Manager Wang's attitude towards Xia Qian had dramatically shifted overnight. He was apologetic and smiling, stating that their original proposal was perfectly in line with the company's requirements and that they should proceed with it. Xia Qian found his abrupt change inexplicable. Unbeknownst to her, Chen Zixuan approached Sheng Zhening, reminding him of the help he'd received years ago, which was why Huixin Technology still held Sheng Zhening's original shares.

Sheng Zhening dismissed Chen Zixuan's assertion, claiming the one thousand dollars he had given Chen Zixuan was merely living expenses, not an investment. Chen Zixuan insisted the 10% shares were reserved for Sheng Zhening unless his company collapsed, then hinted Sheng Zhening's sudden interest was because of Xia Qian. Sheng Zhening sidestepped the comment, saying he had no time.

Later, when Xia Qian asked Sheng Zhening about Chen Zixuan, Sheng Zhening feigned ignorance, claiming not to know him, and then fabricated a story about Chen Zixuan complimenting his "assistant" skills. The denial of a romantic relationship by Qin Hebo continued to trouble Fu Shuangshuang. Realizing she had fallen in love with him, she sought advice from Mu Xiaoyan, framing the situation as a problem a "friend" was facing.

Mu Xiaoyan advised her not to rush, but to "find an opportunity" and show care when the man least expected it. Following this advice, Fu Shuangshuang began to discreetly express her affection, such as delivering heart-shaped fried eggs to Qin Hebo. Meanwhile, Building No. 2's renovation faced another setback due to a shortage of high-quality eco-friendly paint. The shareholders refused to pay for the expensive materials. Qin Hebo learned of this and decided to cover the costs himself.

His assistant expressed concern that his dedication to renovating Building No. 2 for Sheng Zhening might upset the other shareholders, but Qin Hebo remained focused on the shares. After completing her work for Huixin Technology through her friend Xu Lu, Xia Qian found Xu Lu eager to set her up on a blind date with her cousin, even arranging a meeting time.

Sheng Zhening, overhearing this, displayed an unusually cold attitude towards Xu Lu, refusing to offer her cream and sugar for her coffee and telling her to help herself. Xia Qian understood his jealousy but, out of politeness, did not decline the blind date, intending to clarify the situation with her prospective date. Later, Sheng Zhening interrogated Xia Qian about the date, expressing concern about her drinking at a bar, even though she explained the date was just a meeting.

His jealousy was palpable, though he struggled to openly express it. Ning Meng used her cake shop, located directly across from He Zhijuan's hospital, as a base to constantly interfere with his work. She would bring him meals and flowers daily, showering him with care under the guise of looking after her husband, but in reality, she was monitoring his every move. This created immense pressure for He Zhijuan, leaving him with no outlet to express his frustrations.

When Ning Meng brought a lavish spread of food to his office, his colleague quickly excused herself. He Zhijuan gently suggested Ning Meng didn't need to cook every day, as the hospital food was fine, which Ning Meng misinterpreted as a sign of his displeasure, causing him to quickly reassure her of his appreciation. The appointed blind date arrived, and Xia Qian went to Twilight Bar. Sheng Zhening, consumed by jealousy, followed her and hid nearby.

While at the bar, Xia Qian received a call from Xu Lu, who apologized profusely, explaining her cousin was out of town on a business trip and couldn't make it back that day. Xia Qian was secretly delighted. As she left the bar, a heavy rain began to fall.

Seeing her waiting for a taxi, Sheng Zhening, disguised in a bear costume, came to her rescue, holding an umbrella over her head and offering her candy when she experienced low blood sugar. Fu Shuangshuang, still unwilling to accept a mere brother-sister relationship with Qin Hebo, resumed her pursuit. Qin Hebo, torn by her persistence but determined to be firm, eventually proposed they officially become brother and sister, explicitly stating he would treat her like his younger sister Ning Meng.

This declaration left Fu Shuangshuang disheartened. However, Mu Xiaoyan, upon hearing her "friend's" dilemma, advised her not to be discouraged, suggesting that being a "sister" still offered an opportunity to get closer. That evening, over dinner, Sheng Zhening, unable to contain his curiosity, asked Xia Qian about her blind date. Xia Qian honestly informed him that the date had been postponed until the next day. The following morning, Xia Qian met the blind date, Mr. Lin, at the bar.

They quickly realized there was no romantic spark between them and agreed to be friends. Mr. Lin, who owned the bar, offered her a membership card. Meanwhile, Mu Xiaoyan, who was secretly observing them, misinterpreted their friendly exchange as mutual attraction. He snapped several photos and posted them to the company's employee chat group. Sheng Zhening's jealousy flared. He rushed to the bar, publicly declared Xia Qian his girlfriend, and dragged her away.

Outside, Xia Qian confronted him about his possessive behavior, questioning his right to interfere. Subsequently, Mu Xiaoyan, distraught over Xia Qian's perceived new relationship, got drunk and pulled Sheng Zhening into drinking with him. Both ended up consuming fake wine and required stomach pumping at the hospital. Upon their arrival at the hospital, Xia Qian and Fu Shuangshuang found both men recovering.

Fu Shuangshuang stayed to care for Mu Xiaoyan, while Xia Qian helped a severely inebriated Sheng Zhening walk home. On their way, Sheng Zhening, spotting a roasted yam stall, insisted on buying some. Xia Qian paid for the yams, then patiently peeled and fed them to him. Once home, Sheng Zhening, in a semi-conscious state, mumbled "I like you," leaving Xia Qian deeply unsettled.

The next morning, Sheng Zhening, feigning ignorance, attributed his words to alcohol and jokingly claimed he had said he liked roasted yams. Feeling confused, Xia Qian, again using the "friend" pretense, sought advice from Mu Xiaoyan. Mu Xiaoyan suggested proactive tests: sending a message to see if he'd "reply right away" and inviting him to an activity to gauge his enthusiasm.

An An, simultaneously, advised Sheng Zhening on a "play hard to get" strategy, encouraging him to "slow down" and "ignore her sometimes." Xia Qian's text message received a delayed response, and her invitation to buy roasted yams was politely declined by Sheng Zhening, who cited being "busy." Xia Qian concluded he was indifferent. For a "more direct" approach, she feigned dizziness to lean on him, but he remained stiff, following An An's "be cool" advice.

Next, she pretended to sprain her ankle and asked him to carry her, but he refused, offering only to help her walk, making light of her injury by blaming the bumpy road and her "getting old." Sheng Zhening’s calculated responses left Xia Qian feeling that his actions did not match her expectations.
