Xia Tian felt a growing unease; she was about to marry Guan Xin, yet many questions remained unanswered, and things felt strange to her. Guan Xin, although suspecting a particular name, refrained from asking it directly to avoid any unnecessary arguments before their impending wedding. He hoped that after they were married, everything would resolve itself. Meanwhile, Xu Zehao persistently sought a meeting with Alex, finally securing a half-hour slot.
He presented Xia Tian’s portfolio, emphasizing her deep admiration for Alex’s work and her own creative talent. Xu Zehao highlighted how Xia Tian’s designs, inspired by Alex, incorporated elements of nature, wood, and human interaction, reflecting her dream of creating a warm urban forest in a concrete city. Alex was impressed by Xia Tian’s design style and Xu Zehao’s sincere efforts, but the Old Block Creative Market Project had stringent requirements for a team's experience, size, and capital.
Xu Zehao assured Alex that he would provide all necessary assistance in those areas and would send all of Xia Tian’s information. He later discussed with Mr. Yu the demanding nature of the bidding process, acknowledging that Xia Tian’s studio was small with limited experience and staff. Xu Zehao committed to helping them, ensuring they were well-prepared. He drove to Xia Tian’s house, not wanting to disturb her but believing this project was perfect for her.
From her window, Xia Tian saw Xu Zehao's car, which further complicated her feelings. Lu Xi arranged to meet Guan Xin, believing she had something important to tell him. Coincidentally, Guan Xin also had significant news to share. To Lu Xi’s surprise, Guan Xin happily announced that he and Xia Tian were getting married.
Suppressing her heartbreak, Lu Xi stammered that she was moving in a few days and would return the items he had given her, which she no longer needed. He even proposed they start preparations the following week. Xia Tian, however, felt uneasy. She explained that working with Alex, her idol since college, was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that she couldn't afford to miss. Soon after, Mr. Yu arrived to deliver detailed bidding cases and Alex's style references for the project, which made Guan Xin visibly displeased as it meant Xia Tian would be working closely with Xu Zehao once again. That evening, Xiao Song and Donghao joined Xia Tian and Guan Xin for dinner to celebrate.
However, Xia Tian revealed she was still deliberating about the project because it conflicted with their wedding date. Xiao Song passionately urged her to take the opportunity, emphasizing the studio's journey through difficult projects and the prestige of collaborating with Alex, Xia Tian's long-time idol. Guan Xin was deeply conflicted. He reflected on how their relationship had lost its former ease, becoming cautious and strained.
He felt that if he agreed to the project, he would remain anxious, but if he refused, Xia Tian would carry a lifelong regret. The next morning, Guan Xin prepared breakfast. He told Xia Tian to get ready so they could visit their new home to measure for the bed, assuring her that his mother would oversee the rest of the renovations.
Xia Tian realized this meant Guan Xin had agreed to her taking on Alex's project and hugged him happily. Seeing her relief, Guan Xin also felt a sense of ease. As Xia Tian went to wash her hair, she asked Guan Xin to retrieve her hair-drying cap from her bedroom closet. While searching, Guan Xin discovered a hidden box.
Inside, he found a collection of photos of Xia Tian and Xu Zehao, movie tickets, an aquarium ticket from their fourth-anniversary, and love letters, meticulously documenting their five-year relationship. The discovery, particularly a photo of Xia Tian, Xu Zehao, Xiao Song, and Donghao together, deeply shocked Guan Xin and left him profoundly distressed.
