As they were deciding where to celebrate, a drunken man appeared at the school gate, recognizing Ming Yuan and demanding she account for hitting him previously, threatening to report her to the school. To protect Ming Yuan, An Chuxia stepped forward, claiming she was the one who hit him at the KTV.
The drunken man, unsure due to his intoxication at the time, doubted An Chuxia was the culprit but insisted the responsible party face the school director. An Chuxia declared she would go to the director herself. An Chuxia admitted to Director Long that she injured the drunken man and took full responsibility. Director Long stated that Sheng De College would not tolerate such behavior, and expulsion would be the consequence if the claims were verified.
He assured her of a thorough investigation to uncover the truth. Overcome with guilt, Ming Yuan tried to confess to the board of directors, but Han Qilu stopped her, stating he would not allow her sacrifice since Chuxia was protecting her. He promised Ming Yuan he had a plan. Later, An Chuxia tried to talk to Ming Yuan about the situation, but Han Qilu stopped her, explaining he had promised Ming Yuan to keep her secret.
He then reassured An Chuxia that he would resolve the situation. Han Qilu instructed his butler to investigate Ming Yuan, learning that she came from a poor background, her parents having died early, and she was raised by low-income relatives. She attended Sheng De through scholarships and part-time work, fearing discrimination for her financial situation.
The butler also confirmed the drunken man refused reconciliation and insisted on the expulsion of the student who hit him, and that the KTV wouldn't provide surveillance footage or witnesses. Han Qilu called Li Shendong for assistance. Meanwhile, An Chuxia decided to take revenge on the drunken man, disguising herself as a glamorous woman named Xiao Hong, accompanied by Ming Yuan, and went to the bar he frequented.
While An Chuxia distracted the drunken man, Han Qilu and Li Shendong infiltrated the bar’s surveillance room. Despite initially complaining, Li Shendong helped An Chuxia. As Han Qilu worked to download the footage, a security guard approached, and Li Shendong created a diversion, allowing Han Qilu to copy a video of the drunken man harassing women. Simultaneously, An Chuxia noticed the drunken man trying to drug her drink and exposed him, leading to his apprehension by other patrons.
An Chuxia spoke with Ming Yuan, who confessed that the drunken man had verbally and physically accosted her at the KTV, leading her to hit him with an ashtray in fear. Ming Yuan revealed her struggles to fit in at Sheng De due to her poverty. An Chuxia shared that she also came from humble beginnings in Cat's Ears Alley, strengthening their bond. Li Shendong joked with Han Qilu before leaving.
Han Qilu presented the video evidence to Director Long, explaining An Chuxia's intentions in protecting her friend. Director Long, while understanding An Chuxia’s motive, disapproved of her impulsive actions. Han Qilu then publicly declared An Chuxia was not just his girlfriend but his fiancée, live-streamed to the school. He pleaded that the school not punish her, emphasizing Sheng De should nurture students with kindness and responsibility. Moved by Han Qilu's humility, An Chuxia rushed into the Director’s office.
Knowing the broadcast was still active, Han Qilu knelt before An Chuxia and asked her to start anew. As students cheered for her acceptance, Li Shendong interrupted the live stream and challenged Han Qilu to a duel for the right to pursue An Chuxia. They agreed to a fencing match, with a single point determining the victor. Li Shendong surprisingly defeated Han Qilu in the fencing match. Li Shendong and his friends celebrated, but Han Qilu comforted An Chuxia.
An Chuxia later suspected Han Qilu faked his loss because he was a former city fencing champion, which Han Qilu subtly acknowledged. During Li Shendong's celebration, one of his friends revealed they had sabotaged Han Qilu's fencing suit sensor, causing Li Shendong's unearned victory. Li Shendong, valuing dignity over winning An Chuxia dishonestly, decided to confess to Han Qilu. Li Shendong confessed to Han Qilu, who already knew about the sabotaged sensor and respected Li Shendong for it.
Li Shendong, accepting his defeat, declared he would no longer pursue An Chuxia. He returned An Chuxia’s engagement ring, explaining he had found it when they first met, kept it because he found it beautiful, and had intended to give it to her if she ever became his girlfriend. Now, he returned the ring and metaphorically, returned her to Han Qilu. He told An Chuxia to be happy and promised she could return to him if Han Qilu mistreated her. As he walked away, he hoped she would one day want to be his girlfriend.
