> Resúmenes de Ordinary Greatness
Officer Cheng Hao and Xia Jie interrogated a female suspect involved in prostitution. Cheng Hao pressed her with a harsh tone, demanding to know how long she had been involved and details about her past activities, including a crime in Zhuma Alley. Xia Jie, finding Cheng Hao's aggressive questioning disrespectful, quietly left the interrogation room. Cheng Hao followed, thinking she might be unwell.
Xia Jie then confronted him, stating that his approach was disrespectful and humiliating, reminding him that even a suspect deserves basic respect before trial. Cheng Hao dismissed her concerns, suggesting she rest and asking Officer Dou to take over the interrogation. As Xia Jie walked past another interrogation room, Xiang Cuihua, the woman arrested earlier, desperately waved and pleaded with Xia Jie to call her husband, worried about her seven-year-old daughter, Wang Shuaiyang.
Xia Jie then stepped away to call her own mother, who was recovering from a cold. When Xia Jie explained she was busy and wouldn't be able to come home that night, her mother became upset, accusing Cheng Hao of overworking her. Xia Jie tried to explain her desire to learn and grow as a police officer, but her mother persisted, even threatening not to eat if Xia Jie didn't return. Feigning urgency, Xia Jie quickly ended the call.
Cao Jianjun had not returned to the police station, and Wang Shouyi correctly deduced that he was counseling Yuhao, the young man who attempted to jump from a building. Wang Shouyi waited downstairs for Cao Jianjun, who emerged after settling Yuhao. Wang Shouyi acknowledged Cao Jianjun's bravery but immediately admonished his impulsiveness, citing his actions in the current situation where he acted without waiting for the fire brigade.
Cao Jianjun defended his actions by explaining that the fire brigade was stuck in traffic and Yuhao's emotional state was critical. Wang Shouyi sternly warned Cao Jianjun against such unauthorized actions in the future, even threatening punishment, explaining that he did so for Cao Jianjun's own good. He urged Cao Jianjun to consider his wife and child, reminding him of Chen Xincheng’s tragic past where a similar situation led to disciplinary action and a fractured family.
Xia Jie unexpectedly received a call from Xiang Cuihua's husband, who quickly arrived at the police station. He tearfully explained that their daughter, Wang Shuaiyang, suffered from asthma and urgently needed her medicine, begging Xia Jie to ask Xiang Cuihua where the medicine was, emphasizing his wife's desperation to support their family. Xia Jie reassured him that she would handle the situation.
Upon returning to the station, Xia Jie learned that the suspects, including Xiang Cuihua, were being transferred to the detention center. Wanting to help, Xia Jie bought several drumsticks from the cafeteria, intending to personally escort Xiang Cuihua and deliver the food. However, as she was assigned to a transport vehicle, she overheard another officer, Ms. Xu, confirm that Xiang Cuihua was the main culprit.
Realizing she had nearly been misled, Xia Jie quickly withdrew her offer to switch cars and, feeling disappointed, left with the chicken drumsticks without passing any message to Xiang Cuihua. Xia Jie returned home late that night, bringing her mother's favorite Shaomai and char siew pastry. Her mother, still concerned, asked if anything bad had happened at work, expressing worries about Xia Jie going hungry or being mistreated by Wang Shouyi.
Xia Jie assured her that everyone at the station was overly kind, making her feel stressed, as she simply wished to be an ordinary police officer. Her mother then mentioned wanting to apply for recuperation from the bureau, but no one answered her calls. Xia Jie advised against bothering the bureau, explaining the strict welfare policies, and promised to fund her mother's recuperation once she received her salary.
Meanwhile, Zhao Jiwei, noticing that instructor Ye Wei was working during the day and caring for an elderly family member at the hospital at night, offered his help, explaining his past experience caring for his own grandfather. Ye Wei politely declined his offer. Wang Shouyi, overhearing their conversation, approached Ye Wei to offer arranging help from the station, but Ye Wei indicated she could manage for now, adding that Chief Gao and Chief Cheng were already assisting with shifts.
Li Dawei approached Chen Xincheng, offering him freshly made tea and repeatedly apologizing for his unauthorized actions during the recent robber apprehension. He tried to explain that the robbers were about to flee, and his prompt action was necessary to prevent their escape. Chen Xincheng, however, was clearly still upset, sarcastically asking if he should be grateful and declaring that from now on, Li Dawei was on his own and should consider Chen Xincheng a non-factor.
Early the next morning, a young woman named Li, the victim of the robbery, arrived to reclaim her recovered phone and wallet. Cheng Hao credited Xia Jie for the successful recovery, then Xia Jie advised the victim to be more vigilant about her belongings. After the victim left, Xia Jie eagerly pressed Cheng Hao for details, recalling that they had initially given up the chase.
Cheng Hao revealed his "indirect" strategy: knowing the robber only had the phone and would likely try to sell it quickly at smaller shops, he alerted local store owners, leading to the swift capture of the perpetrator and recovery of the stolen goods. Xia Jie, realizing her misunderstanding, apologized for thinking ill of her master.
Just as she was about to confess another "mistake," Cheng Hao received an urgent call from Captain Wu about a meeting at the district bureau, interrupting their conversation. He then assigned Xia Jie, Li Dawei, and Yang Shu to handle a nuisance complaint from Guiyuan Community. Xia Jie, Li Dawei, and Yang Shu arrived at the Guiyuan Community to investigate the disturbance.
They met the reporting neighbor, an aunt, who complained that the couple upstairs on the fourth floor was excessively loud during their intimate moments, causing her walls to sway and disturbing her family, especially her school-aged child. The three young officers were at a loss, exchanging awkward glances. The aunt then criticized the police station for sending "young guys" to handle such a sensitive matter. Li Dawei suggested that the aunt accompany them upstairs to "remind" the couple.
However, the aunt, fearing repercussions, vehemently refused to go or act as a witness, arguing that the couple would just scold her after the police left, and without her testimony, the officers couldn't act either. Seeing her reluctance, the officers had no choice but to get her to sign an agreement not to pursue the matter further, officially closing the case. On the drive back, Xia Jie remained silent, seemingly lost in thought.
Yang Shu noticed her preoccupation, while the usually boisterous Li Dawei remained oblivious. Yang Shu praised Li Dawei's quick thinking in resolving the nuisance case, and again brought up the idea of them co-renting an apartment, even suggesting Xia Jie could join. Xia Jie then voiced her deeper concerns, questioning if her ideals of being a "good police officer" were truly achievable, acknowledging that "no one is God's favored one."
Meanwhile, Zhang Zhijie and Zhao Jiwei were on a community visit, responding to an elderly couple's complaint about their unfilial children. The children, two sons and a daughter, had returned only after hearing about a demolition fund, engaging in a heated argument and even a physical fight over the money. Zhang Zhijie intervened, sternly stopping their quarrel. He then instructed Zhao Jiwei to take the couple's grandson, Bao, out to eat.
Zhao Jiwei took Bao to a nearby restaurant, but the owner, upon seeing the police, panicked and tried to hide. Finding his behavior suspicious, Zhao Jiwei followed him into a nearby alley. After verifying his ID, Zhao Jiwei discovered the owner was a recently released convict. Zhao Jiwei immediately reported this to Zhang Zhijie, who calmly responded that such a finding was normal and they would discuss it further back at the station.
As Li Dawei, Xia Jie, and Yang Shu drove back to the station, Li Dawei suddenly spotted his father, Li Yisheng, hurrying along the street. He quickly got out of the car and found his father, who recognized him and teased him about being a policeman. Li Yisheng claimed to have returned after traveling to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, implying he made a lot of money.
Li Dawei insisted on taking his father back, but Li Yisheng resisted, causing a struggle in the street that was filmed by passersby. Xia Jie, seeing the situation, shouted a warning to Li Dawei about being recorded in uniform. Taking advantage of the distraction, Li Yisheng broke free and fled, with Li Dawei giving chase. Zhao Jiwei continued to work late every night, often dozing off at his desk during the day.
Instructor Ye Wei, concerned about his lack of sleep, offered him a bed in her office. However, Zhao Jiwei politely refused, stating he wasn't sleepy and wanted to learn more, choosing instead to go outside for fresh air. She also mentioned to another officer that Zhao Jiwei had been sleeping in the office for days and had inquired about dormitories, but then claimed to have a place to live, finding his behavior a bit strange.
Meanwhile, Xia Jie and Yang Shu, worried about Li Dawei after the incident with his father, called him. Li Dawei assured them he was fine and explained that he had settled his father in a small hotel, strictly forbidding him from leaving. Wang Shouyi and Cheng Hao prepared flowers and fruits to visit Xia Jie's mother. Cheng Hao, feeling nervous about facing her, questioned whether the gift was appropriate, expressing his reluctance.
Wang Shouyi reminded him that as Xia Jie's master, he had to face it eventually, and that Xia Jie's mother would likely be more reserved in front of her daughter. When Xia Jie arrived, they praised her dedication to staying with her male colleagues despite having an office, likening her to her father. They then offered to drive her home and visit her mother.
However, Xia Jie declined, explaining she had a reunion with classmates that night to celebrate her official entry into the police force. Wang Shouyi handed her the gifts to give to her mother instead. Shortly after, Wang Shouyi received an urgent phone call. He became very agitated, demanding to know where Li Dawei was and instructing Chen Xincheng to call him back to the station immediately, threatening to fire him if he no longer wished to be a police officer.
