Yanfei then speculated that Zhen Shishuang must still harbor feelings for Mengfei, suggesting that sending an invitation was his way of gauging her reaction. Mengfei, however, dismissed this idea.
The next day, despite Mengfei's request for secrecy, Noble Lady Xiao and Qu Xiao were also aware of the invitation. Yanfei sheepishly admitted to a momentary slip of the tongue. The three friends discussed the wedding invitation. Just as their discussion became animated, the Emperor arrived unannounced, having instructed his attendants not to inform them. Displeased, the Emperor turned to leave, but at that moment, Zhen Shishuang's wedding invitation fluttered to his feet.
