In 2017, Sun Qianyu joined the girl pop group BEJ48. During her time with BEJ48, her main activities involved theater performances. On February 5, 2024, she left the group to pursue a solo career.

On June 16, 2025, she gained more attention for her role as Yue Yue in the drama Revenged Love.
