Adapted from the novel of the same name by Japanese mystery writer Keigo Higashino, the film tells the story of physics professor Tang Chuan and math teacher Shi Hong, who reunite years later due to a murder case involving Shi Hong's neighbor Chen Jing. Forced to stand on opposing sides, they engage in a high-IQ battle that gradually leads to a shocking and heartbreaking conclusion.

Sinopsis
Physics professor Tang Chuan, who works at the Criminal Police College, and middle school math teacher Shi Hong bonded in their youth over a shared passion for mathematics.
Years later, when Tang assists the police in investigating a case, Shi's neighbor Chen Jing becomes a suspect. During the investigation, Tang uncovers a deeper secret, forcing him and Shi to confront each other as adversaries. Their high-IQ duel propels the story toward a shocking and heartbreaking conclusion.
