Nu Nu, a wolf clan woman, arrived penniless in the capital. Forced to use her strength to get food and treatment for her leg injury, she acquired food and medical care from a bun seller and a pharmacy. The famous trappers investigated the stolen jade seal case. At the palace, Zhui Ming found a bottle of strange fragrance near a tree. This fragrance, made from the blood of 49 young women, caused hallucinations of beautiful women.
Zhui Ming succumbed to the fragrance until a colleague subdued him. They discovered the victims of the jade seal theft had all inhaled the same fragrance before being killed. The famous trappers deduce the fragrance could only be made by the Wen family, and suspect Yu Chuntong is colluding with Wen Ruyu. They speculate about their motive for stealing the jade seal.
An Shigeng, grieving the loss of his beloved Diewu, whom he remembered as a talented singer and dancer, became obsessed with Ru Yan, who resembled her. An Shigeng sent people to propose marriage to Ru Yan, but her parents refused. He persisted until Ru Yan, to protect her family, reluctantly broke off her relationship with Wu Qing and married An Shigeng. Despite her resemblance to Diewu, An Shigeng was always aware that Ru Yan was not Diewu, and remained troubled.
Nu Nu, in a street altercation, was rescued by Leng Xue. She showed him a jade pendant she found after the wolf clan's massacre, implicating the perpetrator. She also admits she assassinated Zhu Wangye, whom she identifies as the wolf clan's killer. Leng Xue presented the jade pendant to Zhuge, who cautioned him against jumping to conclusions, reminding him that Zhu Wangye had saved him. Nu Nu attempted to kill Leng Xue's foster father, but Leng Xue stopped her.
She accused him of protecting his foster father and abandoning his clan's revenge. Leng Xue tried to reason with her, urging her not to act rashly, but she accused him of betraying his people. Meanwhile, Chu Li Mo discovered Yu Chuntong was the one who caused Leng Xue's wolf poison to flare up. An Shigeng obtained the jade seal, bringing him closer to avenging a great wrong.
Tie Shou, while tracking Wen Ruyu, was delayed by Yi Yi and lost Wen Ruyu. Yi Yi, upset at being disliked by Tie Shou, took her frustration out on a tree. Wen Ruyu, seeing her potential, decided to take her as a disciple to prepare for future events. Yi Yi, wishing to not disappoint Tie Shou, gladly accepted.
