At the turn of the century, due to the water storage demands of a major hydraulic project, a small riverside city is destined to be submerged. Amid the fervent construction of a new city and the mass relocation of its residents, the summer of 2002 brings torrential rains to Dongjiang.
A bizarre murder case suddenly comes under police scrutiny: a dead lover, a husband who vanishes only to return—both “killer” and “victim.” Through relentless investigation, the police uncover a long-buried past. The complexity of human nature blinds many eyes, yet the truth can never be drowned—wherever the gaze reaches, there is always sunlight.
