After recovering from a serious illness, Xiang Derong (Dorothy Hale) is finally ready to leave the hospital, expecting a peaceful discharge accompanied by her granddaughter, Huo Jiaqi (Julie Hale). Instead, they are confronted by Fang Yingxue — the longtime “white moonlight” in her son’s heart — and Fang Yingxue’s daughter, Shen Qiaoqiao. Burdened by the massive debts left behind by her ex-husband, Fang Yingxue is determined to use her daughter to marry into a wealthy family and secure a life of luxury.
Arriving at the hospital to curry favor with her future mother-in-law, the two women fail to recognize Xiang Derong and Huo Jiaqi. Mistaking them for ordinary people, they mock, humiliate, and bully them without restraint. But when the truth is finally revealed and Fang Yingxue realizes that Xiang Derong is the very future mother-in-law she has been trying so hard to please, regret comes too late.
