Young Blood Episode 14 Recap
> Young Blood Recap
Xue Ying, Wei Yanei, and Chen Gong were inside the noodle soup shop, while Zhao Jian and Yuan Zhongxin watched from the rooftop. Secret agents had arrived to search for Chen Gong. Chen Gong, fearing that Imperial Guards might inform his father, wanted to stay hidden. Xue Ying engaged the secret agents and urged Wei Yanei to take Chen Gong to safety.
However, Wei Yanei insisted that Xue Ying stall for time with the agents while he went to rescue Xue Ying's parents, declaring that friendship was more important than any achievement. Xue Ying applauded his devotion. Meanwhile, the secret agent leader realized their informants, the dancing girls from Xiuxiang House, had been used to mislead them; Wei Yanei had arranged for them to come to the noodle shop, a place Chen Gong would not frequent for entertainment.
The leader ordered his agents to kill everyone if Chen Gong wasn't found. Unexpectedly, Xue Ying's parents were already controlled by the secret agent leader, who threatened Xue Ying's parents' lives, demanding Chen Gong in exchange for their release. He quickly dismissed it as a joke and attacked Xue Ying's father. Surprisingly, Xue Ying's father, who had always appeared cowardly, revealed extraordinary martial arts skills, quickly neutralizing all the secret agents. Wei Yanei was stunned by the display.
Xue Ying's father then noticed Yuan Zhongxin, who had also joined the fight, and was about to attack him, but Xue Ying intervened, stopping him. Yuan Zhongxin noted the difficulty of disposing of bodies in Kaifeng, unlike in Hebei, to which Xue Ying's father suggested burying them with flour outside the city. Xue Ying introduced Yuan Zhongxin, Zhao Jian, and Wei Yanei as his friends to his parents.
His mother expressed her joy that Xue Ying had made so many friends in Kaifeng, a contrast to his solitary time in Hebei. Yuan Zhongxin praised Xue Ying's father's combat skills, prompting Xue Ying to confront his father about his long-held secret. His father explained that he never truly lied, only withheld the truth. He recounted how Xue Ying's mother had four elder brothers who were scouts, all perishing in battle against enemy cavalry.
As a general's personal guard, skilled in assassination, he avenged them by sneaking out of the army, poisoning horses, setting fires, and ambushing the cavalry, ultimately killing their general. On the general's body, he found a birth announcement for his son, born on the same day as Xue Ying.
This profound moment transformed him, leading him to conceal his abilities and live a "cowardly" life, wishing only for Xue Ying to grow up peacefully, far from the dangers of becoming a soldier. Deeply moved, Xue Ying reconciled with his parents. They insisted that Xue Ying leave the city with his friends and offered to take the blame if the bodies of the agents were discovered, urging him to pretend they were not his parents to protect his future.
Wei Yanei assured Xue Ying that having his parents by his side was the most important thing. Xue Ying admitted he still felt a mix of anger and understanding towards his father's actions. Wei Yanei recounted the events to Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian. Zhao Jian confronted Chen Gong, who was restrained, asking why he specifically requested dancing girls from Xiuxiang House, a place he frequented, despite knowing he was being pursued.
Chen Gong complimented her appearance but evaded a direct answer, stating it was "hard to explain" but admitting his familiarity with the place. He confirmed he knew assassins were after him. Zhao Jian clarified that the assassins intended to "capture" him, not kill him, because his crossbow drawing was incomplete. She suspected Chen Gong might have deliberately chosen Xiuxiang House to facilitate his capture.
Acting on her suspicions, Zhao Jian ordered Chen Gong to prepare to move out and locked him in the room to prevent him from overhearing their next discussion. Wei Yanei protested, fearing it would undermine the trust they had painstakingly built with Chen Gong. Zhao Jian reiterated her belief that either Chen Gong or the Imperial Guards were compromised, and the noodle shop was no longer a safe haven.
To investigate her suspicions, Yuan Zhongxin, Zhao Jian, and Wei Yanei devised a plan to expose an internal mole within the Imperial Guards. However, Wei Yanei inadvertently caused a blunder during the operation, allowing the mole to escape. With Chen Gong's predicament known to all in Section 7, Yuan Zhongxin received intelligence from the Old Thief that Lu Guannian had no genuine intention of finding Chen Gong, a fact everyone found unsettling.
Despite Lu Guannian's order for all Mimige personnel to remain within the academy, Yuan Zhongxin decided they must bring Chen Gong inside and conceal him there, especially since Zhao Jian wanted to maintain control over him. After their initial attempts to smuggle Chen Gong into Mimige failed, Zhao Jian revealed the existence of a secret, alternative entrance. She demanded Yuan Zhongxin agree to three conditions, which he accepted.
Zhao Jian then disclosed that this entrance was a "girls' exclusive secret passage" accessible only through the female bathhouse. Wei Yanei enthusiastically volunteered to escort Chen Gong, but his offer was immediately rejected due to his obvious motives. Consequently, Yuan Zhongxin and Chen Gong disguised themselves as women. Zhao Jian guided them through the secret passage and into the bustling female bathhouse.
Their disguise, however, was not flawless; Yuan Zhongxin was recognized as a man by one of the women, causing immediate chaos. Zhao Jian swiftly capitalized on the confusion, seizing the moment to quickly lead Chen Gong back to the safety of Section 7.
