The drama is adapted from Xiao Jia Ren's novel of the same name. It tells the story of Wei Rao, who was switched out of her family home as a child due to a family change. To raise money for her adoptive mother's medical treatment, she takes the place of the fake Wei Rao and marries into the Lu family. After Lu Zhuo waking up, he and Wei Rao go from testing each other to working together. They face identity crises and family challenges, eventually becoming a couple. Together, they join the border war to defend their country and protect the people.

Sinopse
A Chou was a lowly night-soil collector on the streets, trampled and bullied by everyone. Only because she bore a striking resemblance to Wei Rao (Jun Dai), the daughter of a marquis household, did she unexpectedly become the bride for a arranged marriage to cure the illness of Lu Zhuo, the heir of a dukedom.
A Chou was ambitious and seized the chance to rise in status. However, her dying husband suddenly woke up, and her act of "the cuckoo taking over the magpie's nest" brought a string of disasters.
Wei Rao, resenting that A Chou had stolen her place, was eager to get rid of her. Lu Zhuo, believing A Chou to be a scheming woman, was constantly wary and plotting against her. The ducal mansion appeared harmonious on the surface, but was full of traps and dangers at every step.
