Negotiator Episode 12 Recap
> Negotiator Recap
At Ke Wan, Yang Xiao and Zhao Chenxi were discussing the second round of negotiations, expressing their frustration with Xie Xiaofei's unconventional approach. During their conversation, Song Haojie entered their office, appearing gleeful. He informed them that if the third round of negotiations also failed to yield a clear intention for cooperation, their father would proceed with the San Ya resort project, which was with Song Haojie's client.
Zhao Chenxi retorted that Song Haojie seemed impatient, but he insisted he was only worried about her efforts being in vain. After Song Haojie left, Yang Xiao criticized him for trying to steal business from his own family. Zhao Chenxi apologized to Yang Xiao for bringing him back from overseas for such a difficult case.
Yang Xiao reassured her, saying it was his choice, and questioned her motives for returning to the family business instead of pursuing her own career abroad. Zhao Chenxi confessed that her return was about more than just money, and that many things were "not that easy." Yang Xiao promised to support her.
Later, Zhao Chenxi called Luo Bin and asked him to invite Xie Xiaofei for a drink, expecting Xie Xiaofei to understand that she was the one behind the invitation. Meanwhile, Xie Xiaofei arranged a private movie screening, reserving an entire theater for a date with Tong Wei. He was excited about the romantic gesture, but Tong Wei remained preoccupied with work. Despite her reluctance, Xie Xiaofei convinced her to sit down with him.
However, due to her exhaustion, Tong Wei fell asleep on Xie Xiaofei's shoulder during the film, sleeping for over an hour. When the movie ended, Tong Wei joked that he should find someone else to watch movies with next time. As Xie Xiaofei drove Tong Wei home, he received a call from Luo Bin inviting him out.
Xie Xiaofei was curious why Tong Wei didn't ask to join him, but she had already deduced that Zhao Chenxi had orchestrated the meeting through Luo Bin, likely regarding the recent negotiations. Tong Wei explained that her presence would only make Zhao Chenxi more guarded, making it more effective for Xie Xiaofei to go alone. She asked him to share any pertinent information afterward, and he promised to tell her everything.
After dropping Tong Wei off, she looked forward to having some free time. That same evening, Xia Shanshan's new boss brought her along to entertain a Japanese client, Mr. Yamada, with Qi Ruhai also present as a partner. Mr. Yamada became inebriated and began to harass Xia Shanshan. Frightened, she fled the private room, only to stumble upon Xie Xiaofei and Zhao Chenxi sitting intimately together. Xie Xiaofei, witnessing Xia Shanshan's distress, immediately rushed to her aid.
He confronted the client, firmly telling him to respect women and leave. After ensuring Xia Shanshan was alright, Xie Xiaofei attempted to explain his situation to her, but she was too upset by what she had seen and ran off. Xie Xiaofei then swiftly left the venue, choosing not to linger with Zhao Chenxi, who complained that he wasn't being a gentleman by not taking her home.
He reminded her that they were negotiation opponents and being too close was inappropriate. Feeling uneasy about Xia Shanshan's misunderstanding, Xie Xiaofei called Tong Wei to explain. Tong Wei answered playfully, teasing him about drinking with pretty girls.
Xie Xiaofei asked if Xia Shanshan had told her anything, but Tong Wei said no. He then confessed that a pretty girl had tried to flirt with him, but he had managed to avoid it, jokingly asking for a reward from his "girlfriend." Tong Wei, however, playfully accused him of hiding something and, feigning sleepiness, ended the call.
After they hung up, Xie Xiaofei left Tong Wei a voice message, informing her about the project's progress and promising more details the next day, ending with an "I love you." Meanwhile, Xia Shanshan waited outside Qi Ruhai's house, confronting him about his inaction when she was being harassed. She tearfully expressed her disappointment, feeling he had pretended not to know her.
Qi Ruhai assured her of his love and that no one could hurt her as long as he was there, but dismissed her fear, pointing out many people were around. Still upset, Xia Shanshan wished he had defended her physically. Qi Ruhai explained that he couldn't act impulsively like a young man, as his business required him to consider consequences. He stated that no woman would want a man without a successful business.
To appease her, he promised to give her a grand wedding after he settled his current affairs. The next morning, as Tong Wei arrived at the office, her colleague Kiki presented her with a large bouquet of "Rose Only" roses, sparking envy from Jiang Ke, who excitedly explained the rarity and significance of the flowers, which are meant for one person in a lifetime. Tong Wei, assuming they were from Xie Xiaofei, was in high spirits.
Her smile, however, faltered when she received a call from Qin Tianyu, who subtly confirmed he was the sender. She politely thanked him but hinted that such gifts were unnecessary. Later, Xia Shanshan met Tong Wei, happily sharing that she and Qi Ruhai had reconciled. Tong Wei, remembering Xie Xiaofei's previous candid analysis of Qi Ruhai, found herself in a dilemma, unsure how to advise Xia Shanshan.
Xia Shanshan once again suggested Qin Tianyu was a suitable partner for Tong Wei, but Tong Wei maintained she didn't like him. Then, recalling the previous night, Xia Shanshan gossiped about seeing Xie Xiaofei hugging another woman. Tong Wei's expression immediately turned cold, and she quickly excused herself, claiming an urgent matter. Later, back at her company, she saw a cheerful Xie Xiaofei chatting with the front desk staff but returned to her office without acknowledging him, her face grim.
Xie Xiaofei, full of enthusiasm, went to Tong Wei's office, but she kept her head down, ignoring him. He noticed the roses on her desk and, upon learning they were a romantic gesture from Qin Tianyu, angrily demanded that Tong Wei discard them, promising to buy her a better bouquet himself. Tong Wei, visibly displeased, refused and left for a meeting without another word to him.
Annoyed by Tong Wei accepting Qin Tianyu's flowers, yet unaware of her jealousy-fueled coldness, Xie Xiaofei was bewildered by her anger. He decided to call Tong Tiantian to get to the bottom of the situation. Tong Tiantian, while praising Qin Tianyu much to Xie Xiaofei's chagrin, agreed to go home and discreetly gather information.
Upon returning home, Tong Tiantian entered Tong Wei's room and, without intending to hide Xie Xiaofei's concerns, mentioned his annoyance about Tong Wei not discarding the roses. Through this conversation, she discovered that Tong Wei's distant behavior stemmed from something else entirely: she was jealous of Xie Xiaofei. Knowing this, Tong Tiantian recounted how she had scolded Xie Xiaofei earlier, which made Tong Wei laugh, though she couldn't help but speak favorably of him.
Subsequently, Tong Tiantian arranged for Tong Wei to meet Xie Xiaofei, creating an opportunity for him to apologize properly. Together, Tong Tiantian and Xie Xiaofei playfully teased Tong Wei, eventually making her laugh. Separately, Zhao Chenxi met with Qin Tianyu, informing him that she had revealed her true intentions to Xie Xiaofei. Qin Tianyu, though disagreeing with her approach, could do nothing to change it.
Zhao Chenxi then pointedly brought up the unusual relationship between Tong Wei and Xie Xiaofei, a remark that left Qin Tianyu feeling uneasy and forced him to consider their connection more seriously.
