He became famous in 1987 when he sang "故乡的云" and "冬天里的一把火" at the Chinese New Year Gala on CCTV. In 1989, he performed 65 concerts in 12 cities in mainland China before bidding farewell to the Chinese pop music scene to pursue musicals and stage productions in New York, starting his new pursuits and challenges.

Main works include Painted Skin: The Resurrection, The Monkey King 2, Creation of The Gods Ⅰ: Kingdom of Storms, etc.
