Ten years ago, the Su family was falsely accused in a witchcraft case and wiped out, with only the eldest daughter, Su Zhaoxue, narrowly escaping. Determined to find her missing sister and uncover the truth, she disguises herself as a man and ventures into the capital. By chance, she meets Fang Ji, an imperial censor entangled in the case, and the two join forces. Under the guise of imperial envoys, they travel to Jinzhou to investigate.
As they carefully unravel the clues, they discover that local officials are using witchcraft accusations as a cover for illegal salt trafficking, which also leads them to new evidence about the Su family’s past case. As their investigation deepens, the mastermind—none other than the Imperial Preceptor—gradually emerges, with a scheme that threatens imperial power itself. After facing life-and-death trials, Su Zhaoxue and Fang Ji ultimately expose the shocking truth in court, clearing the grievances of her family and countless wronged souls, before choosing to retire from the world together.
