Pointing out that its length, thickness, and texture do not match her own, she deduces it belongs to Jin, linking it to the guest slippers and daisies left in the apartment.
Although Li Yifei tries to explain that the slippers were worn by Qi and that his relationship with Jin is entirely platonic, Qian Fei is hurt by his apparent dishonesty and retreats to her room, refusing to eat the food he prepared. Determined to clear the air, Li Yifei continues to plead his case through her closed door, explaining he was only helping Jin out of a tight spot.
When Qian Fei sarcastically suggests she should thank Jin for the new tableware and congee instead, Li Yifei asks if she is simply jealous. Qian Fei quickly denies this, insisting their connection is strictly professional and transactional. Confused and alarmed, Qian Fei tries to log into her account to prove her innocence, but the system rejects her password. Compounding her troubles, her old phone has already been sold, which Mr. Wu finds incredibly suspicious. Refusing her requests to confront Diansansan directly, Mr. Wu orders her office supplies and computer to be confiscated and demands she leave the premises immediately. Li Yifei returns to find her desk cleared out.
Though he wants to confront Fang Yun, his colleague advises him to go home and speak with Qian Fei first to avoid getting dragged into the mess. At the apartment, Li Yifei finds Qian Fei drowning her sorrows in beer. She tries to put on a brave face, claiming that escaping the corporate backstabbing might be a blessing in disguise.
However, Li Yifei urges her not to give up, pointing out that Fang Yun’s sudden silence and decision to fire her are highly suspicious. He warns her that a blacklisting would end her career in investment banking. Overwhelmed by the betrayal and disappointed by the industry, Qian Fei breaks down. After she gets heavily drunk, Li Yifei carries her to her bedroom. Clinging to his neck, a tearful Qian Fei begs him to stay with her.
Lost in the moment, Li Yifei leans in and kisses her gently. Dang Yu playfully suggests that the man was likely Li Yifei, who had stayed up to care for her, but Qian Fei quickly dismisses the idea. When she hangs up and walks out of her room, she is startled to find Li Yifei standing there with a bowl of congee. Realizing he heard the entire conversation, an embarrassed Qian Fei fiercely warns him to pretend he knows nothing and never bring it up.
Meanwhile, Dang Yu bids a poignant farewell to her partner, Juncheng, at a taxi as he prepares to depart for his new business venture. She urges him to eat well and work hard, promising that they can only get married once he returns successfully. In the company parking lot, Qian Fei corners Fang Yun. She reminds Fang Yun of how much she once revered her as a mentor.
Directly addressing the betrayal, she asks why Fang Yun chose to leak the video and set her up to take the fall. Fang Yun coldly explains that in the corporate world, companies and clients will always sacrifice the less valuable employee to protect their own interests. Though she admits she saw her younger, idealistic self in Qian Fei, Fang Yun warns her that the world is not non-binary, and even good intentions can cause harm.
Qian Fei replies that while she understands the complexities of the world, everyone is still capable of distinguishing right from wrong. She tells Fang Yun that she did not come for a fight, but to find closure. Armed with her own principles, she walks away, ready to face the future without her former idol.
