The Four Episode 39 Recap
> The Four Recap
An Shigeng dispatched a group of dead soldiers to secretly transport kerosene. Wu Qing and Leng Xue tracked the kerosene's whereabouts to a city gate. There, a notorious bandit, Huang Yitian, attempted to enter the city with a carriage containing kerosene, falsely claiming it was wine for King Xiang. The suspicious guards demanded to search the barrels, but Ji Yaohua intervened and ordered them to let Huang Yitian pass.
Her deliberate action of allowing An Shigeng's kerosene transporters to proceed, along with her subsequent visits to Leng Xue and Chu Limo, made Zhuge Zhengwo suspect her loyalty, leading him to order the Four Great Constables to monitor her every move. Huang Yitian continued towards Prince An's Mansion. Wu Qing and Leng Xue intercepted him on the road. The carriage was laden with kerosene, exposing Huang Yitian's crime, and he poisoned himself to death on the spot.
Leng Xue returned home to discover Chu Limo had been captured by An Shigeng. Leng Xue tracked An Shigeng, who had also kidnapped Ji Yaohua. An Shigeng forced Leng Xue to choose which of the two women to rescue. Leng Xue stated he would not save Ji Yaohua, citing her betrayal of Shenhou Mansion and expressing a hope for her to repent. However, Ji Yaohua remained unyielding.
Chu Limo pleaded with Leng Xue to save Ji Yaohua, mentioning a debt of gratitude she owed Ji Yaohua, and Ji Yaohua's grave illness and limited time. Despite this, Leng Xue firmly chose to rescue Chu Limo. This decision completely shattered Ji Yaohua's hope, allowing An Shigeng to take her back to his mansion.
Ji Yaohua decided to sever her ties with Leng Xue, and An Shigeng, feigning concern, continued to manipulate her, further fueling her hatred for Leng Xue and Shenhou Mansion. Zhuge Zhengwo attempted to inform King Xiang about An Shigeng's malicious schemes and his illegal kerosene transport, but King Xiang initially avoided him. Zhuge Zhengwo then presented an imperial gold token to gain an audience.
Though initially skeptical of Zhuge Zhengwo's accusations against An Shigeng, King Xiang was persuaded when Zhuge Zhengwo personally guaranteed he would accept severe punishment if his claims were false. King Xiang ultimately decided to dispatch Zhuge Zhengwo to search Prince An's Mansion and personally led imperial guards to accompany him. At Prince An's Mansion, Zhuge Zhengwo requested a search, but An Shigeng refused, leading to a dispute with King Xiang.
Enraged, An Shigeng summoned a legion of dead soldiers he had trained. These dead soldiers proved to be incredibly powerful and seemingly invulnerable, causing numerous casualties among the imperial guards. Seeing the dire situation, Zhuge Zhengwo personally intervened, striking acupoints on all the dead soldiers, causing them to fall and die. Perceiving the tide had turned, Yu Chuntong promptly defected to King Xiang, testifying against An Shigeng and revealing the hidden location of the kerosene.
In a fit of rage, An Shigeng used a poison needle to kill Yu Chuntong before making a swift escape from Prince An's Mansion. Before his death, Yu Chuntong had successfully revealed the location where An Shigeng had hidden the kerosene. After An Shigeng's escape, Shenhou Mansion's plan to thwart An Shigeng's scheme to illegally store kerosene was successful. King Xiang subsequently reinstated Zhuge Zhengwo as the head of Shenhou Mansion.
Separately, Ling Yiyi, feeling inferior due to her identity as a "poison girl," expressed her desire to leave Tie Shou. In response, Tie Shou urgently confessed his deep longing for her. Comforted by his words, Ling Yiyi then recounted her experience of being held captive by Yuan Buxie. Later, King Xiang summoned Leng Xue to the palace, where Princess Ziluo, who held a deep affection for Leng Xue, was present. King Xiang pressed Leng Xue to marry Princess Ziluo, but Leng Xue remained silent under the pressure, giving no clear answer.
