Xu Chengyi reassured Xia Yan that the company's situation had calmed down after they caught some paid posters, and the share price was rebounding, which pleased the shareholders. He acknowledged that the true instigator was still at large but advised her not to dwell on it, promising they would continue to investigate slowly. He urged her to get some rest and prepare for Han Shuang's upcoming wedding.

Ma Xiang Nan returned home to find her mother busily cleaning and decorating, explaining that Huo Kai was coming for dinner, marking his first visit since returning. Her mother spoke highly of Huo Kai, mentioning his frequent photo updates from Africa and hinting at a potential romantic pairing. Despite Ma Xiang Nan's casual attire, her mother insisted she change into something more presentable. After preparing a lavish meal, they waited for hours, but Huo Kai didn't arrive.

Ma Xiang Nan's calls and texts went unanswered, prompting her mother to suggest she call him. At the hospital, Huo Kai was being treated by Ma Ke for a badly injured hand after falling down the stairs. When Ma Xiang Nan called, Huo Kai quickly concocted a story about meeting a friend and having an urgent matter come up, promising to apologize to her mother later. He then quickly ended the call.

Ma Xiang Nan relayed the news, disheartening her mother, who was proud of her cooking. Ma Ke, having overheard Huo Kai's phone call and his mention of "Xiang Nan," confirmed it was Dr. Xiang, and Huo Kai asked him not to disclose his broken wrist to her. The next day at work, Ma Xiang Nan overheard nurses discussing Huo Kai's recent fall and broken arm, realizing he had lied.

Back home, her mother, concerned by Huo Kai's repeated injuries, wondered if he had osteoporosis. Since Huo Kai was unreachable and his whereabouts unknown, her mother decided to prepare a calcium-rich bone soup for Ma Xiang Nan to take to him once they found him, urging her to tell him to take calcium supplements and get more sun.

Ma Ke encouraged Huo Kai to visit Ma Xiang Nan, but Huo Kai hesitated, saying he couldn't let her see him in his injured state. He claimed he didn't date and felt safer knowing she usually didn't visit the medical wards. However, he checked his phone, seeing messages from "Xiang Nan." Later, in the hospital corridor, Huo Kai encountered Ma Xiang Nan.

She inquired about his hand, and he assured her it was fine, joking that Ma Ke even said he'd still be able to play guitar. Huo Kai apologized for the previous incident, but Ma Xiang Nan gently chided him for always hiding his troubles from friends, calling it pointless. Huo Kai promised to reach out next time, regardless of the injury, to which Ma Xiang Nan playfully responded that he shouldn't break anything at all.

She then gave him a bottle of calcium tablets, instructing him to take one daily and get more sun. Huo Kai remarked on his boredom from the injury and his intention to get more sun. He then explained that he would be busy writing songs in the coming days, using this as a reason not to visit her and her auntie.

Ma Xiang Nan understood, wished him luck with his songwriting, and they respectfully parted ways, acknowledging their mutual feelings but also the current impossibility of a deeper connection. Ma Ke and Han Shuang, who were living together, were startled awake when Ma Ke's mother unexpectedly entered their messy room one morning. Han Shuang quickly excused herself to get dressed.

Ma Ke's mother immediately confronted him, emphasizing his responsibility as a man towards Han Shuang, warning him against "seducing and abandoning" her. Ma Ke calmly revealed that their relationship was not ambiguous; they had already obtained a marriage license. His mother was utterly shocked, especially since neither had met the other's parents. When Han Shuang emerged, looking radiant and presentable, Ma Ke's mother's demeanor completely shifted.

She was instantly charmed by Han Shuang, praising her beauty and even suggesting she call her "Mom." She then insisted on planning a grand and proper wedding for them, much to Han Shuang's surprise and delight. After his mother left, Han Shuang and Ma Ke discussed the sudden turn of events. Han Shuang admitted she couldn't refuse Ma Ke's mother's enthusiastic offer for a wedding. She then pondered how to approach her own mother about the marriage.

Ma Xiang Nan’s mother expressed her approval of Huo Kai, believing he and Ma Xiang Nan would be a good match despite his restless nature. She had even considered playing matchmaker, seeing their contrasting personalities as complementary. However, she admitted he might not be ready for a stable relationship. She mentioned that Huo Kai's continued communication with her, even praising her cooking, made her think he liked Ma Xiang Nan.

Her mother then revealed she had canceled a planned vacation to Hainan with her dance group because Huo Kai had mentioned he was returning. Ma Xiang Nan encouraged her to go on the trip, but her mother worried about who would cook for her, prompting Ma Xiang Nan to suggest eating at the cafeteria. Her mother insisted that Ma Xiang Nan learn to cook at least simple dishes for herself.

Han Shuang went to her mother, Han Mingzhu's, office to inform her of her marriage, offering to send an invitation. Han Mingzhu was stunned, initially suspecting a marriage to a rich heir from a beauty empire, but Han Shuang clarified her husband was Ma Ke, a respectable orthopedic doctor. Han Mingzhu expressed deep disappointment at being kept in the dark, chastising Han Shuang for treating marriage so carelessly and lacking responsibility.

Han Shuang countered that her mother was judging her unfairly, based on past relationships she dismissed as mere friendships, and insisted her marriage to Ma Ke was based on genuine love, not impulse. Han Mingzhu, unconvinced, then demanded a prenuptial agreement, citing its necessity for a peaceful marriage and reminding Han Shuang that the vast Hualan Group would eventually be hers. Han Shuang was dismayed, accusing her mother of prioritizing the company over her daughter's happiness.

She flatly refused to sign any agreement, stating that neither she nor Ma Ke cared about the group's assets, and declared that her mother should not attend the wedding as it had nothing to do with her. Han Mingzhu was deeply hurt, feeling excluded and disregarded, especially knowing Ma Ke's family would be present.

Han Shuang retorted that she had come to arrange a proper introduction, but her mother's focus on property and contracts had overshadowed any genuine familial concern, contrasting her with Ma Ke's mother, who had been "extremely kind" upon their first meeting. Han Mingzhu, visibly angered, retorted that Han Shuang had not only found a husband but also a "new mother," and that from then on, Han Shuang's marital affairs would be of no concern to her.

Han Shuang was saddened by her mother's harsh words, but reiterated that those were her mother's own declarations. Zhao Xiaojun was staking out a hotel where President Kang was staying, hoping to photograph him with his lovers to coerce him into signing a contract. His phone's battery died, so he called Zhao Xiaolei to bring a power bank.

Upon arrival, Zhao Xiaolei discovered his scheme, which involved investigating President Kang's ties to Han Mingzhu and his multiple extramarital affairs, hoping to leverage this information. Alarmed, Zhao Xiaolei accused him of blackmail and breaking the law, threatening to tell Lin Hao. Zhao Xiaojun then revealed that Lin Hao himself had instructed him to do this, shocking Zhao Xiaolei, who found it hard to believe her mentor would engage in such tactics.

She expressed her distress, warning him of potential legal consequences and attempting to delete the incriminating photos from his phone. After some back-and-forth, with Zhao Xiaojun contemplating working for a larger company, Zhao Xiaolei eventually persuaded him to return with her. Upon returning home, Zhao Xiaolei found a gift from Xia Yan, containing a letter.

In the letter, Xia Yan expressed sorrow for Zhao Xiaolei's choices and her own past thoughtlessness, but affirmed her support for Zhao Xiaolei's decision to be with Lin Hao, hoping they could remain best friends. Moments later, Lin Hao arrived, furious. He immediately launched into a tirade about Zhao Xiaojun's impending resignation, accusing him of defiance and a bad temper for not following his instructions.

Zhao Xiaolei tried to defend her brother, arguing that the "matter"—referring to the illegal surveillance—shouldn't have been undertaken, and that Zhao Xiaojun was simply reluctant to follow through, not truly intending to resign. Lin Hao dismissed her defense. He then spotted a bridesmaid dress, questioning if Zhao Xiaolei was seeking a new boyfriend.

When Zhao Xiaolei explained it was for Han Shuang's wedding, Lin Hao grew even more enraged, demanding why she was still in contact with "them" (Xia Yan and Han Shuang), reminding her of the harm they had supposedly caused him and his previous command to sever ties.

He vehemently accused both Zhao Xiaolei and Zhao Xiaojun of being ungrateful, stating he had given Zhao Xiaojun a job, taught him everything, and paid him generously, only for both siblings to abandon him when the company faced difficulties. He felt betrayed, claiming he had made enemies to bring Zhao Xiaolei to his side, only for them to "scheme against him." Han Shuang returned to Ma Ke and recounted her intense argument with her mother.

She worried about her mother not attending their wedding. Ma Ke, ever practical, reminded her that they already had their marriage certificate and her mother's attendance was ultimately her choice. Han Shuang admitted she feared feeling embarrassed in front of their friends and relatives if her mother was absent, but Ma Ke said he was more concerned about her own sadness, a feeling she dismissed, claiming she was accustomed to their strained relationship.

Ma Ke proposed they send an invitation as a formality, leaving the decision to attend up to Han Mingzhu. However, when Han Shuang then wondered what they would do if her mother "did" decide to come, Ma Ke, slightly exasperated, declared he wouldn't send the invitation himself, suggesting Han Shuang could do so if she wished.
