The series is an adaptation of Priest's suspense novel Silent Reading. Set in the year 253 of the New Yuan civilization, the drama follows Luo Weizhao, an investigator from the special task force, and his intern Pei Su, as they investigate "Apaths." After analyzing multiple cases, they uncover clues and ultimately bring these criminal forces to justice.

Sinopse
In the 253rd year of the New Yuan civilization, the rising crime rate's connection to Apaths is becoming a topic of increasing public attention. A delivery worker's murder unravels a criminal syndicate, and the true culprit is identified as an Apath, sparking widespread social discussion. Although the case is smoothly concluded, Luo Weizhao, an investigator from the special task force responsible for the case, realizes that nothing is as simple as it seems.
Subsequently, cases of missing persons, a wealthy man's car accident, and a murdered university student all lead to Apaths being brought into the public eye. Luo Weizhao realizes that beyond these identified culprits, his intern, Pei Su, also seems to be involved, and someone else is pulling strings behind these cases. Ultimately, these criminal forces are apprehended, and the public comes to understand that genes do not determine a person's superiority, inferiority, or morality. People can overcome their genes and choose freely. As long as there is a glimmer of hope, even in darkness, one will eventually return to the light.
