Cheng Liao visited Master Xie's backyard at the Go dojo, a place she had never been to despite her many visits to the dojo. She admired the exquisite collections Master Xie had gathered over the years, especially a unique Go set. Sheng Jingchu explained that these were Yongzi stones, originating from Baoshan, Yunnan, also known as Yongchang.
They were crafted by Mr. Li De Zhang using local southern red agate, jadeite jade, and other precious stones, making them a "national treasure" and an intangible cultural heritage. Cheng Liao observed their dark green color, to which Sheng Jingchu recalled Master Xie's lesson: "The Go world is not just in black and white. When it comes into contact with light, it will become ever-changing."
Later, Sheng Jingchu played Go with Master Xie, who remarked on the significant changes in Sheng Jingchu's playing style. He noted Sheng Jingchu's willingness to sacrifice local corners to build a large external territory, a strategy he hadn't employed before, indicating a shift in his mindset. Sheng Jingchu admitted he didn't overthink it, playing purely on intuition, which he believed was influenced by Cheng Liao.
He confessed to Master Xie that he could now see colors, and that Cheng Liao, and anything she touched, appeared in vibrant hues. Master Xie was delighted, calling it a breakthrough after years of psychological counseling. He urged Sheng Jingchu to revisit his psychologist, ideally with Cheng Liao, to seize this opportunity for a full recovery. Unbeknownst to them, Yao Ke overheard their conversation.
He later discussed Sheng Jingchu's upcoming overseas mixed doubles Go championship, confirming He Yu would be Sheng Jingchu's partner, with his brother, Yao Pu. Yao Ke also brought up He Yu's past public confession to Sheng Jingchu, which had caused a stir online. He planned to help He Yu pursue Sheng Jingchu, believing that Sheng Jingchu would visit his psychologist before his trip as per Master Xie's advice. He instructed Yao Pu to closely follow Sheng Jingchu.
Following Master Xie's advice, Sheng Jingchu visited his psychologist, Dr. Chang Lai. Dr. Chang Lai greeted him, noting his rosy complexion and asking about his "color girl." Sheng Jingchu shared that his world wasn't entirely in color, but the range of colors he saw around Cheng Liao, including things she touched and objects within two to three meters of her, had expanded.
Dr. Chang Lai was amazed, attributing it to the power of psychology and Sheng Jingchu untying a mental knot. He reiterated that Sheng Jingchu must continue his "medicine" (therapy) and, more importantly, tell Cheng Liao about his condition soon. Sheng Jingchu admitted his initial fear of appearing strange and his current fear of upsetting her.
Dr. Chang Lai firmly told him that "speed is the best tactic" in matters of health and love, warning that if Cheng Liao discovered it herself, "all your efforts will be in vain." Sheng Jingchu promised to tell Cheng Liao everything after his return from the competition. Meanwhile, He Yu sought out Cheng Liao at her restaurant.
She bluntly informed Cheng Liao that she was Sheng Jingchu's partner for the overseas mixed doubles tournament and warned her not to interfere by making Sheng Jingchu feign illness or lie to get out of the competition. Cheng Liao, equally direct, assured He Yu that she would not hinder Sheng Jingchu and would encourage him to participate.
He Yu then provocatively claimed that while Cheng Liao was "straightforward and generous," she was still unworthy of Sheng Jingchu, who "should be mine." She proposed a bet: she and Sheng Jingchu would win the competition through unspoken understanding, proving she was his true soulmate, and if they won, Cheng Liao should "leave with grace." Cheng Liao found the idea ridiculous, calling it "daylight robbery" and dismissing He Yu's "blind confidence."
She asserted that she understood her "Panda" (Sheng Jingchu) and He Yu had no chance. Cheng Liao emphatically stated that she would not go overseas, even jokingly saying "I will be a dog if I go." Back home, Cheng Liao recounted the encounter to her sister, expressing her frustration with He Yu's self-obsession. Despite her confidence in Sheng Jingchu, she confessed her anxieties about him traveling with He Yu: "Will they be sitting next to each other on the plane?
Will they be meeting each other every day overseas? Are their rooms next to each other too? Will they be having their meals together every day? Whenever I think of these, I feel my head is going to explode." Her sister reassured her, emphasizing that trust was the most important aspect of a relationship. Still uneasy, Sheng Jingchu tried to find a way out of the partnership.
He suggested to Cheng Liao that he could ask the Go association to replace him or for his assistant, Qi, to accompany him. When that didn't work out, he asked Cheng Liao to come with him. However, Cheng Liao, recalling her earlier declaration to He Yu and her confidence in Sheng Jingchu, declined, citing her busy restaurant and her belief that she shouldn't "always stick around" him.
She told him that it was enough if he thought of her, and encouraged him to go and win the championship. Sheng Jingchu, though disappointed, was touched by her sensible nature and promised to bring back a championship for her. The next day, as Sheng Jingchu was about to leave for the airport, he discovered that the committee had arranged for him and He Yu to share a car.
He tried to refuse, asking for his luggage to be taken out so he could take a taxi, but the committee staff insisted that all travel arrangements were unified. Cheng Liao, who was there to see him off, urged him to comply and not make things difficult for the staff, saying, "You go quickly. Good luck with the competition. I will wait for you." With her encouragement, Sheng Jingchu reluctantly got into the car with He Yu.
Soon after, Yao Ke, following up on his plan, visited Dr. Chang Lai's psychological counseling office. He feigned being colorblind, claiming to see only black and white, and described experiencing flashes of color around one specific person. Dr. Chang Lai, not realizing Yao Ke's deception, excitedly confirmed he had "just healed someone" with similar symptoms and boasted about his expertise.
When Yao Ke asked if the "color range expanded" when he met that person again, Dr. Chang Lai confirmed, saying, "Yes, that's right. It's very easy to treat your illness." Yao Ke, having gathered enough information, returned to Yao Pu, confirming that Sheng Jingchu was indeed colorblind and that Cheng Liao was the source of his color vision.
He chillingly concluded that Cheng Liao was merely a "tool" for Sheng Jingchu's psychological treatment, and that if she were to leave him, he "will collapse." Yao Ke then planned to mail the psychologist's leaflet to Sheng Jingchu's home to further his scheme, then decided to host a dinner for his fellow Go players. Overseas, Sheng Jingchu video-called Cheng Liao, and they playfully expressed missing each other.
He Yu then entered Sheng Jingchu's room with Chinese food, claiming to have ordered it specifically because she feared he wouldn't adapt to local cuisine. Sheng Jingchu rejected her, stating he didn't want to see her. Undeterred, He Yu snatched Sheng Jingchu's phone and declared to Cheng Liao that she would take good care of Sheng Jingchu, as he "will be mine soon." Cheng Liao remained unfazed, reminding He Yu that "blind confidence is a taboo for Go players."
Annoyed, Sheng Jingchu then drove He Yu out of his room. Shortly after, Cheng Liao received a package from Sheng Jingchu, who asked her to open it. He also mentioned Yao Ke was treating everyone to dinner to celebrate his half-year in Jiuzhou and jokingly asked her to eat his share. Cheng Liao, still vigilant, reminded him not to eat anything He Yu sent him. The next evening, Yao Ke hosted a barbecue for his fellow Go players.
During the dinner, a visibly depressed Yao Ke confessed to his lingering regret over his crushing defeat against Sheng Jingchu in the Ten-game Match. He admitted he felt "depressed" and lacked the courage to participate in any competitions, constantly haunted by the public's ridicule. Cao Xihe and Xiaolan tried to comfort him, emphasizing that winning and losing are normal and his skills are evident. Xie Chang'an advised him to seek professional help for his psychological issues.
At this point, Sheng Jingchu's assistant, in a drunken state, loudly revealed that "Mr. Sheng has seen countless psychological counselors" and was "cured by an impressive psychologist with one sentence." Cheng Liao, who was also present, was shocked to learn Sheng Jingchu was seeing a psychologist. Cao Xihe, Xiaolan, and Xie Chang'an quickly explained that Sheng Jingchu's introverted nature and childhood trauma had caused him deep "loneliness and fear," which he had "wrapped himself up tightly in layers."
They clarified that only Cheng Liao had truly touched and resolved these issues, and that seeing a psychologist was "out of desperation." Cheng Liao, now understanding the depth of Sheng Jingchu's struggles, vowed to stay by his side and not let him suffer alone anymore. Later, she video-called Sheng Jingchu, regretting not accompanying him. She told him, "I should have squeezed myself into your luggage and left with you."
She promised, "Whatever you will encounter in the future, I will always be with you." She insisted he tell her immediately if anything upset him, adding, "Whenever you need me, I will be right there for you." Sheng Jingchu, touched, asked her to spend a full day chatting with him when he returned. At the Pair Go Paris Championship, Sheng Jingchu and He Yu were interviewed. The interviewer noted their "temporary combination" and asked about their confidence against long-term partners.
He Yu confidently stated that their "tacit understanding isn't based on the time accumulated over a long period alone but also based on the same IQ level and cognitive level to understand each other quicker and establish an unbreakable tacit understanding." She exuded confidence in their victory.
