Su Yunjin approached Cheng Zheng, asking about the results of his recent medical check-up. However, Cheng Zheng responded coldly, dismissing her concern as mere pretense. Su Yunjin tried to explain that she had to attend a crucial work meeting that day, and her presence at a celebration banquet the previous day was because he had planned to dine with Zhang Yue after his own check-up.

She admitted to drinking "a little" because everyone was happy, but assured him that Mr. Xu had promised she wouldn't be asked to drink again, and she would be more careful in the future. Cheng Zheng remained unmoved, questioning her sincerity by pointing out her absence during his hospital re-examination, sarcastically asking if he should have regular surgeries for her to show concern. As Su Yunjin attempted to resume work, he angrily confronted her, accusing her of prioritizing her job.

He recounted how he had rushed home with her favorite hairy crabs, having barely eaten himself, only to find himself locked out and unable to reach her. He angrily revealed that Xu Zhiheng had answered her phone when he called earlier, and more infuriatingly, Xu hadn't informed Su Yunjin about Cheng Zheng's predicament (being locked out and having no keys), nor did Su Yunjin answer his subsequent numerous calls.

Enraged, he demanded to know whether he or her work was more important, then ripped up her work documents. Su Yunjin pleaded for them to communicate calmly, asking him to try to understand her, but he retorted, asking if she ever tried to understand him. The argument escalated, and Cheng Zheng stormed off to his room. The next morning, Su Yunjin left a prepared breakfast for Cheng Zheng and went to work early.

They both decided to return to their respective homes for the weekend. When Su Yunjin arrived at her family home, her mother and Uncle Ding were there to greet her. Her mother immediately noticed Cheng Zheng’s absence, asking why he wasn't with her. Su Yunjin, forcing a smile, claimed Cheng Zheng was too busy to come. Later, her mother explicitly asked if she and Cheng Zheng had quarreled, but Su Yunjin quickly denied it.

Soon after, Meng Xue called Su Yunjin, inviting her to a high school reunion in Shanghai. Meng Xue mentioned that Cheng Zheng had instructed her to call Su Yunjin directly, which made Meng Xue wonder if something was amiss between the couple. Su Yunjin dismissed it as just Cheng Zheng's usual temperament. At the class reunion, Su Yunjin and Cheng Zheng arrived but remained distant, their strained interaction quickly noticed by Meng Xue.

Meanwhile, Shen Juan was preparing to move out of Zhang Yue’s apartment, intending to return to his hometown for a period of reflection. Zhang Yue expressed her curiosity, wondering how things might have turned out if he had stayed with Su Yunjin, and what kind of woman he would pursue in the future.

Shen Juan calmly stated that he would not seek a relationship for a long time, as he needed to reassess his true desires, acknowledging he had lived his life too fiercely. Zhang Yue appreciated their peaceful separation, contrasting it with others who resorted to arguments and fights. She then openly confessed her deeper affection for him, admitting she didn't deserve his love and calling herself "not a good person." As he left, he returned her house keys.

Once Shen Juan was completely gone, Zhang Yue broke down in tears, unable to contain her sorrow. Back at the reunion, Cheng Zheng began drinking heavily, ignoring Su Yunjin’s warnings about his recent surgery. Zhou Ziyi called Mo Yuhua, informing her of Cheng Zheng's reckless drinking. Mo Yuhua then called Su Yunjin, who confessed that her busy work schedule had prevented her from accompanying him, leading to a "little conflict."

Mo Yuhua, suggesting that men mature slowly, advised Su Yunjin to "grab the chance to let him save face." As Cheng Zheng became more intoxicated, he provocatively put his arm around Meng Xue, asking Su Yunjin why she disliked his actions when she herself had been out drinking. Witnessing Cheng Zheng’s deliberately provoking behavior, Su Yunjin decided to leave the reunion, entrusting Cheng Zheng's care to Zhou Ziyi and reminding everyone not to let him drink more.

After she left, Cheng Zheng released Meng Xue and slumped into a chair. Meng Xue, her face pale and eyes welling up, walked over and slapped Cheng Zheng, declaring that she was a person, "not a tool" to be used as a "bargaining chip" in his relationship. She expressed her disappointment, telling him he was "childish," before rushing out in tears. Song Ming followed, comforting her and confessing his own long-held affection for her.

Later that night, a visibly drunk Cheng Zheng stumbled home. Su Yunjin urged him to take better care of his health, but he was still consumed by anger. He accused her of being childish for expecting his actions at the party to provoke jealousy, saying she was "unmoved" and too "cold and calm." He bitterly stated that she considered everyone else's feelings—Meng Xue's, clients', Shen Juan's, and Xu Zhiheng's—but never his.

Su Yunjin, feeling helpless, responded that she had nothing more to say if that was his perception. Cheng Zheng then tearfully expressed his belief that she never truly loved him, viewing their relationship as his "solo show" and himself as merely a "choice that you can do without." He declared he was "tired." Su Yunjin, maintaining her composure, told him she would respect any decision he made, as he was no longer a child.

Convinced that her feelings hadn't changed, Cheng Zheng decisively ended their relationship, stating, "It was me who didn't want you anymore." With red eyes, Su Yunjin quietly agreed, asking him to "let go" of her. After the painful breakup, Su Yunjin quickly packed her belongings, left the house key, and departed Cheng Zheng's apartment for good. Cheng Zheng sat alone in the empty apartment, weeping inconsolably before calling Zhou Ziyi.

When Zhou Ziyi arrived, he chastised Cheng Zheng for his impulsive decision, reminding him of all the effort he had put into winning Su Yunjin's heart and how she had cared for him by doing chores like cooking and washing. Cheng Zheng retorted that he desired "exchanging of emotions," not just practical care.

Realizing that Su Yunjin had nowhere to go in the middle of the night, Zhou Ziyi speculated she might be at the office and urged Cheng Zheng to go find her. Indeed, Su Yunjin had gone to her company, where she encountered Xu Zhiheng, who was also working late.

Xu Zhiheng shared that he often stayed at the office because his wife no longer cared about his whereabouts, their love having "worn out a long time ago," leaving them living like "roommates." He noted that despite their lack of affection, his wife surprisingly remained interested in his personal love life.
