortal affairs.
He reminded her that as a "Heavenly Talent" born on September 9th, she was tied to a prophecy of a world savior. Before the wedding, Xin Mei also visited a burial plot her grandfather had reserved for her years ago, a gesture meant to ensure she always had a place to "root" herself after her long travels. The wedding took place within the prison walls.
Chu Ying brought the wedding clothes to Lu Huai, though the prisoner was unable to see the festive red color. Dressed in bridal finery, the couple performed a simple ceremony, binding their hair together and bowing to the Matchmaker Deity. Following the union, Xin Mei prepared to leave Wei County to handle sect business. Lu Huai admitted his fear of the upcoming execution but told her he had to take responsibility for his actions, viewing his fate as his karma.
As a final request, Lu Huai asked Xin Mei to visit his mansion and take a potted flower he had kept under the corridor so it wouldn't wither. When Xin Mei arrived at the Lu residence to retrieve the plant, she encountered two children, Lu Jiujiu and Lu Xiaodao, who were hiding there. Meanwhile, back at the prison, an official named Song Qingbao visited Lu Huai two days before the execution to ask one final time if he had any grievances to declare.
