Never Gone Episode 30 Recap
> Never Gone Recap
Su Yunjin prepared breakfast for Cheng Zheng, who was delighted by the gesture. As they planned their meals for the day, Cheng Zheng volunteered to make soup and shop for groceries. Su Yunjin suggested he buy the groceries and she would cook lunch, but Cheng Zheng clarified that if he bought, he would also be making the soup.
Their morning was interrupted by a phone call from Cheng Zheng's mother, who had heard he was in a relationship and was very happy for him, expressing a desire to visit. Cheng Zheng seemed hesitant, but Su Yunjin encouraged her to come, and they began tidying up the apartment.
Su Yunjin felt anxious, worrying about his mother's impression of her living with him, but Cheng Zheng assured her it would be fine, reminding her that he had insisted she stay, and they maintained separate rooms. Cheng Zheng's mother soon arrived, recognizing Su Yunjin from high school and immediately taking a liking to her. She brought fruits as a gift for Su Yunjin and praised her for tidying up, telling her not to spoil Cheng Zheng or overwork herself.
She even offered to come weekly to clean, an offer Cheng Zheng swiftly deflected by mentioning their professional cleaner and later subtly hinting that he and Su Yunjin had important work scheduled for the afternoon, prompting his mother to understand and leave. Before leaving, Cheng Zheng's mother tried to give Su Yunjin a red packet, expressing her sincere blessing for their relationship, but Su Yunjin politely declined it.
Cheng Zheng, however, insisted she accept it, explaining it was his mother's goodwill and would make them both happy, reminiscing about his own childhood antics to get red packets. Su Yunjin eventually accepted the gift. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Mo Yuhua was caring for Zhou Ziyi when Jin Zi contacted her, asking her to meet. Zhou Ziyi, overhearing, playfully teased Mo Yuhua about Jin Zi finally being direct and suggested they were a good match professionally.
Mo Yuhua downplayed the invitation, but Zhou Ziyi, noticing she was wearing a necklace he had given her, advised her not to wear it on the date, promising to tell Jin Zi it was merely a "friendship necklace."
After Mo Yuhua left, Zhou Ziyi secretly called Jin Zi, giving him detailed advice on how to express his feelings to Mo Yuhua: be emotional, tell her he missed her to the point of sleepless nights, and declare that no other woman held any appeal for him. He stressed the importance of being direct and showing conviction, implying that Jin Zi should convey he would be devastated by a rejection. Jin Zi and Mo Yuhua met at a restaurant.
After some hesitation, Jin Zi confessed his feelings, saying, "I like you." Mo Yuhua calmly admitted she had anticipated his confession, and although she had considered not coming, she felt it was important for feelings to be spoken aloud. She thanked Jin Zi, confirming she already sensed his affection, and affirmed that they could remain friends. When Jin Zi asked if there was still a possibility for them, Mo Yuhua expressed uncertainty.
She then revealed her plan to study abroad in Dublin, seeking a completely new city and environment for a fresh start. Jin Zi, asking if her decision was influenced by Zhou Ziyi, received a nuanced reply that it was both because of him and for a fresh start. Jin Zi expressed his support, promising to wait for her. Later, Cheng Zheng's parents hosted a dinner for Su Yunjin's mother and Uncle Ding, celebrating the couple's relationship.
The atmosphere was warm and harmonious. Cheng Zheng's mother praised Su Yunjin for bringing positive changes to Cheng Zheng, making him more reliable. Both Cheng Zheng and Su Yunjin toasted their parents, thanking them for their upbringing and acceptance, vowing to cherish their relationship. Su Yunjin's mother also gave a red packet to Cheng Zheng, who, unlike Su Yunjin earlier, quickly accepted it. The parents exchanged pleasantries, discussing future visits and home-cooked meals.
Separately, Su Yunjin was summoned to Xu Zhiheng's office, where he introduced her to Chuck. Xu Zhiheng commended Su Yunjin's contributions, stating her prepared materials were crucial in securing Chuck for MD Network, giving her full credit. He invited her to a celebratory lunch, but Su Yunjin declined, citing a prior appointment. Chuck expressed his eagerness to collaborate with her.
Later that day, Su Yunjin, who had been feeling unwell earlier, received a text from Shen Juan requesting a meeting for the next day, which surprised her. The next day, she met Shen Juan at a café. He congratulated her on her relationship with Cheng Zheng.
Shen Juan then explained he needed her help with a complex, time-sensitive project at Hengkai that was stalled due to lack of manpower, a project crucial for his standing in the company, though considered an "alternative" by Hengkai. Su Yunjin agreed to help only after confirming that the project had no conflict of interest with MD Network and did not violate Hengkai's internal policies.
She then gave him 20,000 RMB, a partial repayment of her debt, mentioning her mother's recent good health check-up. Shen Juan offered to consider the money as payment for her assistance, but Su Yunjin refused, stating she wasn't doing freelance work but repaying a past favor.
As she left, Shen Juan advised her not to be "too strong" in her relationship with Cheng Zheng, highlighting Cheng Zheng's background as a "rich kid," though Su Yunjin asserted her confidence in her understanding of Cheng Zheng. Back home, Su Yunjin prepared dinner for Cheng Zheng, noticing the exorbitant prices of groceries he had bought from an imported supermarket, a mistake he attributed to misreading the decimal point.
She offered to accompany him grocery shopping next time to prevent him from being overcharged. After cooking, Su Yunjin resumed working on her laptop while Cheng Zheng, out of boredom, started playing games. She then confessed to Cheng Zheng that she had agreed to help Shen Juan with a project. Cheng Zheng reacted with anger, expressing his disapproval of her associating with Shen Juan.
Su Yunjin apologized for not consulting him first, explaining it was an urgent request and an opportunity to repay a past kindness, assuring him it had no conflict of interest. Cheng Zheng, though still upset, conceded, but warned her that this was the last time she was to contact Shen Juan, stating he was "jealous" rather than angry. Su Yunjin placated him with a kiss, which he jokingly called "realistic" but accepted.
He then left for Zhang Yue's house, forgetting his phone. At Zhang Yue's house, Shen Juan was already there. Zhang Yue, expecting Cheng Zheng, assumed he was throwing a tantrum after an argument with Su Yunjin. Cheng Zheng arrived and immediately confronted Shen Juan, demanding that he stop privately seeking Su Yunjin's help. He pointed out that Hengkai was large enough not to need the assistance of a "little girl who hasn't even graduated."
Zhang Yue questioned Shen Juan, who apologized for not informing Cheng Zheng, explaining his project team was short-staffed and Su Yunjin's familiarity with the case made her a suitable choice. He reiterated that it was a small, recent project and would not happen again. Cheng Zheng reinforced that Su Yunjin considered this assistance a repayment of a past favor and that this was the final instance of their contact.
He further implied that Zhang Yue, too, should be concerned about Shen Juan's private interactions with Su Yunjin, warning Shen Juan to "be careful." Cheng Zheng then left, declining to stay. Zhang Yue, after Cheng Zheng's departure, told Shen Juan she was not like Cheng Zheng and would not be jealous of Su Yunjin.
