Qian Fei finds Jingjing in a deeply disheartened and exhausted state. Having just rejected Lu Ze's marriage proposal, Jingjing feels completely drained of energy. Heartbroken to see her friend in such a mess on New Year's Eve, Qian Fei insists on taking her back to her apartment and coaxes her to get some rest. While Jingjing sleeps, Qian Fei checks on Li Yifei's room. Finding him out, she mutters to herself that he simply cannot stand being alone.
Qian Fei quickly prepares a table full of delicious dishes using the high-quality ingredients Li Yifei had bought, though she jokes that he is a spendthrift. When Jingjing wakes up, the two friends raise their glasses to toast the New Year. Sensing a change, Jingjing asks if Qian Fei has secretly started dating, noting that she looks prettier and more feminine. Qian Fei laughs it off, pointing out that she is long over her ex, Wang Ruohai.
Soon, the conversation turns back to Lu Ze. When Qian Fei mentions that Lu Ze shut down his company, Xinxin Vision, to be with her, Jingjing looks depressed. Qian Fei frankly points out that Jingjing clearly hasn't let him go, and that refusing him now after he sacrificed everything for her seems unreasonable. Feeling overwhelmed and confused, a heavily intoxicated Jingjing insists on going to a KTV to sing, and Qian Fei accompanies her.
Meanwhile, to avoid upsetting his mother—who had previously disapproved of Dang Yu—Jun Cheng makes up an excuse that he is heading out to celebrate with Li Yifei and their friends. In reality, he joins Dang Yu at her place, where they spend the evening playing video games. After successfully clearing a tough level, an excited Jun Cheng instinctively hugs Dang Yu, and she does not push him away.
At his parents' home, Jun Cheng's mother is secretly watching videos of Dang Yu dancing on her phone, admitting to her husband that the girl is actually quite talented and nice. Seeing his wife's attitude change, Jun Cheng's father quickly sends a text message to his son, letting him know that his mother has finally relented and encouraging him to pursue Dang Yu.
At the same KTV venue, Li Yifei, who was stood up by Qian Fei, has organized a large gathering with his own friends to ring in the New Year. During their session, Lu Ze calls Jingjing's phone to check on her. Hearing the noisy background, Lu Ze realizes they are out singing and insists on driving over. As the night wraps up, Jingjing is so dizzy she can barely walk.
As Qian Fei supports her stagger out of the building, two thugs spot them and try to harass them, grabbing Jingjing's arm. Qian Fei tries to fend them off, but they lack the strength to break free. Seeing the commotion, Li Yifei rushes out to protect them. Just then, Lu Ze pulls up in his car and joins Li Yifei in fighting off the thugs.
When the thugs threaten to call for backup, Li Yifei makes a quick phone call, prompting his friends from the KTV to pour out of the lobby. Terrified by the crowd, the thugs quickly flee. While Lu Ze and Qian Fei bring the girls inside to rest, Li Yifei returns to the KTV room to bid farewell to his friends.
His friends express their dissatisfaction, complaining that he is abandoning them after they gave up their own New Year's Eve plans to join his gathering. Later, they head to a nearby congee shop. Li Yifei orders a bowl of white fungus and papaya soup for Qian Fei, along with some preserved egg and pork congee. He scolds her for being careless, though she notes his temper has softened.
Wishing to speak with Lu Ze, Qian Fei coaxes Li Yifei to leave them. She then questions Lu Ze about his intentions. Lu Ze admits his regrets, explaining that while Jingjing seems tough, she is incredibly fragile and has sacrificed too much for him over the years. He declares his unwavering love, stating that even if she doesn't accept him now, he will wait by her side until she does.
Moved by his sincerity, Qian Fei decides to give him her blessing. Meanwhile, outside, Li Yifei's friend Jin asks to be introduced to the "tough girl" Qian Fei, but Li Yifei protectively refuses, warning him that Qian Fei takes life very seriously and isn't someone to be trifled with. Once the countdown hits midnight and they usher in the New Year, Li Yifei returns to find the girls asleep.
Lu Ze insists on coming along to Qian Fei's apartment, arguing that he can clean up if the drunken Jingjing throws up during the night. Although Li Yifei complains about the apartment contract rules regarding the sofa, he ultimately relents. However, once they arrive at the apartment, a nauseous Jingjing unexpectedly asks Lu Ze to come into her bedroom so they can talk.
Sitting on the living room sofa, Li Yifei jokingly tells Qian Fei that she is like the Little Match Girl, having had her own bed taken over on New Year's Eve. Qian Fei argues that Jingjing still harbored deep resentment earlier, but Li Yifei's prediction turns out to be entirely accurate. Hearing noises from the bedroom, Qian Fei realizes she is locked out of her own room and ends up sleeping on the sofa for the night.
The next morning, Qian Fei prepares a warm breakfast for Li Yifei. A sheepish Jingjing and Lu Ze finally emerge from the bedroom, clearly reconciled. Looking at Jingjing's swollen lips, Qian Fei and Li Yifei playfully tease her, making her blush as she jokingly claims her lips are just worn out from arguing all night.
After finishing his breakfast, Li Yifei excuses himself from the table, leaving Qian Fei a list of chores, including ironing his favorite shirt and emptying the bathroom trash. Qian Fei then presents Li Yifei with a study plan she customized for him, pointing out that he only has six months left before his exam. She tells him to boil some tea eggs while she prepares
