Against the Current
Against the Current is a historical romance drama starring Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi, featuring Li Meng and Guo Keyu.
The drama is adapted from He Yanshan's novel "Lan Xiang Yuan / 兰香缘". It tells the story of Shen Jialan, the eldest granddaughter of a grand scholar's family, whose family is falsely accused and destroyed. She assumes the identity of Xu Lanxiang, the daughter of Lin family's servant, and goes undercover as a maid in the Lin household. Through her resistance against oppression, she breaks free from the constraints of class, eventually takes control of the Lin family, and clears her own family's name.

Sinopse
Shen Jialan, the eldest granddaughter of the Grand Scholar's family, is engaged to Lin Jinqi, the eldest grandson of the Minister of Personnel. But when political winds shift, her grandfather is falsely accused of treason, and the Shen family is massacred. To protect itself, the Lin family breaks off the engagement and arranges a new marriage with the newly favored Zhao family.
Xu Wanquan and his wife, servants of the Lin family who had once been helped by Shen Jialan's mother, use their own daughter Xu Lanxiang, who has just died of illness, to secretly replace Jialan. Taking on Lanxiang's identity, Jialan becomes a third-class maid in the Lin household.
In the face of great hardship, Lanxiang refuses to bow to fate. She fights hard for a better life for herself and her family, resisting all injustice and oppression.
In the end, with her kindness and intelligence, Lanxiang breaks free from the bonds of class. She wins not only Lin Jinqi's heart but also the respect and trust of the entire Lin family. She becomes the true head of the Lin household, takes control of her own destiny, and clears the Shen family's name, finally bringing them justice.
