A heartbroken Gu Jinyun spent the night at a nightclub, drowning his sorrows in Tequila shots. He felt like a "mawkish fool," recalling Li Yanshu's words that she no longer liked him and had deemed him "overconfident" when he spoke of their childhood romance and his good looks. Han Junyao accompanied him, trying to console him, but Gu Jinyun was inconsolable, lamenting how the woman he had loved for so many years now loved another man.
He pushed Han Junyao away, asking to be left alone, but she revealed her own pain, confessing that the man she had loved for years also loved Li Yanshu. Gu Jinyun realized she was referring to Gu Chengze, exclaiming in frustration, "What's good about him? Why does he become a favorite of everyone?"
As Li Yanshu and Gu Chengze walked hand in hand, Gu Chengze, beaming, joked that he could now tell his friends that Li Yanshu pursued him, which would give him "much face." Li Yanshu playfully retorted that he, like her, didn't really have any friends. Gu Chengze conceded the point and then suggested they could tell their future children instead. Li Yanshu teased him, asking, "What is wrong with you today? You're so bloated."
Gu Chengze replied that she had "filled his heart," which was why he was "bloated." When she playfully blamed herself, he hinted at the "mistakes" she could make, causing her to press him for clarification until he apologized. Gao Yang returned home, smelling of fireworks, and boasted to his girlfriend about orchestrating Li Yanshu's grand confession to Gu Chengze. He explained that since President Gu Chengze's EQ was "negative," he had to intervene to ensure the couple's success.
He vividly described Li Yanshu's dramatic declaration and his coordination of spotlights, fireworks, and a carousel, creating a "dreamy fairy tale picture." His girlfriend was impressed but then demanded a similar grand gesture for herself, which Gao Yang tried to deflect by pointing out their burning dinner, leading to playful bickering. The next morning, Gu Jinyun woke up naked in bed with Han Junyao, horrified. He accused her of taking advantage of him while he was drunk and heartbroken.

When Gu Chengze offered Li Yanshu a ride to work, she insisted on being discreet, suggesting they enter the office separately to avoid gossip. She knew that as the boss, he would be immune, but she would be "drowned" by rumors. She also asked him to warn Gao Yang, who "can't keep a secret." Gu Chengze, concerned about Gu Jinyun's absence from work, instructed his assistant to find him if he didn't show up by 11 AM.
Li Yanshu also called, inquiring about Gu Jinyun's whereabouts. At lunch, Li Yanshu was worried about Gu Jinyun, noting he hadn't come to work. Gu Chengze, subtly jealous, told her to focus her attention entirely on him, promising to take care of Gu Jinyun's "broken heart and feelings" himself. Li Yanshu teasingly called him "petty," to which he proudly agreed. When Helena caused trouble for Sheng Hong, Gu Chengze deployed his formidable legal team.
Li Yanshu initially suggested he "amuse" Helena to resolve the issue more cheaply, but Gu Chengze, declaring that his "face can only be appreciated by" Li Yanshu, firmly rejected the idea. He warned them of severe consequences, including a substantial compensation claim and a ban on Helena accepting any endorsements until the case concluded, if they insisted on unilateral termination. He advised Mr. Liu to inform Helena of the low probability of winning against Sheng Hong's esteemed legal team and the potential repercussions. Helena's lawyer eventually relented, agreeing that Helena would fulfill her contract if Sheng Hong guaranteed no recurrence of previous issues.
After seeing a sweet photo of Li Yanshu and Gu Chengze, Gu Taitai decided to find suitable girls for Gu Jinyun. When she brought up his grandfather and suggested a vacation abroad, Gu Jinyun, seeing through her plan to keep him away from Li Yanshu, called it "restraining." Han Junyao, exasperated by her outdated information, revealed that she was the one who invited Gu Jinyun to a past birthday party, not Li Yanshu, and scoffed at the idea of "stealing Yanshu's boyfriend," urging Gu Taitai to figure out who her daughter's "actual" boyfriend was. Gu Taitai retorted that she only bothered asking due to her concern for Li Yanshu. Despite Gu Chengze's repeated calls to Gu Jinyun, his phone went unanswered.
Just as Gu Chengze prepared to send someone to search for him, he discovered Gu Jinyun leisurely sitting in his office. Gu Jinyun sarcastically asked if the endless calls were a "show of force," to which Gu Chengze stated he was worried. Gu Jinyun taunted him, asking if he was afraid he would "kill himself," then laughed, saying he "can't bear to die."
Gu Chengze suggested he take a vacation to clear his head, but Gu Jinyun angrily recognized this as a tactic, similar to his grandmother's, to keep him away from Li Yanshu. Gu Chengze then provoked him, saying he knew Gu Jinyun was "an arrogant man" who wouldn't "waste his time on a woman," to which Gu Jinyun cryptically replied, "This is hard to say."
He then announced he was going to talk to Li Yanshu, who had called him many times and was "really worried." In Li Yanshu's office, she expressed concern for Gu Jinyun, stating that both she and Gu Chengze were worried due to his unresponsiveness. Gu Jinyun scoffed, accusing them of coordinating their "lines" and lacking creativity. He then demanded to speak to Li Yanshu alone and locked Gu Chengze out of the office.
Gu Chengze furiously demanded he stop "messing around" and "testing his patience." When the commotion outside suddenly ceased, Gu Jinyun, surprised by the silence, was shocked when Gu Chengze violently kicked the door open. Gu Jinyun mocked Gu Chengze for disregarding his image at the company, pointing out that everyone knew Li Yanshu was his ex-girlfriend and he was trying to win her back.
He warned Gu Chengze that people would gossip about the "heir of Sheng Hong Corporation's girlfriend" being "stolen away by the President." Gu Chengze retorted by asserting his power and superior image within Sheng Hong, then provocatively cited an old saying about not letting "water full of nutrient flow into other people's farm," implying Li Yanshu was now his.
